“Baby I can feel your halo
Pray it won’t fade away
I can feel your halo halo halo
I can see your halo halo halo”

And by ‘baby’, I mean coffee (sorry Beyonce). Yeah, it was a jumbo cup kinda morning.

Last night, I worked until about midnight, which makes two late nights in a row.  Not okay for us g-mas.  This morning, I looked severely haggard (love that word).  Not even this could help…

Optimum Blueberry Cinnamon cereal, banana + skim milk

Does anybody else approximate they eat about 7 servings of cereal a morning?  I am pretty sure I do.  Don’t ever measure out cereal.  It’s pathetic the amount you get.

What’s not pathetic?  Mini-meals! I love having several yummy dishes to look forward to throughout the day.

1 cup 0% Fage Greek yog
1 smashed naner
1 Kashi Honey Almond Flax granola bar
AB frosting

Dayum good.

Later, it was leftovers from last night’s Indian concoction

Okay, so I realize it looks like I pooped in my Palak Paneer, but in actuality, that is just how the dish looks.  Like poop.

After work, I came home, shoveled down more Food Should Taste Good Cinnamon chips (like the ones above) and headed out for a 6-mile run with my friend Brett.  Twas’ a good run, which was a huge relief.

When I got home, I made a salad that sounded really delicious in theory but only turned out meh

bed of organic baby spinach
mashed black beans (seasoned w/ cumin + garlic)
1/4 cup salsa
1/2 red pepper
1/2 avocado
Food Should Taste Good Lime chips

The salad was meh (not enough salsa?), but the chips WERE SO GOOD.  If you like lime flavoring (*cough, margarita-flavoring, cough*), you will j’adore these chips.  They are the perfect salty, tangy bite and saved this salad from perhaps turning up on this Web site.

Also, just an FYI, I don’t always post everything I eat.  Some days I do, some days I don’t.  Just sayin’.

This weekend is GINORMOUS, so I need to rest up.

  • FRIDAY: Work 1/2 day, drive to parent’s house, tour a community health clinic, drive to MN.
  • SATURDAY: Run 20 miles (hopefully this lady will run part way with me), buy a wedding present, attend the wedding of one of my childhood friends, get my mom dance on.
  • SUNDAY: Meet up with my bestie Ashley, drive back to WI, get my life in order for Monday.

In other words, you may or may not see back around bloggyville until Sunday.  Alright, I am out to go to watch Glee on one of my other favorite Web sites.  Yeah, I’m poor and still don’t have a TV.

P.S. A belated shoutout to my gal Andrea who also made Granny Everythingtarian’s Banana Bread.  She would be so proud :).

Whatcha all looking forward to this weekend? Spill the deets a day early since I won’t be around.  I think I am most looking forward to getting the big 20-miler behind me!

Katie September 10, 2009 at 8:21 pm

Holly, you’re killing me with all of the almond buttah! YUM. How’d you get it to squirt out like that?

Good luck with your busy weekend! I’m so impressed with your 20 miler. Are you running Grandma’s?

Lizzy September 10, 2009 at 8:52 pm

GOOD LUCKY my lovely HOLLY!!!! i hope all goes well!

all your chippy talk makes me want to go open up a bag!!!!!!

Sarah (Running To Slow Things Down) September 10, 2009 at 8:55 pm

Hey girl, don’t be afraid of the beet greans! Haha…seriously, they’re really, really good. Try chopping some up and using it as lettuce or sauteeing them in a bit of olive oil and nutmeg (if you’re a nutmeg fan…otherwise, go for something like garlic and onion which is equally good. :D )

Best of luck with the 20-miler, by the way…you’ll do great! :D

Andrea@WellnessNotes September 10, 2009 at 9:11 pm

Wow! That sounds like one full weekend! Unfortunately, we don’t have anything exciting planned for the weekend; just lots of annoying stuff to take care of… Oh, but the toddler is going to “movie night,” which means the parents get to go out too… So I guess it’s not as boring as I thought… ;)

BTW, the banana bread is already gone and was loved by all! The teenager actually asked this morning, “So why did you make banana bread? Did you see it on a blog?” I guess I’m quite predictable…

Hubby “discovered” Hulu a while ago, but I’m really trying to stay away…

Enjoy your weekend! :)

Morgan (lifeafterbagels) September 10, 2009 at 9:28 pm

Glee is so bad it’s good! Did you like it?

Cindy September 10, 2009 at 9:33 pm

I don’t really know yet. my teenager won’t be home till Saturday evening so me and the Man have an extra night…with the baby…hahaha

I suppose some sort of long cardio, a bike ride, maybe some more park time…and Sci Fi

pretty much a chill weekend!

Emily September 10, 2009 at 9:41 pm

I think there is some sort of inverse relationship between how unappetizing indian food looks and how delicious it is. maybe?

good luck on your 20 mi! no big plans for me this weekend. just gonna see what happens :)

Leianna September 10, 2009 at 10:30 pm

Possible taking a road trip to Sioux Falls to relax a night with the hubby!

Whole Body Love September 10, 2009 at 10:40 pm

I’m looking forward to some quality mommy-daughter time! I think we’re gonna hit the trails.

Mia {runs and rests} September 10, 2009 at 11:30 pm

Looks like a busy weekend there g-ma. Get quality sleep while you can, okay? ;) Loving all the chips. Can somebody ship some all the way here for me? :P
Here I am telling you to get some Zzz’s when I plan on having a zombie weekend. US Open Finals on the internet from midnight to early morning. I’ll be haggard come Monday. Hate time difference.

insideiamdancing September 11, 2009 at 6:53 am

Serving sizes are crazy. Annoys me most when it’s something like a cookie and it has 2.7 servings or something. Who are these “0.7” people?!

Yogurt messes and jumbo coffee = awesome day.

Have a fab weekend- sounds fun (unlike your post-midnight work! Not cool, Holly’s boss!)

K September 11, 2009 at 7:19 am

LOVE Beyonce – she sure knows how to sing it!

Mini meals are my life! I love eating so eating a lot throughout the day? Why not! I saw your cinnamon chip review and I decided I need those in my life. Margarita flavored? Um, yum!

I hope you get some rest soon!! Midnight is LATE!!

Brooke September 11, 2009 at 7:25 am

Holy shiz!!!! 20 miles means you are beastly in the most beautiful way possible. Which also means on Saturday I will be fixin’ a care package for you while you rock tha sh!t out of that run. YOU GO GURL!

Margaritas are nice,
almond butter swirlage is not a vice.
Three cheers for poop,
I bet it was more filling than the shiz I ate for dinner last night called really gross dining hall SOUP!

Rosey Rebecca September 11, 2009 at 7:54 am

Your fage/granola/ab combo is making me want some!

Your weekend sounds packed but fun! Have a great time at the wedding!

brandi September 11, 2009 at 8:05 am

yum, lots of coffee is often the best part of my day :) I love crumbling up kashi bars on yogurt! so good and fun to do.

looking forward to:
more football, duh :)
a good run tomorrow!

Evan Thomas September 11, 2009 at 8:18 am

I loved those lime chips, too. But I needed to add a bit more salt. What can I say? I like things to have the sodium content of kikkoman. Good luck on the 20!

Alison September 11, 2009 at 8:56 am

I made a sign and I’m holding it up here at home. GO HOLLY GO! BIG TWO OH! YOU CAN RUN MO’

Just think, when you finish 20 this weekend, it’s just another 10K to the finish! Adrenaline will carry you through to the end!

Working on my marathon sign now. Even if I’m the only one reading it, I’ll be holding it high above my head on October 4th!

Special K September 11, 2009 at 9:00 am

I am totally missing cereal, and already “snuck” in a few handfuls into my homemade local yogurt this AM because I was feeling so low, low, low without it. Immediately, my mood improved, and the little mini-meal boosted me. What did they do 100 years ago without cereal? Do you think I can make some?

Holly! Totally enter my Special K Amazing Race Bar giveaway and you can win some Dr. Kracker’s! Pass the word around! I NEED ideas!

Jess September 11, 2009 at 9:16 am

That yogurt mess looks fabulous!! That salad sounds fabulous, glad that you enjoyed the chips!

Michelle @ Find Your Balance September 11, 2009 at 10:37 am

Low September 11, 2009 at 11:07 am

Sorry you have been feeling so haggard. I hope the weekend rejuvenates you. It sounds like a blast! Good luck with the 20 miles!!

Jenny September 11, 2009 at 11:50 am

mini meals make the world go ’round. not really, but they make me mighty happy.. love having something to look forward to ever few hours!

hope you catch some R&R for your upcoming monster weekend, enjoy Hollybear!

Jenny September 11, 2009 at 12:01 pm

I like having many meals throughout the day because it gives me a little something to look forward to in intervals ;)

Wow, you have a packed weekend, but it seems to be mostly fun things!! Good luck with that 20 miler!

Jenna September 11, 2009 at 12:01 pm

Yayyy Minnesota! Are you coming to the cities?

Knock out those twenty miles girl, you can do it :)

Amen to the mini-meals as well. I would much rather have a bunch of mini-meals rather than a few big meals!

Megan (The Runner's Kitchen) September 11, 2009 at 12:19 pm

Love the jumbo coffee! As for cereal…I can finish an 11 serving box of cereal in about 3-4 days. Why are cereal servings so small??? Lately, I’ve been loving Nature’s Path Flax Plus Pumkin Raisin Crunch. So gooood.

Your daily eats look yummy – I need to try the banana mess! Someone recently suggested mashing up a banana and adding 1/2 cup vanilla soy milk. Apparently it tastes like banana pudding!

Lainie September 11, 2009 at 12:20 pm

Your chips make me want to rip open a big ol bag of doritos…I haven’t done that in years….dangerous!

Lynn @ The Actors Diet September 11, 2009 at 1:09 pm

have a great ginormous weekend!!! i will be doing stuff for my movie most nights, and resting during the day – to answer your question, my fingers are crossed “white on rice” will come to your area, will definitely let you know!!!

Dawn September 11, 2009 at 1:24 pm

Your fage and granola bar look amazing right now! Yum!

Looking forward to trying Indian food for the 1st time EVER!

Katharina September 11, 2009 at 1:34 pm

Food that looks like poop is sometimes the tastiest. Am I inadvertently saying that poop tastes good?

Your eats a faaaabuuuuloooous (say it really high pitched). I put some tortilla chips in my salad the other day too, but I ended up crushing them because it was just a lot easier to eat that way. By the way, those chips you were sent sound pretty amazing.

Have an awesome weekend, love! I’m looking forward to a cook-out, and I’m going to be the mashed potato scooper/keep track of things for an eating contest. I will DEFINITELY be documenting that.

Emily (The Experimentarian) September 11, 2009 at 1:58 pm

Yeah, that’s why I do’t eat cereal! I always have to have about three bowls and then I’m hungry an hour later. Thanks for stopping by my blog–so hapy to “meet” you! Awesome on your 20 miler! woowoo to you to :) xoxo

Erica September 11, 2009 at 2:52 pm

AH! So glad the lime chips are good. I want them! Hope you have fun this weekend! Rock it out at the wedding and good luck with the 20 miles (WOW!)

Faith September 11, 2009 at 2:53 pm

Sometimes the only thing that helps me get out of bed in the morning is a jumbo cup of coffee like that. ;)

Your yog mess looks especially delish today!

Tay September 11, 2009 at 3:05 pm

You eat poop!! Yuck yuck ;-) I’m sure it was tasty poop though. I cry when I measure out cereals. It is pathetic. Good luck with your 20 miles!!! Waaahooooo!

Jamie Walker September 11, 2009 at 4:59 pm

I love all your mini cereal meals. Your my kinda gal!

Katie September 11, 2009 at 5:23 pm

I laughed out loud for about 10 minutes when I clicked on your link to the FAIL blog. It’s a favorite of mine. Good luck with your run!!

Meghan@traveleatlove September 11, 2009 at 5:58 pm

Good luck on the 20 miler! I did my 2 hour run Thursday night so I will be able to sleep in. Some brunch plans but nothing exciting. Love a free weekend!

Emily (Healthy Fit Mama) September 11, 2009 at 6:42 pm

I always measure out my cereal otherwise I’ll eat 1/2 the box in 1 sitting! I usually eat Fiber One and I always measure out 2 servings to eat. Who eats just 1/2 a cup of cereal?!

Good luck with your 20 miles!

Matt September 11, 2009 at 7:41 pm

Good luck on the 20 miler tomorrow! You will rock it!
