Chews Our Own Adventure

in you decide

Midday HOLLA!

In preparation for the uber-important men’s figure skating long program tonight, Brett and I need YOUR help!  We need to craft the perfect Olympics viewing meal, and we can’t figure out what to make.  Here are our two options:

Option 1

Brett’s Asian Zang Soup

A rich, chicken soup base with lime juice, red pepper flakes, vegetables and chicken.

Note: We are NOT sub-consciously cheering for Daisuke Takahashi from Japan.  Johnny Weir 4 life!

Option 2

Marinara Faux-Chicken over Italian Pasta

Whole wheat pasta, Gardein marinara faux-chicken breasts, spaghetti sauce + veggies.  With a side of Evan Lysacek thrown in for good measure.

What do you think? Asian-inspired soup or an Italian pasta meal…the gold medal winning dinner will make its Olympic debut in the next post!

Soup would be much better for Olympics-watching! You can keep your eyes more on the athletes and worry less about twirling pasta gracefully on your fork.

Option 2 all the way! Love the new layout

Kacy February 18, 2010 at 12:41 pm

I vote for the pasta! Only because I’m a fake chicken lover to my core.

Allison R. February 18, 2010 at 12:42 pm

Pasta! Watching athletic events qualifies for fueling as if you were in them, right? Right.

Sarah February 18, 2010 at 12:44 pm

I vote for the Asian inspired soup. Winter Olympics = cold and the soup sounds like the perfect fix for that!

Matt February 18, 2010 at 12:46 pm

Option two!

Mmm, that soup sounds delicious – I vote for a nice warm bowl of soup! Of course that’s hoping that tonight’s events won’t induce the same cringing that last night’s did – otherwise soup might be dangerous and messy. But figure skating should be much safer than downhill skiing. Let’s hope.

Soup all the way! No doubt! Spicy and sweet, loving it! Extra veggies (sun dried tomato?) for me please.

Maya February 18, 2010 at 12:48 pm

Soup! It sounds really pho-esque, and I love pho. Maybe throw in some rice noodles?

Morgan @ Life After Bagels February 18, 2010 at 12:54 pm

too sad to choose, my medal dreams for Canada are not as secure as yours tonight . . . (Patrick Chan is currently in 7th)

Lauren @ Eater not a runner February 18, 2010 at 1:11 pm

I’m having pasta tonight, so I’ll have to vote for that!

Katie February 18, 2010 at 1:12 pm

I just had choice #2 for lunch (but with faux noodles as well)… pretty good! But… the soup also sounds pretty fabulous. Soup!

Ally (Sweet & Savory) February 18, 2010 at 1:15 pm

I’m thinking pasta…those figure skaters need their carbs for energy!

SOUP SOUP SOUP! I am such a sucker for good soup. I hope whichever one you pick turns out amazing!

Adrien February 18, 2010 at 1:29 pm

Asian- did you see the Italian guy skate?! that has bad luck written all over it!

Susan February 18, 2010 at 1:46 pm

Go Italian! China was rockin’ the pairs, but I’m thinking the Westerners are gonna take the men’s tonight!

Catie February 18, 2010 at 1:50 pm

I say, SOUP!

Susan February 18, 2010 at 2:03 pm

I vote soup!! Soup is all warm and cozy, and would be the perfect meal to eat if you were watching the skating live at the rink :)

Madeline - Greens and Jeans February 18, 2010 at 2:05 pm

Definitely soup. However, you need something amazing and supa fierce to eat for dessert…

The Brunette February 18, 2010 at 2:17 pm

Asian asian asian!

ellie February 18, 2010 at 2:40 pm

ITALIAN. Every time. Pasta > lime sauce, anyday. Plus the theme can carry on into both wine and dessert…tiramasu, zabzglione, raspberries with marsapone cheese? Followed by a strong espresso and pistachio biscotti. WIN.

Mama Pea February 18, 2010 at 3:37 pm

Pasta. You have to watch a soup spoon to your mouth to prevent it from dripping down your shirt. Or maybe that’s just me.

Nicole @ Geek Turned Athlete February 18, 2010 at 4:50 pm

Option 1 sounds absolutely delicious! Have fun!

Ashley February 18, 2010 at 4:56 pm

Pasta all the way! Eat the carbs for the athletes! :-)

Tyler February 18, 2010 at 5:50 pm

i vote asian soup!!! sounds interesting and delicious! but also, faux meat makes me kinda nervous, so that makes me kinda biased against the italian option…

Katie February 18, 2010 at 6:03 pm

2 all the way baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cant wait to watch it tonight!!!!! xoxoxo

Naomi(onefitfoodie) February 18, 2010 at 6:30 pm

PASTA!!! watch the olympics, eat like an olympian :)

Jess February 18, 2010 at 8:40 pm

Pasta all the way!!

daintyvegan February 18, 2010 at 9:06 pm

It’s probably too late for my input but I would go with option numero 2! Sounds gooooooooooooood.
