in dinner,eating out,meet-up

Courtesy of my girl Whit (and her camera), this will most likely be the only post I make from Charlotte.

Damn you camera.

Anyways, I was suriously pumped to meet Whit.  She’s fun, funny and fabulous – so, what’s NOT to love?  Andddd…she’s got just about the sweetest Southern accent you could ever imagine.  Not to mention, she voluntarily went out of her way to pick me up for dinner.  Ummm…are you sensing a girl crush? Because I am.

Whit, her fab sister Meredith, Stacey, Jessie and I all met up for some delicious eats at Blu Basil Cafe.

Starting with a scrumptious olive hummus platter + pitas

Before progressing onto a bowl of Butternut Squash Ravioli + pita (ordered by both Whit and myself)…

And finally, what would be a blogger dinner without dessert?  That would be THREE kinds of dessert, with a special modeling session thrown in for good measure…

That would be (1) Turtle Cheesecake, (2) Triple-Layer Chocolate Cake with a side of I-need-to-get-my-hair-highlighted-real-bad, and (3) Tiramisu.  Each and every one was amaze.

And of course, a group shot of all the ladies!

Jessie, Meredith, Whit, moi + Stacey

Thank you gals for a wonderful, foodie-filled evening!

However, the night did not stop there.

Doesn’t every blogger meet-up end with a trip to Marshall’s to try on random things?  I thought so.

I was going for the Nicole Richie-in-50-years beach look.

Why should the Brit’s be the only ones to wear obnoxious wide-brimmed hats?  All we need now is a royal wedding or an ascot horse race, and we are good to go.

Courtesy of Whit + Co., twas’ a fabulous evening.  Thank you so much!

With that, I am going to skedaddle off to bed so Megan and I can enjoy a classy night out in downtown Charlotte tomorrow evening.  Also, (more) shopping may be on the agenda as well as some heavy vino drinking.

I hope you are all having a wonderful week – see you back in the chilly tundra of Wisconsin on Sunday!

PS: if you ever want to leave the frozen tundra, Charlotte makes a fine home. Or you know wherever life takes me in the next few years.

Whit February 5, 2010 at 12:23 am

*and by girl crush, that’s me! I mean that the feeling is mutual.

Looks like a great night out:)

Chelsea @ (Chelsea's Chew and Run Fun) February 5, 2010 at 7:15 am

Man, that looks like a blogger blast! Also, I think those hats would pair nicely with that rockin’ bathing suit. A gal needs to protect herself from the harmful rays of sun on the beach!

I cannot get over that dinner. That butternut squash ravioli really stole my heart. I’m not even going to discuss the desserts, because they’re just too ineffable to touch on.

Glad you’re having fun! Have a fabulous remainder to your trip, Holly Ringwald!

In the words of my idol Liz Lemon, “I want to go to there.” The ravioli? The hummus? The random-acts-of-Marshalls? Sign me up, sister.

Looks fun. Be safe and steal someone else’s camera for a bit.

Random comment: I usually don’t notice details, but that long necklace you are wearing is divine. You pull it off with a first-lady elegance. That’s style!
