in life

It’s good for you, I promise.

Lots of vegetables. Some fruit. Healthy fats, like avocados or olive oil. Whole grains. Protein. Perhaps some dairy if your stomach feels up to it.

I recommend this cheese.

Or a Dairy Queen blizzard.

Your choice.

And when sometimes tells you, “Gosh, you eat way too much food,” I would recommend replying with, “Thank you oh so very much. I am pretty sure I was a 300-pound, mullet-sporting truck driver in a former life,” giving them a big, obnoxious smile and walking away.

Yes, truck drivers probably don’t eat warm quinoa salads, roasted brussel sprouts and a homemade banana bran muffin for lunch.

But you get the point.

The winner of the Tropical Traditions coconut peanut butter giveaway is comment #38 from Yin, who said, “I like a lot of food but I wish I liked cotton candy! It always looks so good but every time I eat it, I regret it right away.”

Send me an e-mail at with your mailing address, and we’ll get you a free jar of coconut PB!

I agree: Eating is good. Do I have to decide between cheese and a Blizzard? I want both. :)

Low April 4, 2011 at 9:37 pm

Oh agreed, it’s a damn accomplishment to be able to house some food whether it be 21 clementines (this happened recently) or ice cream for all three meals of the day (also happened recently). When someone tells me I eat to much, I just smile :)

Food = my life force.

Frances April 4, 2011 at 9:53 pm

Did someone criticize you for what you eat? I hate, hate, hate when people comment on what I’m eating, or how much of it I’m taking in. It’s stressful and triggering…plus it’s just plain rude!

Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table April 4, 2011 at 10:59 pm

Haha! I’m pretty sure my inner trucker just belched. (And possibly scratched… for good measure.)

Crystal April 4, 2011 at 11:07 pm

Hell yes! I’m going to add frozen yogurt to your suggestions. In a waffle cone, of course.

Emma (Namaste Everyday) April 4, 2011 at 11:35 pm

I’m proud that I can pound down a lot of grub!

Sarah (Running To Slow Things Down) April 5, 2011 at 5:40 am

Amen! :D

Erica April 5, 2011 at 6:10 am

Tell me someone really said that to you? Ridiculous if so! Congrats to the winner winner

Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine April 5, 2011 at 6:16 am

Haha I get that all the time. My friends and family are always like, “how are you not fat?” And I just tell them that I’m a genius because I actually eat as much as my metabolism can handle. Mwahaha.

I love this post! I usually get looks of shock when I get hungry after having eaten not too long ago. I bring 2 snacks along with breakfast and lunch in my lunch bag, while most of my coworkers only bring lunch and wonder why they’re hungry all the time. So, when I grab for a piece of my snacks from my lunch bag every hour or two, my coworkers will perk up and sometimes be like, “…didn’t you just eat breakfast at 7?” and I’ll say, “Yeah… and it’s 9:00 now and I’m hungry!”

Elizabeth@The Sweet Life April 5, 2011 at 7:13 am

Hilarious-love it.

Abby April 5, 2011 at 7:13 am

“Wow, you eat a lot.”
“Wow, you talk a lot.”
It usually shuts them up.

Mackenzie @ Whatever, Gatsby April 5, 2011 at 7:29 am

thank you for this, dear. i always get the whole “you eat so much” from who other than large dudes at my work?! when i’m eating a pear? the silliness.

my offer still stands. if i ever make it to wisconsin, or you end up anywhere on the east coast (i find you, girl.) let’s go somewhere (or multiple places) and eat “a lot.”

love love to you, ladyfriend!

Lauren April 5, 2011 at 7:42 am

I hate people who comment on others’ eating habits. so rude and uncalled for. killing it with kindness is the way to go :)

chloe@ 321delish April 5, 2011 at 9:27 am

I have a big wooden sign in my kitchen with three bit letters in bright colors on it. It says:

love it. have a great day!

Megan (Braise the Roof) April 5, 2011 at 10:50 am

I saw a news segment on GMA this morning proving that some people are actually addicted to food. So now there’s scientific proof that we can’t help ourselves for having the appetite of a large, large man. :)

chelsey @ clean eating chelsey April 5, 2011 at 11:53 am

haha – I always get slightly embarassed when people tell me how much I eat, but then I proudly tell them how if you fuel yourself with the RIGHT foods, you can eat so so much.

Tina @ Faith Fitness Fun April 5, 2011 at 1:28 pm

I am all about this post. And all about food. And all about eating as much as possible. More food = more nutrition for the body, right? I know how I’m going to get my calcium. Why, hello DQ!

sisters running the kitchen April 5, 2011 at 1:36 pm

Tamar April 5, 2011 at 8:22 pm

Beautiful picture! One of the best restaurants I know (a mexican joint named Jose Tejas, if you’re ever in the central NJ area) has a giant tacky sign that says “EAT” towering above the highway. I love DQ blizzards!
