all you need is {more} love

While Valentine’s Day is a special 24 hours of getting to shower our loved ones with hugs n’ kisses, attention and red + pink candies (not to mention showering ourselves with 1/2 bottles of wine out of coffee mugs), there’s no reason not to extend Cupid’s holiday.

What’s another 24 hours for love?

Nada.

The world needs more of it.

Tell someone you love that you do in fact love them. Sometimes we need to hear those things out loud, ya know?

Give someone a hug who looks in need of a hug. Don’t be stupid about it though – there are lots of homeless people outside where I work, but I’m nowhere near nice enough to wrap myself around Mr. One Piece Ski Suit in a big ol’ bear hug.

Cook for someone. Something. Anything. Who doesn’t love Kraft Mac + Cheese when they don’t have to make it themselves? Or a turkey sandwich. A good one, with lots of veggies, hummus, mustard + pepperjack cheese, please. Or perhaps a lovely salad.

Two Lover’s Salad with Wisconsin Raspberry Bellavitano, by chance?

Yes, you should make this.

Husbands, boyfriends, moms, dads, sisters, co-workers, best friends, brothers, nieces, nephews – I promise you right now they will all love it. I mean, who isn’t obsessed with pomegranate balsamic vinaigrette? Not anyone I associate with.

But you’re going to have to click here to get the recipe.

And just an FYI, it’s best enjoyed with a 1/2 bottle of wine drunk straight from a coffee mug.

I love that you drink wine out of a coffee mug. It really is the best way to enjoy wine! ;)

VeggieGirl February 16, 2011 at 8:01 am

I agree -the world DOES need more :)

Mmm yummy! I like salad…and I’m not opposed to wine out of coffee mugs. :-)

Everyday should be a day for lover’s. And loves, like wine out of mugs.

brandi February 16, 2011 at 8:12 am

Between my being in the hospital and my uncle being back in the hospital, it seems like lately my family and extended family has been filled with “I love yous.” The support and outreach from them has been amazing. I didn’t have a valentine on monday, but the love from my family was more than enough. It reminds me that it shouldn’t take an emergency for us to show it this much.

P.S. My mom drinks wine out of a coffee mug, but I suspect not for the same reasons you do ;)

That is in my top 5 cheese list. Noms. It was the cheese sample at Whole Foods once, and I ate so much of it, I almost got myself kicked out.

Hey, I get to see you in a month! Now that is something I LOVE!

Amy B @ Second City Randomness February 16, 2011 at 8:36 am

I had this discussion with a friend on Monday after seeing all the dudes rushing to buy huge boquets of flowers and candy and what not…

I’m positive one single rose or love letter or whatever on any other day of the year would mean almost 10x more to me than a dozen roses on Valentine’s day. Because it’s not given by obligation. Another reason why I really don’t get what the big deal about V-Day is…

I think there should be a valetines day each month! so much love around the blog world! I loved it, and the chocolate covered everything wasn’t so bad either

So true. Its so easy to take for granted the wonderful people in our lives. Mmm yummy salad. Walnuts are awesome as a salad topper. And that cheese? drool!

I’m feeling the love.

Sarah @ onelovesarah February 16, 2011 at 9:35 am

Heather @ Get Healthy with Heather February 16, 2011 at 9:46 am

Love should be shared every day! Inspiring words Holly :)

I really need to adopt this whole “drinking wine out of a mug” thing. Too funny….wine glasses are overrated anyway!

Stephanie @ Thorns Have Roses February 16, 2011 at 10:09 am

*Not anyone I associate with* lol.
I’ve extended this whole week as a week of love. I can’t get enough.

Sami February 16, 2011 at 10:13 am

Ohh, you had me at cheese. I think cooking for someone is the best way to show them you love them. Even if dinner comes out burned, or mushy, or saltier than Bristol Palin after she lost DWTS.

I would cook for you any day, m’dear. :)

Elizabeth@The Sweet Life February 16, 2011 at 11:37 am

Cooking for someone–and being cooked for–is such a great way to show love!

emily (a nutritionist eats) February 16, 2011 at 12:20 pm

YUM! That cheese is SO good!

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) February 16, 2011 at 4:43 pm

I totally agree! Extend the days of love… how about… every day! :)

That salad looks amazing!

julie February 16, 2011 at 7:46 pm

can we talk about the fact that you made avacado lime cake. oh MY god like omg i want a piece of that so bad. and i think that if i have the time this weekend that is something i will definitely be making haha

Jess February 16, 2011 at 8:17 pm

I think it’s hilarious/awesome that you drink wine out of a mug!

Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine February 17, 2011 at 6:38 am

I like the mug idea. It reminds me of when I still lived in dorms, and we only had mugs to drink out of. It also reminds me of a girl on my floor freshman year who would bring a 32 oz aluminum travel mug full of Franzia to her morning classes. There might have been a problem there.
