Miss Productivity
(To the tune of Kelly Clarkson’s “Miss Independent,” FYI)
To kick my own arse out of its meh state yesterday, I did this last night…

Is there anything a bookstore, decaf coffee, Cinnamon Chip Scone and an US Weekly can’t fix? I think no.
When I woke up this morning from a glorious 9 hour sleep, I reluctantly threw on my hot black spandex, black Old Navy Performance fleece and running shoes for a 3 mile run. And I am so glad I did.
With post-run renewed energy, I scarfed this down. I am talking maybe 3 1/2 minutes fast.

That would be a phallic-looking banana with Mighty Maple PB alongside a bowl of Kashi Honey Sunshine + organic skim milk. Whoever recommended eating slow obviously doesn’t know me.
When I got to work, I barely even looked at blogs (usually a morning ritual) and set to work. Before I knew it, it was past noon – ahem, LUNCHTIME!
There are a bunch of food carts downtown where I work, and the cutest one is Dandelion. It also happens to be vegetarian/vegan-friendly. I believe the sign says, “Vegan questions? You’ll like our answers.” I know this girl will.
Enter in The Infamous Sweet Potato Wrap.

Huge chunks of sweet potato, cilantro pesto and Dutch gouda cheese (other things too, but I was so busy scarfing I didn’t take note). BEST. WRAP. EVER. It pains me to think I only just discovered this gem and today was it’s last day of the season.
The cart guy even gave me a free homemade peanut butter cup. I am pretty sure it’s because I wowed him with my NKOTB dance moves and rendition of “The Right Stuff.”

And you probably think I am kidding about dancing to NKOTB in the middle of the street. I’m not.
<Enter in more productivity here>
I rounded out my meal with a Diet Coke. Perfection.

After work and receiving some exciting e-mails (mu ha ha, now I am going to be the one withholding exciting news!), I ate a haphazardly concocted, yet well-balanced meal. Here’s what we got kids:
Protein: Sunshine Barbecue Patty w/ BBQ Sauce
Grain: Mary’s Gone Crackers – Onion Flavor
Veggie: 1 cup baby carrots
Fruit: 2 Archer Farms Organic Raspberry Fruit Strips

Not too shabby.
Then, I went to a job interview for a part-time seasonal position at a chic home decorating store. Meet the newest sales associate ready to pimp out floral arrangements, pillows, furniture, candles, kitchenware and more (ahem, ME!).
Apparently they were looking for someone outgoing and willing to talk to customers, and I happened to fit the bill.
Now, it’s time to watch last night’s Glee episode and turn the tables on productivity. One should maintain balance in one’s life, no? FIrst however,

October 15th, 2009 at 8:47 pm
I’ve been writing my essay all night, which clearly I need google reader up and running to do, right?
That sweet potato wrap sounds SOoooOOoo good. But I am entirely the opposite: I will eat slower than a snail if I’m left to.
October 15th, 2009 at 8:48 pm
That wrap looks like a foodgasm. OMG. We have an awesome veg place called Dandelion here, too, but it’s an old house converted into a restaurant.
Are you working at Crate & Barrell?! If so, awesome. If not, STILL AWESOME.
The last productive thing I did: finished reading every last thing in my Google Reader. Does that count? Okay, fine, I did homework.
October 15th, 2009 at 8:50 pm
OMG, that homemade PB cup looks yummy!
October 15th, 2009 at 8:50 pm

I can’t eat cereal slow.. that’s probably why I don’t like it! Actually it’s so good that I devour it
Sweet potato in a wrap?? That sounds good! Except I’d probably go the sweet route and ad peanut butter
I bet you did great on your interview!!
October 15th, 2009 at 8:57 pm
fun fact about me- NKOTB was my very first concert. my mom took me and made me wear earplugs. it was AWESOME (I was also 6).
October 15th, 2009 at 9:07 pm
Wow, that scone looks so amazing and cinnamony! Love it
The sweet potato wrap looks delicious, too. The last productive thing was complete my Kinesiology online quiz about 15 minutes ago. Today was pretty productive with all my tests and studying, too. I’m ready to turn off the productivity as well! After I do my psychology assignment. lol!
October 15th, 2009 at 9:24 pm
the pb cup??? OMG.
October 15th, 2009 at 9:30 pm
OK, I am SO trying to recreate that wrap. WOW! And I can’t wait to hear the news!
It’s Friday afternoon here, and I am struggling to keep productive (can ya tell?) but I really want the weekend off work, so I better knuckle down.
October 15th, 2009 at 9:33 pm

Cinnamon Chip Scone + Coffee + Trashy Mags = HEAVEN! I scarf those cc scones in 4 bites flat – they are my fave!
The most productive thing I’ve done is to answer all my emails – booyah for clean inboxes!
October 15th, 2009 at 10:18 pm
omg O.O

yeeeeeeah!

October 15th, 2009 at 10:25 pm
That wrap looks fantastic! I’ve never actually eaten a sweet potato but I imagine they are delicious! Congrats on the new job!
October 15th, 2009 at 10:32 pm
I love the image of you rocking out to NKOTB in the middle of the street.
Congrats on the job! That is so exciting.
There’s a good chance that something like that sweet potato wrap will make its way into my mouth this coming weekend.
October 15th, 2009 at 10:46 pm
Love the wrap. And the homemade peanut butter cup…
I don’t feel very productive today. The toddler woke up at 3:30 a.m. and insisted to get up. And so did I. It ended up not being a very productive day…
Congrats on your seasonal job! Have fun!
October 15th, 2009 at 10:57 pm
OMG what’s up with that wrap? They only sell it seasonally?? Bum-mer
October 15th, 2009 at 11:28 pm
Hmm…I studied and revised my Anatomy notes while teaching Snuffy to “take notes” on her own notebook and watching Ratatouille .
October 15th, 2009 at 11:59 pm
Lol does writing up a post count as productive??
Seriously, those Puffins look so good right now. I just want cereal with cold soy milk GOSH! FLORIDA IS HOOOOT! Can you believe I have a bowl of overnight oats sitting in my parents fridge right now?
As for the sweet potato wrap. DANG GIRL! I really feel for you.. last day? Really? Sad face!
THEY BETTER HIRE YOU!!!
p.s. I just scrolled up to make sure I didn’t miss anything.. and I did. May I have that scone please?
October 16th, 2009 at 12:02 am
Congrats on the joblette! And what are you keeping from us? I need to know.
I also need that sweet potato wrap! Shooo! You are right that I’d love that! I’m going to re-create this, you just watch. But my heart is slightly breaking because gouda cheese was my fave
I really don’t think there is an equivalent for that. I shall conquer this!
Jadore the productivity! The last productive thing I did…study and dominate a midterm! OK, I keep saying I dominated it but I really have no idea.
This may sound gross or something, but I always wait to read your post until I’m enjoying a delicious snack because YOUR eats always look so delicious, and then the writing and YOU on top just make it the best experience evah. Just picture it: me in front of my Vaio, reading ya posts and dipping a pita into a jar of pb. Then I ran out of pita and used my pinkie. Hahaha I’m SUCH a creep. Sorry, boo.
Love you!!!
October 16th, 2009 at 12:33 am
Okay, so I think this is a sign. Last night I had a very long conversation with my boyfriend’s sister about the genius who invented the peanut butter cup (Mr. Reese?) while we scarfed down PB Cup Ben & Jerry’s. Today, I saw them on not one but TWO blogs. I think this means I need to make my own. And invite everyone I know over so I don’t eat them all myself.
Also… your penis banana. Love it. Am I allowed to say “penis” on the internet?
October 16th, 2009 at 6:24 am
That sweet potato wrap look uh-mazing!! And that homemade peanut butter cup? Droooool. I was rockin’ the hot black spandex yesterday too. Feels good while running, but gets some weird looks as I do my cool-down walk back to my place – past university residences and students waiting for the bus…
Yay for the part-time gig!!! I’m thinking of getting something similar actually
October 16th, 2009 at 7:38 am
I drooled a little seeing the Infamour Sweet potato wrap and then food fell out of my mouth at the PEANUT BUTTER SIN IN YOUR MOUTH CUP!!
You lucky devil you. It had to be the NKOTB dance. That does the trick EVERY time.
October 16th, 2009 at 8:42 am
YAY for the part time job girl! you will be the best employee they ever hired!
That wrap you got for lunch seriously made my mouth drool! must recreate at home i think right???!!!
How can you leave me in suspense like that, i can’t wait to hear this news of yours girl! tehehe
HAPPY FRIDAY!
October 16th, 2009 at 8:48 am
True story: I used to eat two cinnamon scones a week! That shit’s good!! I want that sweet potato wrap! That thing is perfection.
Another true story: The Right Stuff was my ring tone for over a year and that PB cup looks delish!
I love that you, Kailey, and I all watched Glee last night! We should have a ‘I didn’t watch Glee when it originally aired’ party
Happy Friday!!
October 16th, 2009 at 8:49 am
Productive thing….getting ready for school in the spring, taking tests and finally getting accepted!
Other than that work!
October 16th, 2009 at 9:23 am
That wrap looks delicious–I wish we had something like that where I work!
Congrats on the new job!
October 16th, 2009 at 10:11 am
congrats on the job, girl!!! so exciting
and that sweet potato wrap looks amazing – sweet potato and pesto? Why have I not done that before?
October 16th, 2009 at 10:21 am
I need that sweet potato wrap in my life. Thanks for the shout out! <3
October 16th, 2009 at 10:52 am
I swear, celebrity gossip can fix everything!
October 16th, 2009 at 11:03 am
OMG. Please stop torturing me with your food pics. That sweet potato wrap looks like heaven and that pb cup…wow. No words
There is a place here that makes a bomber black bean and sweet potato wrap. So easily re-creatable at home. I would suggest it with pineapple salsa
October 16th, 2009 at 11:32 am
suddenly my hummus/laughing cow cheese wrap seems inadequate. That sweet ‘tato sammie is a star!
koodos to you for being productive. It’s currently 12:30 and I am still in my jammies — no shame!
Happy friday gorgie! xo
October 16th, 2009 at 11:36 am
That sweet potato wrap looks AWESOME!
I don’t know how to answer your question…I try/strive to use every free minute I have productively…
last night I knitted while waiting for da baby to fall asleep so I could jog…than I jogged (okay I walked) than I did yoga while waiting for the shower to warm up while I charged my camera battery so later I could download the day’s pics, and went back to knitting while whatching the second half of a movie me n Hubs started the night before but couldn’t finish cuz we were sleepy…
my day is like that…too much multi tasking.
later I am going to use my lunch break to pick up my teen and knit while I wait for him to get to the car and make a video message for a long distance friend!
I probably should say” I filed a mountian of documents off my desk” but that’s boring!
xoxoxox
October 16th, 2009 at 12:26 pm
Haha, I’ve been waiting for a reason to be elusive and mysterious on the blog, but nothing so far. Glad something exciting is happening for ya! And way to go on the PT job. I’ve been half-assedly (word?) looking for one myself.
October 16th, 2009 at 12:48 pm
Haha I am being productive right now… I am at work. There is one person in the weight room so I am pretty bored… ZZZzzz…
That sweet potato wrap looks epic. I might try to recreate one of those soon!
October 16th, 2009 at 12:49 pm
I thought your sweet potato wrap looked pretty incredible…then I scrolled down and saw that peanut butter cup! Love at first sight.
Happy Friday!
October 16th, 2009 at 1:11 pm
Hooray for Starbucks scones and trash magazines! A few summers ago, my regular routine was to get a frappuccino and read magazines in the local Barnes and Noble for hours. Ahh, so relaxing. Unfortunately the bookstores in NYC are always SO crowded – it makes me claustophobic.
p.s. in my spin class today, the instructor played “I wear my sunglasses at night” and I of course thought of you!
October 16th, 2009 at 1:40 pm
Dude, I die for everything in this post.
I want a Dandelion food cart by my work. Or house, I’ll take either. I want to eat that wrap through the screen. And a homemade peanut butter cup? STFU!!!
October 16th, 2009 at 3:15 pm
The wrap? Money. Holy crap.
And congrats on the PT job! I am intrigued by your elusive excitement…I wish I had something exciting to tease, but I hardly think yardwork and grocery shopping count as anticipatory events (well, they are for me, but not everyone else).
For a Friday, I was quite productive at work! Now, since I’m reading blogs…not so much.
October 16th, 2009 at 4:15 pm
thats one good lookin wrap!!! the huge chunks of sweet potato are making my mouth water!!
congrats on the new job! it sounds so fun
I want to know your excitement, no fair to have us wait!!!!
October 16th, 2009 at 4:57 pm
I going to guess Pier 1! Although floral arrangements? Maybe not.
CONGRATS on the new job – you better spill on that excited email new ASAP.
And I totally believe you did the Right Stuff in the middle of the street, especially if it was in the name of chocolate and peanut butter.
October 16th, 2009 at 9:06 pm
