Make Your Spirits Bright
I am still at work.
Yes, as in right now as I type this sentence.
But I am trying to forget that fact.
Instead, I am thinking fondly of the Apple Pie Oatmeal I had for breakfast (eaten about 11 oh-so-long hours ago).
1/2 cup oats
1 cup Cinnamon Apple Spice Tea
pinch of salt
1 1/2 small Haralson chopped apples
drizzle of agave
lotsa Apple Pie Spice
hunk o’ Bee’s Knees PB

That’s the money shot right thurre.

Apple Pie Spice = cinnamon, nutmeg + allspice (a.k.a. perfection).
Somewhere in the day, I devoured the requisite yog mess. It’s becoming a slight addiction, as in my day is not complete without one. I wonder if the Kardashian sistas feel the same way about paparazzi pics?
1 cup nonfat plain Greek yog
1/2 cup Kashi Heart2Heart cereal
1 sliced naner
hunk o’ DCD PB

One thing that did brighten my day…Starbucks holiday cups!

Most of the time, I try and support the local coffee shops, ya know? But when these cups come around, well….they make me happy! There, I said it. Holiday cups make MY spirits bright.
Somewhere else in the day, I believe some MilkDuds and a big ol’ Haralson apple was devoured as was a Cherry Pie Larabar. However, no pictures. And really, today, not much recollection of it either.
What I do recollect is sipping a mug of Pacific Foods Roasted Red Pepper Tomato Soup alongside a sprouted wheat tortilla. Yeah, that’s right…sipped out of my Green Bay Correctional Facility mug.

So, I may still be at work, but my spirits are bright. I mean…Apple Pie Oats, yog messes, holiday cups, warm soup in correctional facility mugs and some plans for cheetahs upon arriving home tonight…how can it not be?
What makes YOUR spirits bright? Holiday cups, yog messes and oatmeal, oh my!

November 3rd, 2009 at 7:30 pm
I hope you get to leave soon, hang in there!
Your yogurt mess totally makes my spirit bright. It looks to die for.
Other things that make my sprits bright… I have to agree with you on all of the holiday decorations, store fronts, decorations, etc. Everybody just seems to be in a better mood during this time of the year.
Also, my family, my boyfriend and my puppy. Those three things always do the trick!
November 3rd, 2009 at 7:30 pm
I am so ready for the holidays and log fires
November 3rd, 2009 at 7:30 pm
I love how your response to the holiday mugs is happy and mine is panic! The holidays!? I already feel behind! Although my large cup of coffee this morning definitely made me feel bright and cheery – even if the cup was taunting me…!
November 3rd, 2009 at 7:50 pm
What is this Haralson apple? It sounds lovely!
Ahh, the red cups. Reminds me of all eggnog creations I would come up with while working there over the holidays. Eggnog chais are delicious!
And soups out of random mugs is always a must!
Today, being with my mommy is making my spirits bright
November 3rd, 2009 at 7:52 pm
I also noticed the Starbucks holiday cups – made me want a hot chocolate with whipped cream!!
Thanksgiving day road races (an 8 miler!), autumn leaves, and crisp, sunny days make my spirits bright.
Oh, and Holly The Healthy Everythingtarian. She’s not so bad either
November 3rd, 2009 at 7:57 pm
I literally gasped when I saw the chick at Starbucks pull out the red cup. She looked at me like I was crazy (I don’t blame her), and I said, “I’m sorry, I just got really excited.” I’m not sure if that made things better or worse…
Hmmm making my spirits bright… reuniting with Muff, holiday brews, holiday cups/plates/music/errythang, plans falling together, mi familia, Weezy F. Baby (always), seeing babies (and by babies I mean dogs) while walking on the street, cinnamon, pumpkin, everything basically. Bahaha.
K. Love you. Hope you’re outta work by now!
November 3rd, 2009 at 8:15 pm
I’m glad your spirits are bright. Oh boyyy, I just saw my dad’s holiday starbucks cup and got SO exciteddd! YAY for the holidays <3 Lovely eats!

Everything about the holidays make my spirits bright! I love it!
November 3rd, 2009 at 8:42 pm
You are so freaking positive! I would be seriously down in the dumps were I still at work, but Holly? No, Holly just cheerfully blogs about the GOOD things. While at work. That’s what makes you great. Love ya!

November 3rd, 2009 at 10:44 pm
If we had a Starbucks around here (crazy that there’s NOTone, right?) , I would be flippin out about the Christmas cups!
My countdown gets smaller by the day…
November 3rd, 2009 at 11:07 pm
Can’t believe holiday cups are already out! It’s only the beginning of November! AH! I hate when people kill holiday spirit by starting too early!
November 3rd, 2009 at 11:21 pm
I love drinking soup – it’s the busy day/perfect cold weather lunch. Glad your busy day was filled with positive things. My day is brightened by oatmeal, hot water drinking (and holding in my perpetually cold hands), and warm blankets. Coffee always helps, too.
November 4th, 2009 at 12:07 am
I had that same soup today! High Five Soup Sistah!
My day is brightened by niceness and the smell of fresh applesauce that’s wafting through my house right now.
I live in Seattle – nothing at Starbucks excites me one bit. Sorry, I’m the Starbucks Scrooge.
November 4th, 2009 at 1:17 am
Dude, I’m plain obsessed with Starbie’s holiday cups. I get soooo excited. Coffee just tastes so much better out of them, y’know?
November 4th, 2009 at 1:23 am

November 4th, 2009 at 6:58 am
holy holiday cups batman! when it’s still 93 degrees, it’s hard to be ready for those red cups! since I’m hungry right now, I’ll say I’m thankful for the massive amount of delicious food my mom bought for me while she was here!

November 4th, 2009 at 7:16 am
crazay! i had the urge to make red pepper tomato soup today. we are total bloggie twins. alas, what i ended up making didn’t have the peps, though. nor do i have a correctional facilities mug… but i try.
about a week ago katya brought home some nequik in christmas packaging. that bunny looks cute in a red santa hat, let me tell you. (oh, nesquik.)
my spirits are brightened by: homecooked meals, warm drinks, long walks, and good friends.
November 4th, 2009 at 7:33 am
You have a great attitude! Love it! I have seriously been addicted to the Greek also. I have to have it every morning and then crave it all day but my poor tummy can barley handle that one morning serving
I always want Starbucks and end up talking me hubby into going and then we get to the order window and I chicken out. I never know to order and I am afraid I’ll order something with 1,000,000 calories!!!! hehehe
Cuddling my hubs under the warm blankets makes my spirits bright

November 4th, 2009 at 8:36 am
The holiday cups made me happy yesterday, too! I don’t know if I’m quite ready for the Christmas jingles, but seasonal cheer is starting to make this Grinch a little sweeter.
Sorry about your long days at work, love.
Lovely days spent with the people I love makes my spirit brighter.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:55 am
Wow your yog-mess and apple pie oatmeal looks yummmmy! I’m sorry about the long work day. Atleast you know this isn’t everyday
I love classic holiday music.. like big band style. I also love making lists of what to make/give to people, and the store-front decorations. May I also add that I love all the season flavors that come out? Like Silk’s Nog and Pumpkin Spice soy milk.. uhhh Celestial Seasonings, Clif bars.. you get the point
November 4th, 2009 at 9:03 am

November 4th, 2009 at 12:30 pm

November 4th, 2009 at 1:01 pm
You make my spirits bright with spaz-out comments like the amazing one you left on my blog last night. You rule (republicans do not).
With you on the yog mess girl. I’ll be having one of those in a little bit. Nom.
November 4th, 2009 at 1:56 pm
Ugh, I feel ya girl, I had the longest day of work EVER (9:30am-11:00pm).
All of those eats would have made my spirits bright too. And holiday Sbucks cups = LOVE.
November 4th, 2009 at 2:12 pm
Holiday cups make my spirits bright too! Along with anything chocolate.
November 4th, 2009 at 2:34 pm
Just looking at and dreaming about your oatmeal lifts my spirits!
Hope you got to go home soon after you posted this after your long day at work…
November 4th, 2009 at 2:43 pm
Christmas songs make my spirits bright!!
Oh man, yogurt messes with Heart to Heart – my ultimate indulgence. I had to stop buying H2H, it was getting out of hand. Throw in some chocolate chips and you’ll have to stage an intervention.
November 4th, 2009 at 3:19 pm
I just adore your subtle sense of humor in these posts. You make me laugh. A lot!
That pacific brand soup IS good!
Holiday-scented candles always brighten my mood.
November 4th, 2009 at 4:34 pm
A run, seeing my little cousins, playing with kids, running, biking, yoga. Being outside. Basically anything being active. I’m a simple girl

i love soup in a mug. anything in a mug. i love mugs.
November 4th, 2009 at 11:07 pm
I love the starbucks holiday cups and drinks. I also love the smell of Whole Foods’ cinnamon-scented pinecones. The scent envelopes me when I walk through the doors of the store and I love the feeling of holiday joy that it brings
November 4th, 2009 at 11:36 pm
the lingering aroma of fresh baked muffins is brightening my spirits right now. upside of living in a ridiculously tiny apartment: when you bake, the entire apartment, not just the kitchen, smells amazing.
I love to eat out of mugs too! mugs and mixing bowls are really the only serving vessels I use
classy, no?
November 5th, 2009 at 12:12 am
lol, get back to work! But dreaming about your breakfast sounds like something I would do, too!
Fresh-brewed coffee, freshly-done essays, slightly burnt cheese, sizzling bacon and sausages, feeling hungry when I know I’ll be able to eat dinner soon…
November 5th, 2009 at 6:46 am
What a great blog!! I love the idea of Apple Pie Oats. I’ve never had cereal with yogurt – just with milk – I should try it I guess, seems popular.
Hmm..my spirits high? Well, I seen Xmas lights out last evening on my run – yes, it’s super early and normally I’d roll my eyes – but then I thought “Who am I to judge? People can live how they want…and besides I LOVE this time of year – so bring it on!!!” . Also, it was dark out – but so crisp and clear on my run – the kind you get rosy red cheeks…but numb hands which is not so cool!
Can I add you to my Roll?? Check out my site if you like (I’m new to this and lovvvvve new readers and feedback
– add me to your ROLL if you like please !!
November 5th, 2009 at 7:12 am

Same! My roommates had starbucks yesterday and the sight of those little holiday cups made me soooo happy! I squealed in delight, no joke.
And whoahh-hold on a second girlllllll. I MUST re-create that yog mess asap (well, once i’m home…since the dcd is chillin’ there)!! I’ve never thrown some dcd lovin’ in the mix. You’re genius.
But sorry that you’ve been working so much! Someone deserves more starbucks holiday cheer, yogurt messes and oatmeal in her life
LOVE YOU!
