Crazy

by Holly on April 21, 2010

in breakfast,dinner,lunch

We’re guilty of it.

Every. Single. One. Of. Us.

Don’t you go and act all innocent on me…

source

Because we’re all crazy in our own ways. For some, it’s ignoring their (also crazy) ex-husband and eight kids to pursue their dream of becoming the ultimate media whore by asking for privacy, yet conveniently pimping themselves out to People magazine for a new interview every other week.

For others, its constantly finding ways to take things over the top with their TV viewers…

source

Let’s be real…we’re all a bit batty.

Some people are just way more so than others…

source

Oops, how did that picture get in there? Mama Pea knows.

Crazy.

It’s in all of us.

And for the past week, my crazy notch has been ratcheted to full throttle. I could blame it on hormones or boys or work or my dirty sink of dishes or my low bank account or the fact I had to turn around THREE times this morning because I forgot (a) my lunch, (b) my cell phone and (c) my workout bag.

In reality, I blame all of it.

By the looks of this seemingly innocent PB+B toast

…you would never know I was downing two cups of coffee, reading e-mails, freaking out about pointless things, thinking and re-thinking every little detail of my life and doing my make-up all at the same time.

My form of crazy is overthinking EVERYTHING and as a result, me being all over the place.

Pretzels + grapes for lunch #1?

Cottage cheese + garbanzos + ranch seasoning alongside pickles for lunch #2?

A Chocolate Chip Peanut Crunch Clif bar for lunch #3?

And two mysterious mini quiches for lunch #4?

Why not four random lunches? You see…being crazy does have its benefits.

How’s about some crazy, Pretty Woman-esque streetwalking gear after a lovely 75-minute vinyasa yoga class (with a totally awesome, snooze-inducing savasana at the end)?

Hawt (minus the obvious lack of thigh-high stripper boots).

To illustrate my insanity further and tread on the thin line of losing readership, here’s a word-for-word text message conversation between Mama Everythingtarian + I today…

Me: I think I am going crazy. My mind will not stop.

Mama E: Release embrace let go

Me: Thank you. I’m going to yoga right now.

Mama E: Terrific

Not the most exciting TM convo we’ve ever had, but it was exactly what I needed to hear.

I got home, made a sundried tomato + leek egg scramble, ate my weight in Newman’s spelt pretzels (seriously, zee best!), took a bath, savored some chocolate and jumped into my comfiest PJ’s.

Now, I am going to finish blogging, clean my kitchen, watch last night’s Glee and…

Release.

Embrace.

Let go.

Done, done and done.

Well, almost…

Hey!! I’m crazy too!!!!! :D

XO much love to ya, ALWAYS!

Lynn @ The Actors Diet April 21, 2010 at 9:17 pm

your eats look totally sane to me – especially pretzels in everything!!!

Kailey (SnackFace) April 21, 2010 at 9:22 pm

I love you so much. I love that you are on the crazy train this week, as am I. I cried twice today. Both times it was because things weren’t going my way. Both fits lasted long enough for me to realize how ridiculous they were. I am a child.

I love that your text convos with Mama E are dangerously similar to the ones I have with MamaJ.

I love that your four lunches all look deliciously snacky and yummy.

I don’t love that I have zero pretzels on hand.

Most of all, I LOVE how honest you are– it just shows how full of life and truly exquisite you are. I’m sensing we need another phone convo, pronto.

Run Sarah April 21, 2010 at 9:23 pm

I love all of your eats and the post-yoga outfit cracked me up! Craziness makes life more fun sometimes!

Liz April 21, 2010 at 9:24 pm

Matt April 21, 2010 at 9:27 pm

Mara @ What's For Dinner? April 21, 2010 at 9:28 pm

Hahahaha, this is so true – deep inside, we´re all CRAZY!
It´s just that most of us won´t admit it ;)
Delicious eats, as usual!
Cottage Cheese+Garbanzo Beans looks like an awesome combo… Gotta try this ASAP!
Those mysterious quiches caught my eye, too… Can´t wait for the recipe :D
Have a great night, girl!
Brazilian XOXO´s,
Gabriela

Jenna April 21, 2010 at 9:38 pm

Love your four parts to lunch!

katherine April 21, 2010 at 9:47 pm

We all go a little bit crazy sometimes, so believe that you’re aren’t alone! Good luck letting go though. It always feels good to get recentered.

katie April 21, 2010 at 9:49 pm

ahah hey we are ALL crazy girl! no worries there!!! totally hormones

Chelsea (Chelsea's Chew and Run Fun) April 21, 2010 at 10:13 pm

Oh Holly, I have those spazzy swells of over-analyzing every aspect of my life and the details of it too. Try to take comfort in the fact that we ultimately control 5% of what happens to us, the rest is unpredictable, and the only aspect of said 95% we can control is our reaction to it.

I drooled over every single one of your lunches. The combo of garbanzo beans and cottage cheese is genius!

I hope you have a lovely evening of releasing, letting go, and basking in “Glee.” Love ya!

Mama Pea April 21, 2010 at 11:13 pm

Call me crazy, but I kind of feel sorry for K. Go. She’s had a tough time. Now S. Pa. Don’t even get me started. How did you find an even crazier picture?!?

Love you baby…let go…

Mimi (Damn the Freshman 15) April 21, 2010 at 11:13 pm

Hey, only boring people are totally sane!

Madeline - Greens and Jeans April 21, 2010 at 11:44 pm

I had one of those crazy days today too, but Glee will always ease the pain. i’m currently self medicating with Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Erica April 22, 2010 at 12:15 am

hahaha we certainly do all have our moments! Love all of the mini lunches- sometimes a bit of everything just hits the spot right. Glad yoga and mama reeled everything back in for you.

Molly April 22, 2010 at 12:59 am

yo mama is so wise. have a fabulous REST of the week, and don’t think I’ve fallen off the Earth or suddenly disappeared over the N. Korean border (although getting close) over the next 3 weeks…taking some time off to travel! Can’t wait to return to zee blog. Love you Hol!!! As the wise Japanese say: どうぞお元気でで! (douzo ogenki de) –> Take care of yourself :D

Jessica @ How Sweet It Is April 22, 2010 at 5:34 am

I’m a complete nutjob. I relate.

Crunchy Granola Gal April 22, 2010 at 5:40 am

i embrace the crazy on a daily basis. much easier than trying to hide it. your mama seems lovely and very supportive! keep yer chin up, holly – things will quiet down a bit – or your mind will quiet down a bit, if you let it. :)

Lauren April 22, 2010 at 6:11 am

I love that you admit your craziness!!!!! :) You’re awesome girl!! :)

Katie @ Health for the Whole Self April 22, 2010 at 6:21 am

Haha I am definitely crazy!!! But not in the same way Sarah Palin is crazy, thank goodness!

Whitney @ Lettuce Love April 22, 2010 at 6:43 am

4 lunches! Awesome. I embrace my crazy. My mom has always said that the crazy friends are the fun ones :)

Jenny April 22, 2010 at 8:05 am

I’m just crazy for you mama.

sending you peaceful vibes today, precious lady. LUHHHHH YOU! xo

Jenna April 22, 2010 at 8:21 am

Amen, we are all crazy in our own ways. Or at least we should all be. What is the fun of being a normal person? Seriously! :)

Lauren (Health on the Run) April 22, 2010 at 8:33 am

Okay, that picture of SPalin is ridiculous!! Literally made me laugh out loud….

I definitely have those moments…days…weeks!! Mama Everythingtarian is very wise. Sometimes it’s so hard to let go, though I find that singing along to Glee at the top of your lungs usually helps.

Hope the rest of your week is slightly less crazy!!!

Amy Hansen April 22, 2010 at 9:04 am

Why are Tyra’s armpit lines circled in that pic?? She is nuts. Wonder what point she’s trying to drive home to all her young models with that one.
Your mom sounds awesome and very spot on with her advice :)

Ashley S April 22, 2010 at 9:45 am

I LOVE banana/pb sandwiches too. Have you ever tried heating the banana in the microwave then mashing it, THEN putting it on the pb toast? It melts the pb and make it soo delicious. I love adding honey on top too. Yum! My fav treat!

samantha April 22, 2010 at 9:47 am

i am feeling the crazy flow about 84.7% of the time. i usually find that a workout helps, and if that’s not the case, the bon iver station on pandora works WONDERS. as does lying on the floor. no i am not kidding.

chin up, girl – you’re golden.

Sami April 22, 2010 at 9:54 am

whoa, what a hottie in the window!!! :)

i think i need to start tuning into glee….from what i hear, everyone loves it!

mmmm. garbanzos + cc + ranch = heavenly. ever try it with some hot sauce mixed in? it’s like…buffalo chickpeas! :D janetha b. came up with it, i think?

ps- i’m sorry, but i can’t stand kate g. she always looks so pissed off! hasn’t she ever heard of SMILING?!

Jess April 22, 2010 at 10:15 am

Yoga is such a great stress/mind release. LOVE IT! Cute tm’s with your mommy.

xoxo

Susan April 22, 2010 at 10:36 am

Couldn’t agree more, all of us are crazy in our own ways!! My mom and I talk about it all the time, as every person in our family is batshit crazy. But it’s all in how we deal with it. Some people try to deny it and come off looking like a lunatic, some people embrace it, and deal with it. I like to think I’m in the latter :)

Miss Tyra though? There’s no hope for her.

Susan April 22, 2010 at 10:41 am

Girl, I’ve been feelin’ pretty cuckoo as of late too. I’m blaming it on the season. Spring fever of insanity, if you will.

And you can bet your street-walkin’ self I will be trying that eggy scramble combo once I can get my hands on some huevos. You know how I love my scrambos : )

Have a great Thursday love!

Adrien April 22, 2010 at 11:01 am

hahah Crazy. I can’t believe you didn’t show Oprah in there- or Paula Abdul… the list could go on- you do have a good selection.

I always get a whole lotta crazy going when new guys who I actually like come into my life- it’s brutal- and I’m fully aware of the crazy, but still, can not control it. They need to create a drug for it- we could, and make millions!

Adam April 22, 2010 at 11:07 am

I love how much your posts seem to have a certain sense of honesty and relativeness surrounding each and every one! You might think this is crazy, but i feel like i know exactly how you felt when you texted Mama Everythingtarian. This past week, there were moments when i literally had to hang on to a desk or a wall to get a grip on all that my mind was processing. Just to prove that you are not crazy, AT ALL, not only did i forget numerous things while walking out the door multiple times this week, but during my second exam i stood up after finishing and a dryer sheet fell out of my shirt…

Naomi(onefitfoodie) April 22, 2010 at 11:23 am

those mysterious quiches look SO good!!! I just made an egg frittata and it lokos like that but in loaf form!

hahah tyra is CRAZY! as is kate, but shes in a whole other category!

xo

Kacy April 22, 2010 at 11:30 am

It seems as though you and I are always on similar wavelengths in life. We go crazy at the same time, start dating new boys at the same time, go broke at the same time. There are differences though. A) You eat far more deliciously than I do. B) You have KILLER legs. C) You have the sharpest wit ever. It kills me. In a good way.

I hope our wavelength is a good one from this point forward. No more stress!

Angharad April 22, 2010 at 12:41 pm

Crazy is my life this week. I am so looking forward to a glass of wine and bath tonight. Holler for pretzels and yoga. X

Katie April 22, 2010 at 12:50 pm

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one that tries to embrace the crazy. I’ve given up hiding it, I just have to own it…

Also, I always have between 3-4 lunches. Makes for a good day, even if it is crazy. :-)

Paige (Running Around Normal) April 22, 2010 at 1:47 pm

So right. We ALL gots crazy in it. Mine is reacting WAY too quickly – to either positive or negative situations. Before stepping away for a minute, and then absorbing it. Need to learn to do that better:)

Emily (A Nutritionist Eats) April 22, 2010 at 2:59 pm

I swear just the other day I turned to BF and said, “I am literally crazy.” It happens :)

RunToTheFinish April 22, 2010 at 3:34 pm

my meals often feel very random, so it’s good to know I”m not alone!

runnerforever April 22, 2010 at 3:36 pm

Don’t worry, I am crazy too. I totally over thing and sweat the little things way too much!

Faith April 22, 2010 at 5:47 pm

Very good advice…listen to Mama Everythingtarian! ;) 4 random lunches sound pretty fantastic — and the mini quiche looks amazing! Love that Sarah P pic in there!

Jocelyn @ Peace.Love.Nutrition April 22, 2010 at 6:42 pm

The world would be so boring if we weren’t all crazy : )

amanda April 22, 2010 at 8:50 pm

sigh, tyra drives me crazy. her and her damn smizing.

jperonto April 22, 2010 at 11:11 pm

OMG. Speaking of crazy. Read the e-mail I sent you.

Sarah (Running To Slow Things Down) April 23, 2010 at 6:20 am

Nothing wrong with a little bit of crazy now and then. We all need it.

Oh, and yoga is always so perfect for days like that. :D
