The New Samantha Brown
Thank you all SO MUCH for your wonderful comments on yesterday’s post!
Not only was the support overwhelming, but many of you could relate to this dilemma. I will definitely be able to blog on the days I only have to work one job, but on the other days…we will see how that goes. If blogging paid the bills, we could all blog regularly + comment our buns off. However, as much as I’d like that to be true, it’s not. It’s easy to want to up readership, get more comments and grow your blog…heck, I do! But along with dreams, there’s got to be a healthy dose of reality.
Plus, if I was a professional full-time blogger, how would I ever host my own show on the Travel Channel? Or how would Kailey and I ever get our own joint show on the Travel Channel?
Move over Samantha Brown, Snackface and Everythingtarian are coming after you!
As much as I would love to continue to babble on about my ultimate dream job, there is food to be had here – including a stellar bowl of Pumpkin Cranberry Oatmeal this morning!
1/3 cup oats
1/3 cup water + 1/3 cup organic skim milk
1/3 cup canned pumpkin
drizzle of agave
cinnamon, nutmeg + ginger
1/8 cup dried cranberries
1 spoonful AB

After a couple days of not-so-stellar eating, I vowed to photograph everything I ate today and up my “roughage” intake (which Mama Everythingtarian recommended to get my digestive system back on track). So, I hit up my fave cafe for some salad bar action alongside a bag of BBQ PopChips…

If I remember correctly (which I probably don’t), my salad contained:
- spinach
- cucumber
- beets
- raisins
- broccoli salad
- carrots
- green pepper
- 1 hardboiled egg
- 1/4 cup chickpeas
- 1/4 cup cottage cheese
- tomatoes
- sunflower seeds
- cucumber yogurt dressing
Yes, I think that about covers it.
Snacktime included some chili lime almonds (TDF – to die for)…

…and by the way, I already have several ideas + titles of shows ready in case the Travel Channel calls. FYI.
My pre-workout snack was some homemade nonfat Greek yog + sliced naner + strawberry lavender honey jam. Twas’ delicious, due to the sophistication of that jam. It’s dang good.

After work, I hit up the gym for a 30-minute jaunt on the elliptical before heading to a 60-minute yoga class. Both were quite delightful, although I had a hard time concentrating in yoga class. For some reason, my monkey mind was swinging away, but I finally did scissors pose for the first time. Booyah.

Mine definitely did NOT look that good, however.
When I arrived home, I was STARVING. Enter in poor man’s grilled cheese:

I toasted a French Meadow hemp bagel, then put a couple slices of Wisconsin Aged Cheddar and popped it in the microwave. Welllll….I definitely overtimed that sucker because I ended up with lots of melty cheese on my plate. But I’m not complaining.
Now I am eating a plateful of brussel sprouts, going to go shower, make some more progress on my freelance writing project and get to bed a bit early tonight.
Thanks again for all the love.
Y’all are the best.
Peace.
What is your dream job? Look above. If that doesn’t come true however, I would be more than happy to take over from Oprah or replace Casey Wilson on Saturday Night Live .
P.S. Do you guys like the small font or the new larger font better? Is it easier to read?

1. I like this size font better.
2. I have FOUR dream jobs – Forensic Anthropologist, RD, Actress, Restraunteer. It’s kind of a problem.
3. Who the heck makes that jam, I need it, asap!
December 3rd, 2009 at 9:22 pm
Girl, you are the best! Whenever you have time do a lil blogging, I can guarantee you we will read it
So many good eats today – those french meadow bagels are the best I’ve ever had! I love topping them with peanut butter, raspberry jam, and sliced banana.
p.s. re: yesterday – i have totally eaten multiple bags of pop chips in one sitting. those single servings are just too small!
December 3rd, 2009 at 9:26 pm
Cheese + bread = amazing
December 3rd, 2009 at 9:34 pm
All this cheese looks AMAZING!
December 3rd, 2009 at 9:46 pm
Your oats and salad look delish! And I hear ya on the blogging dilemma. Don’t worry about not being able to post sometimes–I know sometimes I don’t when life/school gets crazy
My dream job is working in a fun, private practice physical therapy clinic
Hopefully that’ll become reality in like, 7-8 years. Ha!
December 3rd, 2009 at 10:07 pm
Ain’t nothing wrong with some melty cheese – especially when accompanied by a bagel…!
Like the new larger font too…although I have retched vision so I’m totally biased…!
December 3rd, 2009 at 10:15 pm
Where do you take yoga classes? I’m going to Inner Fire yoga tomorrow!
December 3rd, 2009 at 10:24 pm
I didn’t comment on your post last night because I figured you would have a bountiful amount to read, so:
1. You are AMAZING that you juggle everything you do, so don’t ever feel like you HAVE to go beyond what makes YOU happy
2. I like the bigger font!
3. My dream job, besides an RD which I’m pursuing, would be an interior decorator.
4. I can’t wait to meet up for lunch sometime soon. I was just looking my calendar and finals are SO SOON so I’m thinking maybe next semester would be good! I would hate to be trying to enjoy lunch with you and thinking about school!
December 3rd, 2009 at 10:41 pm
Dang girl, you are one busy chick! Tomorrow is a no go unfortunately, but I’ll shall return to Madison sometime soon!
1: I like this font better
2. Dream job: I want to own a bakery/cafe. I guess it’s fitting that I work in commercial baked goods now!
December 3rd, 2009 at 10:45 pm
Those chile lime almond suckers look outstanding!
Regardless of how it may of looked, the fact that you were able to pull off that freakish yoga pose impresses me big time. I still go on my knees for plank push-ups for crying out load.
Hemp bagels and real Wisconsin cheddar? Yummmmm.
Love you lady!
December 3rd, 2009 at 10:48 pm

Dream job es lo mismo as yours. Duh. I say we triple team Travel Channel for some Healthy Snack Diaries. Like you, I constantly think of show ideas. Sometimes I make life decisions with my travel show in mind?
Oh also, those almonds. Need them. AHORA.
December 3rd, 2009 at 11:43 pm
I would DVR a Snackface/Everythingtarian travel show every week. Can you work in some random song outbursts in a Glee like fashion? That would be awesome. Thanks.
My dream job would be to get paid more for blogging (duh) but also to write a book! I don’t know, though, right now I have it pretty darn good.

I just read your post from yesterday and boy can I ever relate. (Thus not reading yesterday’s post until today.) Live your life girl, we’ll be here to read about whenever you post! (Even if it’s the next day or the day after.)
And scissors pose? I had no idea a pose like that even existed!
My dream job is working for myself. I guess I’ve got my dream job right now as a stay at home mom. Wow, I did it! I scored my dream job! Sort of.
December 4th, 2009 at 5:42 am
I didn’t respond yesterday and am just reading now. Fab post and understand 100%- I think I’ve stopped blogging. Or seem to have, at least. Sometimes other stuff just needs my focus and attention- in an ideal world, Id blog all day. I think my dream job would be travelling the world and blogging/eating my way through it
Scissor pose looks awesome. I bet you would be awesome in a breakdancing class- a lot of the yoga poses are similar to the freezes used in the dancing
December 4th, 2009 at 5:55 am
I always wanted to be a sleeping bag tester.
December 4th, 2009 at 6:51 am
Something where I could run/work out all day. Of course that would mean I’d have to be able to do that and right no um not so much. My IT Band is KILLING me lol
One of these days though I’m gonna be hard core!
I hope you get your job on the travel channel! Maybe you should do an audition on the blog? Never know who is blog stalking you!
December 4th, 2009 at 7:04 am
I have had those chili lime almonds and they are ah-mazing. Seeing as you’ve stolen my dream job (do you think the Travel Channel could handle 3 of us?) I would love to be a product developer for an outdoor gear company. I work for one such company right now, so hopefully I’m on track to make this dream come true!
December 4th, 2009 at 7:17 am
Hey Holly, there is drool running off my face right now. Deeeeeelish-us salad bar, I want those oats, and if I wasn’t scared of cheese, I would be hopping all over that bagel. I think I want all those things today. xoxo

Dream job?? Oh, definitely live in a wine-producing region of France and work at a vineyard, obvi.
December 4th, 2009 at 7:51 am
I just tried doing that pose and fell flat on my face…haha! I guess I should go do a google search on how to slowly work my way into it rather then jumping on the floor and expecting it to just sort of fall into place.
Totally love your dream job idea!
I think if I could have any job, I would be a personal chef for a famous, non-picky, adventurous, foodie celebrity. That might be fun.
December 4th, 2009 at 8:19 am
Nothing like a big salad to make you feel like you are back on track!

You would be awesome on the Travel Channel!!!
I don’t care about the specifics…I just want a job working for someone or something I believe in and am passionate about, and I want to love what I do. Doesn’t sound that hard, right? Too bad it’s hard to find

Oh, I’m in love with every single thing you consumed today. Need me some dairy soon.
LOVE YOU. Hope booking that flight went well
December 4th, 2009 at 12:30 pm
Bigger is better!
That melty cheesy bagel looks unbelievably fantastic. Butt loads of melted cheese = best thing on earth. Now I’m hungry.
Those almonds also look rocking. I could do with a salad like that…wish I could afford a jaunt to whole foods or something. Sob. My lunch salad is basically spinach, cranberries and pecans. Blah.
Love you – happy weekend almost! I am so ready! xx
December 4th, 2009 at 1:18 pm

I have two dream jobs. One I’m striving for right now – to be a fitness/nutrition coach in a women’s gym, with some health writing on the side. But I also still dream of owning my own cafe some day.

You would make an awesome Travel Channel host
Dream Job(s): Novelist, Food Critic (aka Top Chef judge)
December 4th, 2009 at 3:45 pm
Holly I totally understand your dilemma with the blogging and sympathize completely. ACTUALLY, my company lawyer pulled me aside to tell me that the blog is dangerous. Er…ok. He would have liked me to delete it, but this is what i love so…it’s a little hush hush right now. Most of the time, i’m so overworked it’s hard to blog more frequently, but you have to have faith in your readers Holly!! We’ll keep coming back and reading! We’re gonna bang down your door to make sure you don’t forget us!!
I had to google samantha brown. OH shame. My dream job is to be a dentist for 3 days a week and a baker/shop ower for the 4. Geting thing…slowly!
December 4th, 2009 at 4:01 pm
I think you would make a FABULOUS addition to the Travel Channel. Hmm, I wonder how you could find some connections, because I agree, this would be the ideal dream job for such a girl as yourself.
All of your photographed eats look awesome, and even if you snuck a few BLT’s here and there, no one will ever know!
Those don’t count though.
Hope you have a wonderful evening love!
December 4th, 2009 at 5:12 pm

December 5th, 2009 at 6:24 am
