Just Call Me Ms. Universe
HAPPY NATIONAL OATMEAL DAY!
Ahhh, if I had only known October 29th was National Oatmeal Day my whole life, I would have enjoyed this wondrous bowl of goodness so much sooner.
Today, I tried out a bowl of oats I’ve never had before: Mexican Hot Chocolate Protein Oats a la Janetha!
1/2 cup oats
1 cup water + 1/2 cup skim milk
pinch of salt
1 packet Tera’s Whey Fair Trade Dark Chocolate Protein Powder
Lots of cinnamon
drizzle of agave
Dark Chocolate Dreams PB

Chocolate + cinnamon = GLORIOUSLY DELICIOUS.
Look at these beautiful stats + facts…

That would be about 30 grams total of filling protein. Not to mention, 90% of the bowl is organic, locally-made and natural.
Lunch was a yog mess made with homemade Greek yog. If you haven’t been keeping up with the joneses – yes, you CAN make your own Greek yog for cheap!
1 cup nonfat organic homemade Greek yog
3/4 cup Kashi Heart2Heart
apple pie spice
1 sliced naner
glob o’ Bees Knees PB

That would be another 30 grams of protein in mi estomago (ahem, stomach).
Instead of snacking on the carrots I brought, I instead turned to a big ol’ handful of trail mix. Watch out all you female bodybuilders, The Healthy Everythingtarian is on a protein binge!

Eight more grams. Just not enough if I am going to win the Ms. Universe title!
After work, I snarfed down some PB+J toast (12 more grams) before hitting up Target Pharmacy before their 7pm closing time. Now, I am home sipping on Pumpkin Spice Tea, making carrot fries a la mi maestra de espanol (carrots have protein, right?
) and getting down to business.
And by business, I mean turning myself into this…

“I’ll be back…”
Until then, go show my gal Ruthie some love by welcoming her back to the blogworld and entering to win some of her homemade inspirational magnets!

I think we need to cut down the protein if that’s the result O_O
October 29th, 2009 at 8:13 pm
You better start popping the ‘roids in addition to the protein if you want to achieve your goal ! haha.
October 29th, 2009 at 8:15 pm
Mexican hot chocolate oats sound pretty darn good!
October 29th, 2009 at 8:16 pm
Thanks for the oatmeal inspriation, I’ll definitely try that! And I had no idea Ruthie was back! YAY!

October 29th, 2009 at 9:06 pm
Hottie with the body. I think you can take her. Ask Ivan Drago for help. Or Rocky he did defeat him in Siberia! That’s it train in Siberia! I wish I had remember to try oats today for the holiday, but I’m normally not an oats lover.
October 29th, 2009 at 9:07 pm
BTW I think you should maybe go for a more natural look there. That women looks photoshopped she’s so odd looking!
October 29th, 2009 at 9:12 pm
Today was National Oatmeal Day?! Oh no! I knew I should have had some pumpkin oats this morning! :[ But oh well… and your Mexican Chocolate oats look quite delicious! I’ve never tried chocolate (much less dark) protein powder… might have to pick up a packet to try this weekend!
October 29th, 2009 at 9:20 pm
I was quite depressed when I learned it was oatmeal day AFTER I’d made french toast. That is, until I realized I already celebrated it 200+ times this year
Mexican oats sound glorious!! Definitely trying that out.
All you need are a few “man push-ups” and you should be competition ready!
October 29th, 2009 at 9:34 pm
ME ENCANTA TU ESPANOL. Y GRACIAS POR EL SHOUTOUT!
y chocolate caliente mexicana!? lo necesito!!!
besos besos besos
October 29th, 2009 at 9:40 pm
I love Mexican hot chocolate, but I always add a little bit of chili powder to mine. Maybe that would be great in oats too. (it’s also good in brownies!)
October 29th, 2009 at 9:43 pm
love the oats and yogurt mess!
glad you had lots of protein today!

October 29th, 2009 at 9:53 pm

When I saw the title of your post, I thought it was a New-Age theme. Oh, how wrong I was.
October 29th, 2009 at 10:11 pm
That picture is crazy, I love my protein but don’t want to look like that:)
October 29th, 2009 at 10:39 pm
No more protein for you; I think it’s messing with your head…
And I’m happy to report that the toddler and I each enjoyed a glorious bowl of oatmeal with pumpkin butter and walnuts in honor of National Oatmeal Day this morning!
October 29th, 2009 at 10:48 pm
Thanks for the comment on my blog! I love having new people reading! Anywho…lovin the protein. Hopefully you won’t turn into that lady
She’s a bit extreme. Happy oatmeal day! I had oats this morning too, but not cause i new it was oatmeal day, I just had oats just cause
October 29th, 2009 at 10:49 pm
I’ve been trying desperately to increase my protein intake lately, so I need to get my hands on some of that protein powder. Where did you get it?
October 29th, 2009 at 10:51 pm
I think your current physique is much more appealing.
October 29th, 2009 at 11:00 pm
What is everyone saying? That lady is HOT. And my mom. Quit talking about my mom.
October 29th, 2009 at 11:42 pm
I celebrated national oatmeal day without even realizing it! Course, that’s not a big shocker with the lack of my breakfast variety
Your oats look amazingly delicious, though! I’ll have to look for that protein powder.
October 29th, 2009 at 11:44 pm
one of my coworkers is training for a “fitness” competition, which is a step down from body building, and I send her scary pictures of female body builders every day to motivate and frighten her.
October 30th, 2009 at 12:11 am
Ooooh, I’m always looking for new protein powders to try! This looks good!
Haha, I am a protein WHORE. At the BARE MINIMUM I eat my weight in ounces in protein everyday. And my kidneys are damn fine. Then again, I’m always drinking water. Alas, I do not have the body of a fitness competitor yet.
October 30th, 2009 at 12:33 am
i can’t wait to try some chocolate in my oats action….
October 30th, 2009 at 12:35 am

xx
October 30th, 2009 at 6:40 am
Holly, you know I could come be your personal trainer, you already look perfect, without steriods you will never look like that (thank goodness!, lol.
I did the pumpkin oatmeal drizzle thingy I added a little dark chocolate almond butter. Honestly, I would almost knock my sweet mother over for that! Awesome!!
I put Designer Whey protein in my oatmeal. It is flavorless and love it. Glad you are kicking the protein up a notch, great way to build muscle!
Have a great weekend!
October 30th, 2009 at 6:44 am
Were you trying to turn in to the women posing or the little statue?!?! I kid I kid!
I celebrate Oatmeal day about 325 days of the year! There are those rare occasions that I’m not digging the creamy goodness. It is rare though!
October 30th, 2009 at 6:56 am
You know, I’m all for protein, but please, don’t turn into the overtan mass of muscle. I like you just the way you are!
(How the heck do bodybuilders find clothes that fit?? Do they look at all “normal” when they aren’t all greased up in their teeny bikinis under the lights??)
October 30th, 2009 at 7:11 am
Holy ish! I mean, I know that’s what *I* look like in my bikini….ha ha! Have a great Friday lady! xoxo
October 30th, 2009 at 7:37 am
Haha, Holly you are too funny! I need to follow your example and get some extra protein in my life. How much PRO do you think Halloween candy has? I am always up for eating that…
October 30th, 2009 at 8:21 am
Those muscles and leathery skin are makin’ me weak in the knees
I need to get on the protein oat train but I’m nervous! I’ve heard glowing reviews and then I’ve heard bad ones. I just need to bite the bullet and try it, don’t I?!
October 30th, 2009 at 8:31 am
So, I was a little sleepy and was slowly scrolling through your post when that picture popped up.
I’m awake now.
Thanks.
October 30th, 2009 at 8:40 am
ahahahahahahahaha That is seriously the scariest thing I have ever seen.
October 30th, 2009 at 9:20 am

October 30th, 2009 at 10:39 am
That’s not a woman. It’s Arnold with a head photoshopped and a bikini pasted on.
Could you imagine dating looking like that?
I’ll just sit here and enjoy my smooshy arms.
OATMEAL…and I horked down the last of my granola last night! GAW
I think there is a bagel in the kitchen with oatmeal sprinkled on top
OH THE HORROR

I was wondering if that is your favorite protein powder? Do you use others as well?
October 30th, 2009 at 3:38 pm
I’m a day late, but Happy National Oatmeal Day!
October 30th, 2009 at 3:43 pm
Well if that body building photo isn’t startling, I don’t know what is. I used to have cheer+dance competitions at the Arnold Shwarzneger(sp?? I’m being a bad journalist and not fact-checking that right now) Classic, which is a body building competition thang. It’s WILD to walk around that place. Definitely interesting.
Please stop making me want Greek yogurt. I really really really miss it :*( Da messes look so good, and they work so well with that Greeky tang…shooooo homie be CRAVING.
Anyway, still no word from you know who. Crazy, right?
Please have a joyous weekend, my love XOXO

I’ve only had one experience with whey protein and it wasn’t edible. But dark chocolate protein powder sounds like something I can love.
You are just THE BEST for giving me homemade greek yog shoutouts! SO HAPPY you’re enjoying it!
I think you would make a fabulous Ms. Universe for Halloween!
October 31st, 2009 at 10:51 am
