72 Hours in Texas

I cannot accurately put into words one amazingly hilarious weekend with my best friends in a way that would truly express those glorious 72 hours to the {blog} world. In other words, pictures + minimal words are just going to have to do the talking…

Hour 1: salad devouring + airport waiting

Hour 6: sushi night @ The Fish with ma ladies

Hour 22: hook dem horns because we’re Austin bound!

Hour 30: pregaming with shots of wine. yes, shots.

Hour 34: me falling asleep at at trendy bar on 6th Street with Corona beer in hand

Hour 44: breakfast @ Jo’s coffee cart

Hours 46 – 50: shop til’ we mothereffing drop (like my new purse?!)

Hour 50: best friends <3

Hour 51: food carts, where have you been all my life?

Hour 52: mango ginger mimosas + MIGAS {!!!} @ South Congress Cafe

Hour 55: I-don’t-know-what-to-wear-and-nothing-looks-good syndrome. the worst syndrome ever. hey, at least i didn’t wear the singlet i was going to wear out…

Hour 56: Mexican martinis + appetizers (pizza, cilantro jalapeno hummus + pita, spider nuts (TWSS), chips + guac) at Spiderhouse near the UT campus.

Hour 58: possibly the best ice cream of my life at Amy’s.

Hour 70: one last meal at Freebird’s (a better version of Chipotle), where I enjoyed a cayenne tortilla filled with Mexican rice, black beans, steak, queso, lettuce, tomato, sauteed veggies + pure deliciousness.

Hour 72: saying goodbye + not knowing I was heading to the airport to almost die in a plane crash back to Chicago. no really, i almost did. that’s another story for another day.

Was this recap random?

Yes.

Have I worked two 12-hour days in a row?

Yes.

Have I unpacked my suitcase, put sheets my bed, grocery shopped, caught up on two weeks of Glee, cleaned my apartment, relaxed on the couch and enjoyed being back in Madison?

Nope, so I’m considering it a miracle I blogged at all…:)

I love all of your pictures. You are quite cool. That is pretty much it. Ps – After almost running up to the girl that looked EXACTLY like you the other day and yelling (HOLLY!) in her face, I collected myself and deemed it a sign that we must meet soon! Either that or I need to start wearing my glasses 24/7… and FYI she was pretty cute, though she was also pretty freaking loud… So if you two were separated at birth, Mama and Papa E lucked out dude.

I love Austin. So much. If it wasn’t so flipping hot there in the summer I’d move there in a heartbeat. I also love you.

Flip flops and having coffee outside?!?!?! Aaaahhhh… what’s that like?

And you almost died in Chicago, huh? Do tell…

brandi February 23, 2011 at 8:13 am

Guess I need to go to Texas, because your trip looks like SO much fun!

And I hope that part about almost dying isn’t true.

Jessica @ Healthy Dairyland February 23, 2011 at 8:29 am

Cute boots!! I went to San Antonio last winter, but I’m dying to go to Austin!

Elizabeth@The Sweet Life February 23, 2011 at 8:40 am

Texas is SUCH a charming state, in so many ways!

sarah (sarah learns) February 23, 2011 at 8:53 am

i love your recap! it looks like you had an amazing trip. :) also, please share the plane crash story.

Angharad February 23, 2011 at 9:04 am

I am really glad that you made it to a couple of my faves, namely Amy’s (isn’t their ice cream reedonk?) and Spiderhouse. Although I can’t think of Spiderhouse as a food/booze place….it’ll always be a coffee shop to me! (did I tell you it used to only be a coffeeshop?)

Anyway, glad you had an awesome time. I heart Austin.

Angharad February 23, 2011 at 9:05 am

p.s. get some sleep

Alison February 23, 2011 at 9:21 am

I love everything about this post…it reminds me of my brain.
ALSO, I’m in the market for a ‘boots dress’ and I love the one you’re wearing above…do you remember where you found it?

Thanks!

Chloe@321delish February 23, 2011 at 9:37 am

Your collages are fantastic. I can totally fill in the words on my own :) Looks like a blast!

Dude, what happened on the plane??? Yikes! I am very impressed that you blogged- I had a best friend in town and I didn’t even really blog even though I was home! Glad you had a great time- Chicago’s next!! ;)

Kacy February 23, 2011 at 12:14 pm

FABULOUS! Except the almost dying part. Except it’s fabulous that you didn’t. Take care of yourself love!

Katie February 23, 2011 at 12:37 pm

Ughhh. You’re making me want to quit my job and head down south to the land of the longhorns. I can’t even wait until Christmas (which is when I usually go). Maybe I’ll have to make a special trip before then…just because you made me jealous. Glad you had a fabulouso time – sorry about jumping back into life head first.

Marci February 23, 2011 at 12:50 pm

How wonderful is Amy’s? And the food truck area? And the lake? And you saw campus. Fun.

Stephanie @ Thorns Have Roses February 23, 2011 at 3:58 pm

Looks like a blast! Where did you get the RED scarf? I love it!!

K - Anywhere There's An Airport February 23, 2011 at 4:05 pm

I’ll take the boots, the bag, the mimosa and a pound of the chips and guac.

Pictures truly say a thousand words! Loved the recap! Love Texas! I was born in Texas :) Video of me as a kid = the twangiest accent ever!

janetha @ meals and moves February 23, 2011 at 4:32 pm

Ah! Fun! You are so damn adorable. And I spent a few minutes trying to figure out how you looped your scarf. Looking hot. I love you!!!!!!!!

Lindsay February 23, 2011 at 4:44 pm

I’ve been reading your blog for a little while now, and I couldn’t NOT comment on this post! First of all, those mimosas look divine, as does the ice cream and…well, pretty much all of the food!

I also love your style! Especially the purse and striped shirt, you’ve definitely given me some outfit inspiration.

Kaleigh February 23, 2011 at 6:18 pm

great pics! I’m sure you have NO regrets about gettin your yee-haw on :)

runRedrun February 23, 2011 at 7:11 pm

hey! I don’t comment very often (I think I have..once), but I think I saw you at the airport in MKE! If I hadn’t been so confused about the two Chicago flights leaving from the same gate, I would have said hi. Oy. Looks like you had a nice trip (minus the almost dying part).

BroccoliHut February 23, 2011 at 8:24 pm
