Completely Worth It

in blog stuff,rambling

Thank you so much for all your sweet comments on my new header! I am quite in love with it and cannot thank Emily enough for her amazing, handdrawn work. Check out her blog. She’s beyond talented and has killer style.

As I look back at my latest posts, it turns out I’ve been a bit of a bad blogger this last week. My camera is sadly devoid of new food photos (even though I’ve eaten ridiculously delicious things like seaweed salad, sushi, Spicy African Peanut Stew and a big ol’ everything bagel with full fat cream cheese), but I’ve been having a lot of fun, so me thinks it’s been completely worth it.

I mean…

  • Girl Talk concert on Monday <- best dance party ever
  • Tuesday girls’ night with my ladies <- ended with frozen yogurt, need I say more?
  • manicures, shopping, dinner + belting it out in the car to The Darkness with my lovely friend Ilsa tonight <- *ahem* spent wayyyy too much money at Anthropologie *ahem*

As I’ve mentioned before, sometimes life takes over.

And ya know what?

That’s totally okay.

Tomorrow is shaping up to be a busy day at work, but I promise I’ll be back with food soon.

Until then…

Is there any better affirmation than that?

I think not.

What is the best thing YOU’VE eaten this week? Mine is a tie between the yummy seaweed salad with sesame ginger dressing I had for dinner tonight or the glazed cake doughnut I had Monday. Could those two things be any different?

Would you like to see fashion posts/pictures of outfits I wear on the blog? Food will definitely remain the main focus of the blog, but I’m toying around with the idea – feedback is welcome!

I made myself a spicy miso stew, with a few spoonfuls of peanut butter added for creamy goodness! It was gingery, garlicky, tofu-y, vegetable-y heaven.

Fashion=YES

Best thing I’ve eaten this week…? Easy. Sweet potato fries from a local restaurant. I swear they were double friend and topped with crack.

Kelly March 9, 2011 at 9:50 pm

Definitely the donut muffins from Side Of Sneakers. I need to make some more!

Also YES to fashion posts! You have cute unique Madisony style, I would love to see some posts about it. :)

Mara @ What's For Dinner? March 9, 2011 at 9:53 pm

Ok, I love the header, I guess I missed that yesterday… SO cute.
I’m stealing the other photo as my wallpaper for my computer :) Love you!

Maybe lame but we have weekly orientation events for my job (1-3 per week) for the next few months and the closing ceremonies have the best cookies! I snagged myself a sugar and peanut butter cookie and they were totally worth all the fat and glorious calories :)

I would love to see your outfits!

sofia March 9, 2011 at 10:10 pm

i just want hairdo’ pictures. all hair, only hair, every day.

kidding. anyyyway, let life get in the way. it’s way more worth it than blogging. fo’ sho’.

best thing i’ve eaten all week? well, there was a lot of guac on sunday, that was awesome. even more awesome was that it was followed by farewell-NYC-pizza. in salt lake, i’ve had a killer veggie sandwich (uhh, twice) from the lovely room service menu here at the hotel. then there was a fabulous meal with janetha (which you shoulda been at) with another awesome sandwich. let’s just say my whole life is pretty darn delicious, and my wallet is suffering as a result. ouchie.

Susan March 9, 2011 at 10:11 pm

Best thing I’ve eaten? Ooohhhman there have been some particularly outstanding things this week. Either the pork belly BLT I had yesterday or the caramel brownies my roommie made :)

Yes to fashion! I need help!

Girltalk has made my life more enjoyable on countless occasions.
Also, I pride myself on being able to hit that high note in “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” with absolute perfection :)

Love the new header!

Eden March 10, 2011 at 1:45 am

I love your new header, holly! I’m currently redesigning mine, its gonna be good!
Anthro tends to rape my wallet, so I try to avoid it.
Anyhow, my dad cooked me a really good piece of salmon. It was simple, but I think the fact that he made it for me made it taste like heaven.
in all honesty, I don’t love it when bloggers show what they wore. Sometimes its cool, but I mainly feel bad that I dress like a hobo. But then again, you have good taste, so maybe I could learn a thing or two.

Nikki March 10, 2011 at 3:03 am

I’d love to see some fashion posts on the blog. And I didn’t get a chance to comment before but the new header is BEAUTIFUL.

Susan March 10, 2011 at 6:23 am

I was so obsessed with Girl Talk in high school. His concerts are ridiculous!

1. I’ve eaten so much tasty food since I’ve been home on spring break. Nothing fancy, just lots of eggs, oat bran, roasted squash – the usual!

2. I think you are so stylish, so YES please! I can use some help in the area ; )

chelsey @ clean eating chelsey March 10, 2011 at 6:29 am

I’ve been a bad blogger lately too – I don’t even rememeber the last time I took a new picture. Whoops.

Annie March 10, 2011 at 8:01 am

I love The Darkness! I’m always excited ti know others like them. :)

Elizabeth@The Sweet Life March 10, 2011 at 8:42 am

1. My latest pancake creation: spiced vegan buckwheat pancakes :D.

brandi March 10, 2011 at 9:20 am

Happy Thursday friend! :)

Rachel @ Grateful Girl Goes Gluten Free March 10, 2011 at 10:07 am

I was at girl talk too hahahahaaa! The best thing I’ve had this week is homemade soup my mom dropped off for me! I think you should definitely do fashiony posts! Rock it girl!

Sarah @ One Love Sarah March 10, 2011 at 10:12 am

Michelle March 10, 2011 at 10:40 am

Yes, I’d love to see what you’re wearing! Could you include details like where it’s from, how much it cost, etc.? I’m always looking for fashion inspiration and it’s just fun to swap ideas :-)

Sami March 10, 2011 at 12:54 pm

lisampls March 10, 2011 at 1:25 pm

YES!! Show us the Anthro purchases!! Love hints of fashion mixed in with bowls of food! xo

Heather @ Get Healthy with Heather March 10, 2011 at 1:36 pm

It sounds like you are having too much fun to apologize for not having food pics, no worries lady! My best food so far has to be my cocoa kissed pumpkin cake. Oh my. So good.

Megan (Braise the Roof) March 10, 2011 at 1:48 pm

Best thing I’ve eaten lately was the sweet and sour chicken I made. It was hard not to finish off all 2 breasts worth in one sitting, I’m not gonna joke you. Also, The Darkness ROCKS my world. I’m even toying with the idea of making “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” my new karaoke song.

Lauren http://theclimbingchef.blogspot.com/ March 10, 2011 at 2:17 pm

I also love The Darkness and understand the need to sing loudly to all of their songs. Sometimes I can’t help but sing along to them while running at the gym :)

I’ve been sick so the best thing I’ve eaten this week has to be shrimp in beef broth Pho and lemonade fruit bars :)

Your cute outfits are always a welcome site… I like your socks!

Cara @ Chic Meets Healthy March 10, 2011 at 9:17 pm

the best thing i ate this week was burgers with laughing cow french onion cheese and homemade spicy backed fries! love your header!

Lindsay @ Truffles of Truth March 10, 2011 at 9:20 pm

The new header is GORGEOUS!

Best thing I’ve eaten this week…. possibly the pizza I made – just a whole wheat crust loaded with veggies, but it was perfect at the time! artichokes, baby portabellos, and mozzarella rock my word.

And yes to the fashion posts! I love your style, you always look so effortless and chic!

Sana March 10, 2011 at 9:31 pm

Loving the bloggy lift!

courtney March 10, 2011 at 9:49 pm

fashion would be fun!

Alison March 10, 2011 at 9:56 pm

YES to fashion. When I am behind on my reader and can only scroll through, you’re the first I go to just to see if I can see what fabulous clothing ensembles you’ve whipped up. Other days, I’m thankful (so thankful) for your eats…but, don’t shy away from the duds.

Danielle March 10, 2011 at 10:40 pm

Your new header is absolute perfection. Beautiful and fun, just like you. The feel of it actually reminds me of your apartment which is probably weird of me to notice but true :)

Sarah (Running To Slow Things Down) March 11, 2011 at 5:39 am

YES to fashion! I absolutely love your sense of style. :D

Favorite thing eaten this week: yogurt mess with green grapes and a blueberry muffin with almond butter. Delish. :D

Pure2raw twins March 11, 2011 at 6:11 am

Love the new header!!! We want to really change ours still trying to figure out what we want though ,haha

Lindsay @ Pinch of Yum March 11, 2011 at 7:01 am

Yes to the outfits!

And the best thing I’ve eaten this week was this Caramelized Banana and Fig Oatmeal. http://pinchofyum.com/post/3762213839/caramelized-banana-and-fig-oatmeal

And I love the new header! So cute!! And even though I don’t know you personally… it seems like it fits your style. :)

Madeline - Greens and Jeans March 11, 2011 at 7:59 am

You know how I feel about fashion. So yes. Please. I’m already picturing a whole post of Madeline and Holly fashion when you come to play with me.

Gillian Young March 11, 2011 at 11:49 am

YES to fashion posts! I love your fashion you always look incredible! If only I could get my hair to curl like yours?

Best thing I ate this week– ooh toughie. The bounty bar pudding I made was pretty divine. But the roasted squash and cauliflower with coconut kale chips were pretty fricking fabulous. Man I love eating.

Jess March 11, 2011 at 9:24 pm

I don’t know about you, but every meal i eat i think is best because i get so hungry easily ;)

Jessica March 13, 2011 at 6:10 am

Check out this new header!! Adorbz.
So my mom’s and her best friend are visiting me in Barcelona this week (!!), and last night we ended up at this cute, vegetarian restaurant…had the most amazing baked spinach & lentil-stuffed bell peppers (with this smoky olive oil dressing on top!), and vegan, rice milk-based chocolate-y, coffee ice cream for dessert. nom nom

PS, if you’re shopping at anthro…I definitely wanna see it! Loooove me some anthropology.

Damaris @Kitchen Corners March 14, 2011 at 11:44 am

Your header looks great. It’s worth to spend the extra money for a redesign for sure, as long as you’re happy with the results.
