The ‘Vu

It all started with a case of the ‘Vu.

The deja vu, that is.  Look familiar?

Perhaps I ate the same thing yesterday?  I mean, PB+B toast NEVER lets me down.

Weird.  Carrots + PB…have I eaten that recently too?

Oh yes…YESTERDAY.  It really was such an easy game to play.

More Veggie Spaghetti?  YES PLEASE.

I decided that in order to avoid a full on deja vu, I needed to spice things up somehow.  That meant 1/2 cup dried berries + 1 tbsp. carob chips for dessert.  And man, twas’ a tasty combo.

However, it wasn’t long before I went back to my ‘Vu ways…

Just in case y’all didn’t know, there is in fact a strip club nightclub called Dejavu in Minneapolis that we Minnesotans frequently refer to as the ‘Vu.  Just for clarification, this post is in NO way referring to said stripper dance palace.  When I say ‘Vu, I am talking about the phenomenon commonly referred to as deja vu.  For the record.

I skedaddled out of work early to get my SALSA on! Oh yes, yours truly merigue-ed her heart out today with 60-year-old Doug, who has two artificial hips and a sunburned face.  I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again – the man can move! He is my fave dance partner by far.

After salsa class but before Spanish class, I grabbed a bowl of Old Faithful…

“Old Faithful” being a vegetarian fajita burrito bowl (with extra guac – Chipotle’s is TDF!)  Man, if only I could deja vu this bowl everyday for the rest of my life.

A new froyo placed opened in Madtown, and it just so happened I had about 20 minutes still before la clase de Espanol

Pomegranate tart yogurt (!!!), pom seeds + yogurt chips. It was life changing.  I’m not even being dramatic about that.  I swear.  There will be about 100 more deja vus of this in my future.  I am certain.

Since I missed the bus, missed a 2nd bus and then remembered I had no money to buy a ticket for the bus, I had to walk two miles home in the frozen tundra that is currently Wisconsin.  The only bright spot in this otherwise depressing and crabby walk was this sight glowing over me…

We do it right in Wisconsin.  The Capitol dome has gone red for “Go Red for Women” month to raise awareness about heart disease.  It’s the little things.

When I arrived home, I got this adorable magnet from my dear friend Ruthie

Such a good reminder, no?

Alright, after a looooonnnnngggg day, I am ready for bed.  I was going to do the dishes that have been sitting in my sink for two days now, start my freelance writing project + send out some necessary emails, but that is going to wait.  Call me a procrastinator, call me lazy, call me smart – but really, just call it deja vu.

That was my exact to-do list for yesterday.

YUM. I want frozen yogurt right now. There isn’t a good place for it in my town. :(

  2. Kailey (SnackFace) Says:

While I love some of the things you’ve eaten, I question your supporting Chipotle. And why haven’t you thought to entertain us enough? Why must you eat the same things every day?

KIDDING. I have those fears when blogging, though!

You know what would have made that walk better? Me with my snotty nose by your side. Hahaha ok, maybe not.

Um, my to-do list has been on repeat for weeks: Do Media Law readings–ALL of it. Poor thing.

Muffin is feeling so much better and I have to update you pronto. Love you!! xoxoxo

  3. Adrien Says:

you need to post the beyonce video with this write up- just to get the point across that it wasn’t a day with good ol faithful, it was deja vu

  5. Mama Pea Says:

Oh the ‘Vu. ” Welcoming to the stage…get your dollar bills ready…for Mama Pea!!!” Okay, maybe not, but we do have a vegan strip club in PDX. If Pea Daddy was into that kind of thing, he’d have my blessing ;)

  6. Jamie @ River Runs Says:

oh my the ‘Vu haha! I interned a few blocks from there last summer and had to bike past it every day! Its those few places that make the warehouse district a little bit on the sketchy side!
I love ‘vu (food) days and if I suddenly find something I suddenly love eating, I’ll eat the same thing again the next day or two =)

  7. Jessica @ How Sweet It Is Says:

Oooh I am quite the procrastinator, too. No judgement.

  8. Lauren Says:

Your bowl of “Old Faithful” has me beyond excited for my Chipotle date with a friend on Friday. Oh, such love for this place. Although, I’m pretty sure they could fill that bowl with just the guac and I would be in ultimate euphoria.

    Amazing!

Love that magnet. The perfect mantra!

<3 you dear friend. Hope you are having the best week.

  9. Erica Says:

I love your day of Vu! Seriously…how good are carrots with nut butter? I can’t get enough of this lately. I was craving it like mad when I got home from work yesterday and it was the perfect pre gym snack. VERY jealous of the froyo and Chipotle. I have written Chipotle several letters asking them to open in Charleston and basically got a big fat nope…we’re not planning on it=bahhhh! Hope you have another fabulous day of Vuuuuu

  10. Kristie Says:

  15. Katie Says:

When I read the title, I couldn’t wait to comment and tell you that WE have a strip club called DejaVu (casually known as The ‘Vu)…and then you beat me to it.

Why is that a common strip club name??

  16. Lauren @ Eater not a runner Says:

That fro-yo looks amazing! Pom flavored!?

  17. Whit Says:

Doug sounds awesome. Hook a sistah up?

What she failed to tell ya’ll is that she complained, whined and whimpered in my ear the whole two mile walk home- only for me to laugh and tell her to hike up her skirt. Bitches unite!!!!

  21. Megan (The Runner's Kitchen) Says:

peanut butter + banana on toast never lets me down either – breakfast of champions!

  22. K Says:

Ah we have a strip club called Deja Vu too! Not that I’ve ever been because I’m afraid I’d get some disease just walking in there.

No hating from me on the Deja Vu foods because I do the same thing – if it ain’t broke, you know?!

  23. Kacy Says:

That froyo looks seriously insane. Even in freezing temps. Love the dome! My j-school at OU had a lit dome and it made me supah happy.

Lovin’ the Vu! Being the leftover lover that I am, ‘Vu happens to me quite often. And not the stripper kind :)

Have a wondermous fantabuful day dearest!

  24. Serena Says:

    I *love* carrots & PB.
Have you ever tried Sunbutter? It’s toasted sunflower seeds turned nut butter and it’s amazing (almost peanutty) …very decadent & great with carrots :D

  25. Susan Says:

Fun fact: my high school was across the street from both a strip club and motorcycle shop. Class-y.

    1st Amendment Power!

  29. The Brunette Says:

I defintely eat the same thing for days in a row. I love it one day, so obviously have to have it again the next. And, repeat, until a new combo/meal pops into my head, and the cycle begins again!

  30. Michelle Says:

OHH lordy Everythingtarian always inspires me to re-look at all my favorite naughty foods and healthify them. I LOVE the chickpeas inside your spagg. That’s genious!!! I totally want to make that now that I’ve seen it!! And it’s OK to see some deja vu with meals, particularly those yummy looking breakfasts. No jam with your pb?? What a travesty!! hehehe

OOOH the pom froyo looks awesome. Your toppings really enhance the froyo. :P

  31. Lindsey @ Eat, Read, Run Says:

I’m a frequent repeater of my favorite foods or leftover foods. If it works once, do it again. But I need to find a balance with no over using some foods.

  32. Naomi(onefitfoodie) Says:

hahaah nightclub or stripclub?! all sounds fun to me :)

oh, the ‘vu. The kid who’s dad owns it went to my high school and let’s just say…they look like they would own that club…and i’m pretty sure the wife worked there….classy, right. i would kill for some vege-chipotle right now…the Japanese idea of “Mexican” food is having a softshell taco with beef, cheese, and a hotdog. I just gagged in my mouth thinking about it. They also represent American with Spam…too funny.

  41. Jenny Says:

Mmm dried berries+chocolate are an awesome combo!

And I’m loving you taking Spanish classes, I bet that’s a great way to “spice” up your days and have some fun during the week…or maybe I’m just a nerd and love school ;)
