a good day

Today was a good day.

Even though I had a killer migraine last night, fell asleep in my work clothes and woke up at 6:30am with crusty mascara and rather large drool stains on my pillow, that really was the worst of my day. Things only went up from there.

I ate the same delicious breakfast I’ve eaten everyday for about three months now.

Enjoyed a walk to work in nearly 70 degree weather.

Ate two brown rice cakes with smashed avocado + a sprinkle of manchego cheese for snack.

Discovered SunChips has a new jalapeño jack flavor. It is to live for.

Tweeted. A lot.

Worked. A lot.

Laughed. A lot.

Read a really good article from the New York Times called, “Is Sugar Toxic?”

Decided to stop drinking soda.

Listened to Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros over and over again.

Dreamed about how cute my and Jake Gyllenhaal’s kids will be (curly hair, blue eyes, adorbs).

Drank Diet Coke.

Then, after work, ran 3 miles and as soon as I finished, was offered a free slice of cheese pizza from two random (yet completely safe and normal-looking) girls on the street. I happily obliged.

Walked another lovely mile home and quickly made my newest dinner obsession.

Roasted Alexia Olive Oil, Parmesan & Garlic Oven Red potatoes.

Spinach sauteed in olive oil + {more} garlic.

Two perfectly runny eggs.

A sprinkle of coarse sea salt.

No joke, I licked my plate clean.

Today would have bee a great day.

But alas, no one is making out with me tonight.

Unless you know any vampires in need of a good warding off?

Goddamn, today just isn’t a good day for making out for anyone. Where’s the fun in that? Boo-urns.

Okay, I haven’t eaten eggs in probably a good tw years, but I’m rethinking that after seeing your dinner.

“Today would have bee a great day.

this is why i adore you. this is my reality every day. everytime i pass by one of the cute guys at work, i’m always like “meh, today’s not going to well. i’m not sitting on their lap. and they are not playing with my hair talking about how pretty i look and talking about how much chocolate they are going to buy me.”

so it goes….
xxoxoxo times a skillion plus one!

VeggieGirl April 13, 2011 at 7:59 pm

Here’s to MORE good days for you! :)

Gavi @ GaviGetsGoing! April 13, 2011 at 8:01 pm

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros make any day a good day. Have you heard the song “Home”? It’s on my running playlist three times. It’s just that good. So happy your day was so great!

lynn @ the actor's diet April 13, 2011 at 8:21 pm

i couldn’t handle that ny times article. i had a tootsie pop instead.

Christine @ Merf In Progress April 13, 2011 at 8:23 pm

I. Want. That. Dinner. OMG.

I’m glad you loved your day! What a great feeling, and you deserve it.

my little celebration April 13, 2011 at 8:36 pm

Great post my dear. And how awesome that two random girls bought you a slice of cheese pizza mid-run? That is just lovely.

Oh, and thanks for turning me on to Eating for England. It’s perhaps my latest blog obsession. She’s great. And yerrrr great.

Off to read that article but your eggs. They make me want to eat eggs every time I see them. Yours look….PERFECT!

BroccoliHut April 13, 2011 at 8:52 pm

I am kind of on a MAJOR fried egg kick these days, so I am loving the looks of your dinner!

In a post-makeout-chat last night, I discovered that the guy I had just been smooching will be my neighbor next year. As in, he will be the boy next door…and yours truly will be the girl next door. Slight potential for disaster…but I’m still calling that a WIN!!

I TOTALLY had those Sun Chips today for the first time too! They were at a work meeting and I looked at the bag a little weirdly before realizing the combo of jalepeno and jack cheese might be amazing and it WAS! I’m not a big chip person but I think I’ll be running out to the store tomorrow to buy these! Glad you had a good day!

Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table April 13, 2011 at 10:25 pm

only you would finish a run and have the good fortune to be offered random pizza. :)

here’s the jamie oliver thing i mentioned earlier on twitter: http://fyiliving.com/health-news/jamie-oliver-food-revolution-kids-want-some-milk-with-that-sugar/

sofia April 13, 2011 at 10:34 pm

you’re awesome. especially for those last two lines. my boy just went to the gym as i arrived at his place (what the heck, it’s 11:30PM!) so no one is making out with me either. not acceptable for a wednesday. not at all.

Kaleigh April 13, 2011 at 11:09 pm

I loooove Edward Sharpe…!!! You just can’t be in a grumper mood when you listen to them!

Adam April 14, 2011 at 12:44 am

brandi April 14, 2011 at 7:11 am

sounds like a good day :)

amanda April 14, 2011 at 7:39 am

free pizza and daydreams about J+H babies sounds just swell. especially the part where you wake up migraine free. even if you did have mascara crusted to your eyes. that steamy bedroom look is so clutch right now!

xoxo

After a lifetime of proclaiming disdain for runny yolks I have recently formed a deep bond with them. They are good and would definitely make for a good day.

Rachel (Olalliberry) April 14, 2011 at 12:49 pm

Thanks for sharing the link to that Gary Taubes NYT article – can’t wait to read it. Your dinner looks awesome, I am always looking for more easy dinner ideas.

emily (a nutritionist eats) April 14, 2011 at 1:25 pm

I want that exact dinner. Exact. :) Hope your weekend is even BETTER!

Megan (Braise the Roof) April 14, 2011 at 1:42 pm

I choose garlic over making out any day of the week. Add some cheese in there and I’m a goner. My day always gets a little brighter after reading your posts. :)

Kristen - Anywhere There's An Airport April 14, 2011 at 4:05 pm

I don’t care what happens in a day – if you can say you laughed A LOT – it is always a good day!! :)

Emma (Namaste Everyday) April 14, 2011 at 4:26 pm

“home” is my favorite song to listen to while I’m homesick for Vermont. Life in New Zealand is great, but there isn’t very good pizza here ;)

Katie April 14, 2011 at 6:23 pm

Ooh I also read that toxic sugar article yesterday, and decided to never eat another birthday treat at school, again.

Also, you and Jake should procreate – those would be tremendously cute kiddos.

caitlin April 14, 2011 at 9:31 pm

Any day with Jake in it is a good day. DROOOOOOOL.

Lauren http://theclimbingchef.blogspot.com/ April 15, 2011 at 1:46 am

That does sound like a great day… and the eggs look amazing!

Jen April 15, 2011 at 5:52 am

You never fail to make me smile :)

Sarah (Running To Slow Things Down) April 15, 2011 at 5:57 am

“It is to live for.”

Um..can I just say that I love this quote? And that I’ll be quoting you from now on? Love it.

Your meal looks fabulous. I’m glad you had a good day! :D

Gillian Young April 15, 2011 at 9:38 am

I want to spend a day with you!

Katie April 15, 2011 at 10:50 am

Perfect day, minus mascara crust. Main reason why I don’t wear mascara anymore!

Emily April 16, 2011 at 11:00 am

WOW that article is intense! I have an extreme fondness for sugar, and will definitely be pondering on this article for the next few days…
