eggs (they’re what’s for dinner)

Some things are simply meant to be together.

Chocolate + peanut butter.

Diet Coke + pretzels.

{The commoner formerly known as} Kate Middleton’s wedding dress + my closet.

Then, there are things which I am convinced in my crazy Everythingtarian brain were put on this most complex Earth to be shared. With everything. With everybody. With every food group.

Like eggs.

Eggs go with everything.

My Mighty Maple peanut butter jar, Diet Coke stash and closet do not.

In fact, I firmly believe eggs are truly one of the most accepting, progressive-thinking foods out there. They refuse to discriminate against a dish based on whether it’s sweet or savory; the eggs are overeasy or scrambled; or if it’s served atop a slice of burnt toast or baked in a muffin. Eggs simply accept the foodie challenge put before them and do everything in their protein-packed power to make every dish taste delicious.

We could learn a lot from eggs.

Love all. Be flexible. Taste delicious.

I dig.

Whether layered atop hearty slices of sprouted Ezekiel bread + avocado…

…or doused with nutritional yeast and served with fresh pineapple + a steamed sweet potato (with Earth Balance + cinnamon)…

…just eat the whole dayum egg.

White AND yolk.

Preferably with a kombucha.

Because let’s be real, the yolk is where it’s at. Choline, protein + B vitamins. Farm fresh eggs are best. Free-range is cool. Organic never hurts.


They’re what’s for dinner in my house (five out of seven days of the week, that is).

I love eggs, hard, soft, runny, firm, cold, hot, they are amazing. I just got my first nooch in the mail today from iherb, and I may have to try the nooch on eggs thing.

Pretty sure my life wouldn’t be complete without eggs. Definitely eat them almost every day. Mmmm so good.
I might beg to differ on peanut butter going with everything. because i might eat it with everything. but still, eggs rock.

I am totally with you. I adore eggs! Fried, scrambled, poached, hard boiled. Plain, fritattas, omelets, salads, sandwiches, quiches, pasta. Gooey over-medium on toast. Bring on the eggs. Preferably with cheese.

And I wonder why my cholesterol is high…

Thank God for eggs! I hate when people ONLY ever eat the egg whites. Lets face it, egg whites are good, but why would you throw out the yolk? Just as good nutritionally!

And I’m glad you’re spreading some yolk lovin’, because they are *so* healthy (helping to fight against blindness too!) and *so* tasty. I love them and can’t believe I ever used to throw them out, while just eating the white. What a shame!

Amen. I just commented on heab’s post earlier that yes, cherry picking out the white isnt doing your body any favors…the yolks have great properties!

I havent had eggs in years but am thinking about starting up with them again soon! I miss runny yolks!

LOVE eggs. Breakfast, lunch or dinner. Scrambled is my go to right now….but I will be returning to my beloved over easy after pregnancy. And I believe they require some ketchup :)

Dollface- eggs are whats for breakfast er day for me. I also was going to comment about your 30 day challenge! I am doing one with Whole Foods for 28 days starting next week and I get to blog about it! It is going to be very hard, but I think we can do this whole vegan thing togeths!

My tastebuds are on the fence about eggs. Sometimes, they sound fabulous, sometimes they make me gag. I don’t know what it is. But when they’re good…they’re gooooooood.

Hate the smell, love the taste, especially smothered in hot sauce. Eat the yolks as long as I’m not planning on eating coconut ice cream on the same day. :) I’m lucky that my chicken farmer aunt provides me with as many free-range, organic eggs as I can fit in my fridge every time I visit.

Love ’em. Eat them every day, at any time of the day. My current fave: 2 egg whites, 1C chopped spinach, 1C black beans, 1 chicken breast (pre-grilled, and cubed). Saute the spinach (feel free to add a little garlic), add-in the chicken and beans, then add the egg whites. Top with a little hot salsa or hot pico de gallo and enjoy. Makes a great breakie or a delightful dinner.

I love eggs! Hard-boiled eggs can be sprinkled on so many salads and they are a great way to add protein to anything!
I went a month of eggs EVERY MORNING (; Now I eat them less often, but they are just as tasty.

I love eggs too, but I’m picky about them! I won’t eat a sunny side up because the white, when not cooked all the way, reminds me of snot. Too much? Eesh. :)

I’m not a fan of eggs, but every once in a while they’ll appeal to me. Like in class this morning, when the guy next to me was eating a fresh breakfast bagel sandwich with a drippy fried egg…I was also starving, but mmmm, it looked good then!

Love ’em…but mostly just the egg whites (I know, I know, don’t hate!). Unfortunately, my body is not Everythingtarian-friendly, and the yolks tend to hurt my belly. Still, I think I’ve perfected the art (yes, it is an ART) of making an egg white omelette with nutritional yeast, salsa, and basil. Let’s hear it for the egg!

It *must* be springtime—everybody’s got eggs on the brain (myself included). There’s just nothing like a warm, runny yolk on top of a slice of freshly baked bread or broken over the first asparagus on a beautiful day. Sigh…

I’m having a similar love affair with eggs: in stir fries, on sandwiches, in salads, over veggies. Such a great one-two protein-taste punch! Not to mention cheap, for us poor folk :-D

LOVE eggs…and the yolks are the best part! I rarely go a day without having an egg! So quick and easy! They have saved many a hungry tummy when dinnertime rolled around and I was without a plan!

I am obsessed with eggs! For some reason here in New Zealand they have the best. Though I am vegan, I could never give up eggs, though I may stay to farm-fresh ones, you know the nice kind. But today I have had them in every meal! French toast for breakfast, hardboiled for lunch, and a frittata for dinner :)

I love eggs. Especially with avocado or a brown rice tortilla.
But I’m pregnant right now, so sometimes, eggs just don’t sound good at all. I don’t think that particular aversion will last.:-)

I love them!!! I put eggs on top of everything and I generally poach them. A poached egg on top of pasta is so frickin’ good, it should be a sin.

What’s with the nutritional yeast? I have been meaning to ask you this question for a while. Why is it good for you? Does is taste like anything? Please share your wisdom on nutritional yeast :)

I love eggs! I eat them pretty much every day. It’s the only thing that will keep me going in the morning. I normally have an egg over hard (is that what they call it???) on a piece of California Style Complete Protein toast with butter. It is totally satisfying. I’ve been known to whip up an egg or two for dinner as well!
Crazy thing is my cousin HATES eggs! How can you hate eggs! She won’t even eat custard because it’s too “eggy” to her! Whatever!

Oh I love this post, because I LOVE eggs. I also eat them probably 5 out of 7 nights a week for dinner. Typically, runny-yoked and over a dr. praeger spinach pancake.

Biggest pet peeve: When I tell people how much I love eggs and they immediately tell me how bad the yolk is, cholesterol etc etc blah blah.
