Meet my new friends from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Dietetics and Nutrition Club!
Aren’t they cute?
And the old hag in the striped dress with the nerd glasses in need of a dye job? That’s me!
Would you believe me if I told you I was the guest of honor and host of a dinner AND Q+A with more than 20 members of the Dietetics & Nutrition Club tonight? Would you also believe me if I told you that they wanted me – yes, me! – to come speak to their group about food blogging? Annndddd would you believe me if I told you that it went fabulously and I feel like I just made more than 20 new friends? Because that all happened.
I swear on my beloved cookbook collection and the four pints of ice cream in my freezer.
We cooked. We baked. We chopped. We gabbed. We ate. We watched Wisconsin lose to Syracuse in the Sweet Sixteen (U-rah-rah Wisconsin forever!). We gabbed some more. We chatted about blogs. We taste tested coconut milk ice cream (<- they loved it!). We devoured. We cleaned.
Although let’s not get it twisted…this was less Holly talking about food blogging and more Holly trying to act cool in order to score an invite to the hottest college house party for Friday night. My beer pong game knows no age, my friends.
Technically, I do suppose this is my first Everythingtarian speaking engagement, isn’t it?
Eeep! I sound so professional.
I’d like to think I performed with the panache and humor of a seasoned speaking veteran but really, I just enjoyed chatting with all the members, hearing about their future career plans, talking food and nutritional yeast and kale and how to cook quinoa and expunging the wonders of food blogs. And having people appreciate it!
And I definitely wooed their stomachs with kale chips, Joy the Baker’s Spinach Feta Blood Orange Salad, my Make-Your-Own Quinoa Bowls, Jessica’s Brown Butter Double Fudge Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cookies and POM juice mocktails.
It was truly a lovely, fun + delicious evening.
Thank you again to all of the UW Dietetics and Nutrition Club who came out tonight, Babcock Hall for hosting and a special shoutout to Hannah for making it all happen! You all let me run my mouth about food as much as I wanted, and for that, I am grateful.
Now, about that house party on Friday night…
