Five Thing Friday

by Holly on October 29, 2010

in breakfast,fun finds,photography,rambling

If you must know, I am currently sitting at home by myself on a Friday night blasting my Mariah Carey wannabe lungs out to “On My Own” from the Tony award-winning play Les Miserables and cooking a mean pot of red curry carrot soup.

Trust me, it’s what all the cool kids are doing.

But that’s not one of my five things. Technically, I probably should have entitled this post “Six Thing Friday,” but the alliteration is nowhere near as fun, and I LOVE alliteration.

So let’s hop to it, shall we?

First things first, did you know today is National Oatmeal Day? I can’t even begin to express my undying love for this fiber-packed, whole grain wonder. Naturally, I had to celebrate this holiday in true Everythingtarian style.

Can you say peanut butter…

…chocolate…

…oatmeal?

It was blasphemously delicious.

Second things second, do you want a PDF copy of the Financial Planning for Women information I talked about on Wednesday’s post? If so, leave me a comment on this post with your e-mail or shoot me an e-mail, and I will send a copy this weekend to whomever wants one.

Word to saving those dolla dolla bills peeps.

Third things third, guess who spent almost $150 on camera accessories this week? Yep, that would be ME! Just as we ladies (and gents) like to, “Look good, feel good” in our daily lives, so does my camera.

First, I purchased a padded camera bag that will perfectly fit Mr. Rebel…

I purchased it on Etsy from Porteen Gear, and I LOVE it.

Best of all? It literally shipped out the next day. Love that.

The whimsy in me took one look at this yellow, ruffled camera strap and HAD to have it…

Yes, this purchase was both a need AND a want.

The best kind.

Another Etsy purchase, I got this from Eclectic Whatnot.

Seriously, who can resist a yellow ruffle?

Not I.

Fourth things fourth, I am throwing my very first dinner party at my apartment tomorrow! I can’t give too many details, because part of it is a surprise for someone special who may or may not read the blog. However, I can say that the pot of red curry carrot soup is for the party, and it is going to be off the chain.

Fo’ real.

Apparently, I can’t count after all, because that’s only four things, and shockingly, I’ve run out of things to say. It doesn’t happen often, so you should enjoy it while you can.

So…I take it back.

Fifth things fifth, I am currently sitting at home by myself on a Friday night blasting my Mariah Carey wannabe lungs out to “On My Own” from the Tony award-winning play Les Miserables and cooking a mean pot of red curry carrot soup.

What are YOU doing this weekend? Sharing is caring!

I love being a homebody….I can’t help it :) We stayed in tonight and watched old episodes of glee. It was fantastic. The camera bag is super cute and I can’t wait to hear more about the dinner party!!

Elliott October 29, 2010 at 10:58 pm

My 5 things…
1.There is a reason Les Miserables is one of the top 5 longest running shows!
2.Mariah Carey’s Christmas album is the best. I am already tempted to bust it out! Oh, and she’s preggo, which I think is weird…
3.I’m making that oatmeal. Tomorrow
4.Yes, all the cool kids are home on Friday nights ;)
5.I’m glad you are enjoying you new toy!

In other news… I’m sitting at home watching the Chopped Halloween episode!

elise October 29, 2010 at 11:54 pm

is it the glee version? bc i may or may not have done that myself in the past week.

kyle and i are currently enjoying our friday night in…with MJs “this is it” – netflix through the wii is way better than on demand.

i missed national oatmeal day! woops!

Definitely my favorite song from Les Mis; heartbreaking, isn’t it? We sang a medley of it in high school chorus, and while I had a solo for “Bring Him Home,” my other friend (who was a biiiiitch but had a really innocent, evocative voice) sang the solo for “On My Own” and I still imagine her singing it to this day. I love musicals! Who I am I kidding? I just love music.

Matt October 30, 2010 at 6:57 am

I seriously made the exact breakfast yesterday! Banana oatmeal with coconut and chocolate peanut butter. Mmmm…

I totally did a post last night about the perfect friday night = staying at home, in your sweats. :)

This weekend I think I am going to spend some time in the kitchen, go to a football game today, and tomorrow we are going to a family party!

Mary @ Salads and Shakespeare October 30, 2010 at 8:35 am

Hi Holly! Would you send me a PDF from the women’s financial stuff (at mpdemery@gmail.com)? I’m still in college, but you’re never too young, right?

Have you read “Mrs. Dalloway?” She throws a dinner party to be remembered. Good luck with yours!

Heather (Perspective Is Everything) October 30, 2010 at 8:55 am

So glad to see you didn’t blow away in the category 3 hurricane force winds y’all had this past week! craziness @@
i hope your dinner party goes well and you’re able to enjoy yourself. i always get so anxious when i’m the host of anything cuz i’m trying to make sure everyone else is having a good time.
lookin’ forward to those pics :)
this weekend so far will be pretty chill. maybe go exploring my new seattle neighborhood.
i have no car, so all these CRAZY STEEP hills are really conducive to getting a good workout in!

Nelly@CrazySexyFit October 30, 2010 at 9:06 am

That camera strap is seriously amazing. Once I get me an actual camera instead of just using my cellphone all the time, I will definitely be going to that shop.

Have a good dinner party! :)

Eve October 30, 2010 at 10:58 am

Could I have a copy of the women’s financial planning PDF?

My email is taffool42[at]yahoo[dot]com

Thank you!

Also, that dinner party menu sounds mighty tasty.

Dana @ my little celebration October 30, 2010 at 11:13 am

Good luck on your dinner party! I’m sure it’s going to be a blast. I look forward to pictures on your next post.

Last night I went to a Sufjan Stevens concert and it was INCREDIBLE. And tonight I’m going to a Halloween party at a friend’s house with my hubby. I think we’re going to dress up like the double rainbow from you tube. We’ll see how that works out though.

Oh, and I will probably be eating lots of candy since I have a good excuse to.

Always enjoy your blog,
Dana

Katie October 30, 2010 at 11:56 am

I’d love a copy of that financial thingie…since some day in the near future I’ll finally be out of school and getting a real job. Yikes…

That camera strap might be the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Your pohotos are making me want a new camera. I don’t know how to take photos very well though. One more thing to learn about. Maybe you can go to a seminar on that and offer your readers the pdf? :D

Denice October 30, 2010 at 12:46 pm

I have recently just found your blog. I would love to have a copy of the info, I have just started my month of money tracking…I am afraid of what I will find out. Good luck with the dinner party! Denice.Anderson@yahoo.com

Lynn @ The Actors Diet October 30, 2010 at 2:30 pm
