After two days of Thanksgiving indulging, watching lots of movies, playing lots of games + parking my butt on the couch, my body was telling me get backety back…on the normal schedule that is!
I was beginning to feel a bit gross and lethargic (and ahem, gassy) from the food I ate and the lack of exercise. For the record, I feel not a smidge of guilt for anything I ate these past couple days. I just know that the time for splurging is over, and it’s time to get back on the Everythingtarian train of healthy living!
Wooooowoooooo!
First stop this morning…a bowl of Pumpkin Oatmeal!
1/3 cup oats
1/3 water + 1/3 cup organic skim milk
pinch of salt
1/3 cup Libby’s canned pumpkin
drizzle of agave + 1 tsp. brown sugar
cinnamon + pumpkin pie spice
small handful of Barbara’s Cinnamon Puffins
1 100-calorie pack almonds + walnuts
small spoonful PB

Delicious. I think the brown sugar makes all the difference. And I think I might have gotten Daddy Everythingtarian hooked on pumpkin oats as well
.
Unfortunately, I got called into work at the PT job, which meant I had to leave the comforts of home and head back to the city. I stole put together some snacks from the parentals’ house to get me through the afternoon shift…

Luckily, the retail world of home decorating was busy today, and the 4-hr shift passed amazingly fast. Love it.
Then I grabbed a Chobani Greek yog in the flavor of blueberry as a quick pre-workout snack and headed straight for the gym after work.

This picture was oh-so-gracefully taken under the stellar lighting of a street lamp.
I did a rigorous hill climb on the elliptical for 50 minutes while watching a Season 2 marathon of America’s Next Top Model. The best part is I don’t think I would have ellipticalled that long if it wasn’t for Shandi’s infamous hot tub affair and the drama that ensued. Thank you Tyra for continually motivating me to exercise by creating over-the-top TV drama. Thank you.
When I got home, I was ravenous so I heated up the box of Campbell’s/V8 Garden Vegetable Soup I was sent to review for the blog…

It was good! There is 1/2 cup of veggies (= 1 serving) in each serving of soup, and you can actually see the chunks of veggies, which I totally loved. It felt hearty and substantial, which is great because many veggie soups do not leave me feeling like that. Two thumbs up from your neighborhood Everythingtarian!
Speaking of…have you entered my giveaway to win some of this soup for yourself?
Then, I cooked two eggs sunny side up and am currently eating them and sipping Bigelow Eggnogg’n tea. The rest of this evening shall include taking a bath, catching up on blog reading, organizing some thangs and getting up early to work on some freelance writing projects.
Stay tuned tomorrow for an update on my End of 2009 Goals!
(SIDE NOTE: Ummm, that could be lamest teaser attempt ever to entice you back to my blog tomorrow. End of 2009 Goals? Lame. I think I need to take a cue from Tyra and promise an Italian hot tub affair a la Shandi.)

End of 2009 goals? I’m cancelling my tickets to the Emmy’s
Jk.
A peanut butter gnu bar holds me over for wayyyy more than 4 hours–I swear those things are like a brick in the stomach, a delicious delicious brick.
My college gym had TVs built into the cardio equipment. I loved watching ANTM while running. Super motivating and entertaining at the same time. Glad I’m not alone.
your oats are incredible holly:)
I got my dad hooked on oats: ‘whipped’ banana oats and peanut butter. He always calls me and lets me know when he’s just made them.
So glad you did not feel guilty about eating, girl! That is great!!
I’ll post the recipe tomorrow
Love your post-thanksgiving day of delicioussss eats! I NEED to make pumpkin oatmeal, stat.
Looking forward to that post!
<3 jess
xoxo
why do your pumpkin oats always look 3000x better than mine?
Lame-o comment, but what kind of camera do you have? Your pictures are great…well, maybe not that street lamp one. My camera sucks rocks and I want a new one for Xmas!
i’mg lad you aren’t feeling guilty! & for some reason, your oats look like the best i’ve seen in the blog world… soo want to try that!
gah..why do your oats always make me hate mine? they are BEAUTIFUL!!
I don’t feel guilty after splurging this holiday either. Somehow a meal full of vegetables balanced out all the pie leaving me completely guilt free!
Welcome home!
I think too often people get “I feel so gross and full of food” confused with “I feel guilty.” I think they’re two different things. I rarely feel guilty about the things that I eat, but that doesn’t always mean I enjoy what they do to my body after :\ (especially since our bodies are so used to relatively “healthy” food!)
That Gnu bar is like the worst thing for me, as I’m a stickler for Canadian/UK spelling. It should be “FlavoUr & FibRE”
Hope you’re having a stellar Sunday Holly!! xo
Call me crazy, but even with all the fiber and veggies and good stuff I eat, that Gnu Fiber Bar still made me a bit…um…noisy after consumption. It was good though!
See? Your teaser could have been worse
ugh, i feel the same way — need to get back on track. looks like you’ve achieved that. maybe one day soon i’ll make a holly-inspired bowl of oats. haven’t had oatmeal in ages — what is UP with me, huh?!
I used to LOVE ANTM! It really is over the top and fantastic gym going material. But somehow Tyra just got too bat shi* crazy for me around season 9…weirdy. Have a good day babycakes! xoxo
watching tv while working out is the best way to keep going, especially if its trashy tv! gotta love it. if real house wives was on, i think i would totes loose track of time!!!!! glad you’ve had a great weekend!
If there was a scandalous event with an Italian man, I’d be back in heartbeat! End of 2009 goals?! Maaaaaaybe not.
Kidding!! Of course I’ll be back! I can’t believe that it’s even ‘End of 2009′ yet! Cray-cray!
I neeeeeeed those oats right now! They look amaze!
That hot tub espisode is THE BEST! Love that season.
And I also love your wise words regarding holidays and indulgence. No guilt, no restricting, just hop back on the regular old bandwagon once life is back to normal! No stress necessary
I watched a few episodes of Keeping Up with the Kardashians at the gym recently and my motivation was through the rough. I heart trashy TV!
I love all the good eats that the holidays bring, but I totally need to get back on the wagon. Friday’s lunch = 3 frosted brownies. Delicious, but not so nutritious! Perhaps a huge junk salad ala Holly is in my future
Ummmm, not to brag or anything, but I know someone who dated Shandi (before he got married). She lives in NYC. Not to be mean, but let’s just say…they’re both horrendous people. Glad she got you through your awesome workout though!
Your oats always amaze me. Pumpkin + Puffins= Sheer Genius.
OMG! these look DELISHHHHHHHHH!!! i haven’t made oatmeal in FOREVER. after the whole celiac encounter i’ve started with the brown rice “oats” and they’re just not the same-more like a pile o’ mush. BUT i have found a bag of gluten free oats this weekend so i’m going to start up with them this week and i will MOST DEFF. be trying this recipe out!!! thanks so much for the insight into how good oats can be-esp. in the winter months!
Do you think you can say “wooooooowooooooooo” and not have me saying aloud “that’s only in the morning!” ? I ask you.
Yum chobani action love. I need to treat myself to some of that goodness soon!
Nothing like pumpkin oats to get the day off to a good start!
your oats look fantastic holly!!!
egg nog tea?! wow that sounds amazing!
Yum, the oats look great!
I’ve been getting slightly stir crazy with all the down time lately. Dare I say I’m exciting to get back to the grind?
love that soup – comfort in a bowl!
muah muah muah! xo
ill be back tomorrow for your 2009 goals as long as one of them involves an r-rated hot tub scene. i hate to admit this, but ive relied on tyra or similar bravo marathons to get me through some extra mileage on the treadmill in the past…sometimes mind numbing crappola is just what i need to relax while working up a sweat. ya know?
I just found the egg nog tea yesterday and I’m obsessed! I actually don’t like real eggnog.. but the tea is fabulous! I’m still on the hunt for pumpkin though!
I’m putting brown sugar in my oats stat!
I really need a part time job! I’m glad you’re liking yours.
And I’m very enticed! Can’t wait for the update
i feel somewhat privileged to know what you are referring to whenever you bust out the WOOWOO! i am laughing my ass off at your side note…
Oh, Holls! You KNOW we’re all coming back for more whether you give us an incentive or not!
Your pumpkin oats are always so divinee!!! I totally blew it and neglected to create a bowl for myself this week!! Will do over xmas break though, PROMISE!!! And just how you do. Walnuts, brown suga, pumpkin & peanut buttttttta!
Talk soon!! Maybe later tonight?! yayy, XOXOX
