The Balancing Act
I am so excited to have the opportunity to guest post for Holly! She is an amazing blogger and a great inspiration!
I wanted to share with you my thoughts on “balance.” I think we can all agree that Holly is a super roll model in living a life of balance. A little bit of this, a little bit of that, all pulled together with some quality time on the mat.
But how do we find our own, personal balance? Well, if you’re looking for an answer to that question here, you’re not going to find it. Finding balance is a daily journey and only YOU can discover what works best for your body.
Running? Yoga? Walking? Don’t get down on yourself because your favorite blogger logged 15 miles before your feet even hit the ground for the day. Her balance is 15, yours could be 1 and that’s fabulous – that’s YOU!
Vegetarian? Paleo? Vegan? Don’t fall into the media trap of what is good and bad for you – trust me, it changes everyday. It might take a little trial and error but eventually you’ll figure out what foods make YOU feel your best. And like Holly, there’s no need to put a label on it. Sure my diet is mainly plant-based but I’m not going to turn down the occasional chicken taco – vegetarian with a side of white meat/fish?
Between diet and exercise it seem as though the all-time balance breaker is dessert. Dessert shouldn’t be the enemy, dessert was meant to be enjoyed! YOU should finish dessert with a smile on your face and a piece of chocolate left on your chin. Food on your face? Yes, its all a part of balance. :)
So back to the question: Where do we find our personal balance? Where its not is in the pages of health magazines or the exercise log of your favorite blogger. It’s when YOU choose to walk around the block one more time or run that extra mile because you’ve been a bit of a couch potato lately; its when YOU choose to indulge in or refrain from that 2nd piece of cake based on what your body is telling you; its in the choices YOU make for yourself each and every day.
Discover who YOU are and what makes YOU happy – then, the balance will come naturally.
