Flow, Disrupted

I’ve started and restarted writing this post three times.

It turns out I have a lot on my Everythingtarian mind and want nothing more than to spell out every little feeling in a cacophony of letters and words on this lil’ blog of mine. I blame my third appointment with M.T. today for making me so contemplative.

More on that later.

However, sometimes the words just don’t flow.

Like today.

Today, the words want to stay hibernating in their comfortable three-bedroom condos in Florida instead of visiting me in brisk, 63-degree Wisconsin. I can’t say I blame them. Although, I would offer them free Wisconsin Cheese if they did make an appearance here, which should clearly be reason enough to come.

Instead of trying to force them to come hither, I am just going to let them be.

In place of my usual attempts at introspective yet humorous blog posting, I am just going to start by telling you I had sunflower seed butter, banana + cinnamon on toasted Ezekiel bread for breakfast.

It hit the spot, per usual.

I’m sorry peeps, but if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

After lots of catching up on office things after being gone for more than a week, I snacked on Quaker Cinnamon Oatmeal Squares throughout the day to keep me going…

I find if I have a lil’ something to munch on at work, I am a much more productive employee.

The boss lady can thank me later for that one.

Alright D. Diddy?

For lunch, I wrangled up some carrots + celery and devoured Trader Joe’s Three Layer Hummus to my inner hippie heart’s content…

For dessert, I snacked on a new-to-me TJ’s Fiberful bar, which was a blend of both fruits AND veggies…

It just so happens there is a 1/2 serving of both fruits AND veggies in that baby. Most importantly, it doesn’t actually taste like there is veggies in there.

After my therapy appointment + work, I headed off for a much-needed 60-minute yoga class, where I successfully dozed off in savasana and would probably have kept sleeping if it was not for the fact my friend Curtis was in the class.

For dinner, roughage in the form of a ginormous junk salad was on the menu…

2 cups baby spinach
1/2 cucumber, sliced
1/2 tomato, diced
1 TJ’s Veggie Masala Burger
1/3 cup chickpeas
sprinkle of nooch
sprinkle of sunflower seeds
drizzle of lemon basil pesto dressing

Now, I am sitting here trying to find my writing flow.

I am hoping a Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookie will help that cause.

Can’t hurt, right?

Don’t worry about the words, chica! You are always a pleasure to read about and i’m sure your readers don’t mind a few posts with a little more food and a little less wit! Just bring us that HILARIOUSITY when it’s ready ;)

mmmm totally picking up that three layer hummus next time I’m near a TJs. Sounds like a pretty good day. Letting out the emotions & then going to yoga? Fantastic. And that is one beautiful dinner. I bet the crunch of the sunflower seeds was perfect. Hope you have a jammin week

Katie September 13, 2010 at 8:17 pm

I want you to come make me a big junk salad for lunch tomorrow. And I’m a much happier teacher if I have something to snack on throughout the day, too. My kid’s tell me “You’re always eating” and I tell them “You don’t want to meet Hungry/Grumpy Mrs. Unger”

Heather (Perspective Is Everything) September 13, 2010 at 8:18 pm

Salad!!! Holy yum :)
I love Florence and the Machine :)
She’s like a modern day Grace Jones/Joni Mitchell/Janis Joplin hybrid :)

Lauren September 13, 2010 at 8:26 pm

I hate when that happens. I feel that there are some days when I conjure so many things that I want to say on my blog, and when it comes down to write, the words just aren’t there. I guess some things are meant to be left unsaid and just simply felt. :)

Jenny September 13, 2010 at 8:42 pm

Excuse me while I stop everything I’m doing to check out these songs you’ve suggested! I’m a sucker for download recommendations.

Hope you had a happy Monday evening :)

Your junk salad looks amazing! Really truly.. I kind of love a salad with just a little of everything from the kitchen cupboards on it. And why have I never seen the triple layer hummus?! That looks divine.

K September 13, 2010 at 9:03 pm

I know all is right with the world when I can fall asleep in savasana. Even if you have a thousand different thoughts going on… somewhere in there you are at peace. Your body tells you so :)

Kristie September 13, 2010 at 9:41 pm

If I come there can I get free cheese? I’ll bring some words with me! They might not be as good as your Florida nesting ones but who knows, you might make something really super out of them!

You’re making me want to buy Oatmeal Squares again really badly. Except I can’t have them here because they’re gone in a matter of a few days. It’s bad news! But they’re just. so. good.

Cookies help everything. And if they include pb, chocolate AND oatmeal? Well heck they could just solve all of life’s problems right on the spot.

Honey, I’m right there with ya. My blog is going down in flames because I got nothin’.

I mean, I got plenty, I just can’t make sense out of any of it. Boo on that.

Ok just caught up on the MT news. I spent tons of disposable income in my early and mid 20s on my therapist. I viewed my weekly chat session as a confidential outlet for anything that was on my mind, sparing friends, (or in your case your mama…haha laughed in the post you linked) or Scott my various bitches, vents, and whatever’s that were going on. Not that anything all that serious was going on, but I had the time and the money and viewed my therapist as an amazing gift, much like I would view a one hour back massage therapist to be an amazing gift now :)

fiberful, noted on the no veggies, nice for kids :) i will try those!

nooch, just posted again today bout nooch and deals on it. I love the stuff!!

xoxo

Some days I feel like I rewrite the same sentence 10 times and other days the words just flow like water. Luckily, oatmeal squares are ALWAYS delicious no matter if the words are there or not

Ijeoma (HerHonestLife) September 14, 2010 at 12:34 am

Oh I had completely forgotten how much I love Quaker Oatmeal Squares! I used to snack on them constantly in high school. Is it just me, or are they a billion times better without milk?

Thanks for the reminder of an old love! I’ll definitely have to pick some up next time I’m at the store!

Jessica @ How Sweet It Is September 14, 2010 at 5:19 am

Ooooh I really want to try those Fiberfuls. I need all the veggies I can get.

Heather (Perspective Is Everything) September 14, 2010 at 5:50 am

Ps- meant to say Florence is like a Grace SLICK (not Grace Jones) Joni Mitchell/Janis Joplin hybrid :)

Tyler September 14, 2010 at 6:59 am

That salad looks fabulous! And thanks for the song recommendations…my i pod music is getting really stale right now. Need new songs badly!

Sami September 14, 2010 at 8:45 am

brandi September 14, 2010 at 8:50 am

Your flow will return, you’re an amazing writer. Your thoughts are just collecting themselves, but will return shortly.

Angharad September 14, 2010 at 11:53 am

Florence and the Machine is my fave. Completely got me through running last winter! I just emailed you back. I heart you. And I haven’t had banana/pb toast in forever. Thank you for reminding me to rectify that.

Jenna September 14, 2010 at 12:48 pm

Girl, that hummus is like crack. SO GOOD!

Thanks for the song recommendations, I’m always trying to find new artists.

Justine September 14, 2010 at 1:47 pm

What all is in the 3 layer hummus? (We don’t have a Trader Joe’s!)
It sounds fabulous. Hummus and anything is amazing, in my humble opinion….
:)

emily (a nutritionist eats) September 14, 2010 at 2:24 pm

I hate it when the words don’t flow! Ugh. They’ll come back, I’m sure of it. xo

Megan (Braise the Roof) September 14, 2010 at 3:55 pm

I think we’ve all been there- at least there are always new TJ’s finds to keep us inspired, right? :)
