H & M

There are some people in this world in this world you just click with.

Meet Madeline.

When I first read her blog Greens + Jeans, I knew we were destined to be friends.

The click factor was there.

We share a mutual love for clothes, running, The Format, traveling (especially to Argentina), not being able to sit still and of course – blogging.

Naturally, when I found out she was coming to Madison for her cousin’s wedding, I knew our agenda had to include two things: eating and shopping.

When we finally met face-to-face, all my original thoughts about Miss Greens + Jeans were validated. She is just as sweet, fun, energetic and fabulous as she seems on her blog. And double bonus – I got to meet Mama Jeans AND Grandma Jeans. She clearly comes from a line of good genes.

No pun intended.

First stop, a true Wisconsin original…The Old Fashioned!

This restaurant truly screams, “Hey look at me! I’m from Wiss-cahn-sinnn!” but with a chic touch. And when you eat here amongst the locals, you MUST order an appetizer of ooey goeey Wisconsin beer-battered cheese curds

With a side of smoked Spanish paprika dipping sauce, these are pillows of heaven.

I know Madeline agrees.

Seeming as we do write healthy living blogs, we thought it only appropriate to include some greenery in our Wisconsin-themed dinner…

I chose #19: “Spinach and Sarvecchio Cheese with shaved red onion, sunflower seeds, croutons, deviled egg and hot bacon dressing.”

Well, don’t mind if I do…

Did I mention I had two Spotted Cow beers? Because I did.  And they may have made me slightly buzzed + more chatty than usual (if that’s even possible).

And just sayin’, they may have tasted wayyyy too good going down.

Eating? Check.

Shopping? Did I mention we also both share a deep, everlasting love for Anthropologie?

Because we do.

Madeline said it perfectly, “It physically hurts the clothes there are so cute.”

Amen sister.

This salsa outfit is my jam. When I get paid next week for a freelance writing project, I fully intend on going back for this skirt + tank, hopping on the first flight to Buenos Aires and salsaing my heart away in the back streets of Argentina’s infamous capital city.

Seriously though, how cute is she?

Way cute.

The fashion show did not stop there…

We’ve got Betty Draper and some crazy lady making an appearance.

My 2nd favorite ‘fit of the evening…

Oh you Moulinette Soeurs silk green printed shirt dress of love, why must you be out of my budget?

Let me rephrase, why must I be on a budget in the first place?

::sulks again::

Damn budgets.

::pulls self together in the name of positivity::

Stay tuned for part two of H & M’s adventures as we tackle a 10-mile run + the Dane County Farmer’s Market tomorrow morning!

It shall be good – clicking, eating and shopping included.

Ahhh I love Anthro so much and after being in Philly last weekend, where the headquarters and biggest store ever is, I am even more obsessed. That green printed dress looks amazing, ugh to budgets! Sounds like a blast so far!

Nicole @ Geek Turned Athlete May 22, 2010 at 2:41 am

Love, love, love Anthro! So jealous! But I will be in the states soon enough! I’m glad you got to hang out with such a fun person and recharge!

I totally thought about you this weekend when I was in Rome, and we got stuck there another night than planned. We stayed in a hostel. I don’t know why you came to my head, but you did. Have you ever stayed in a hostel?

Erica May 22, 2010 at 6:34 am

awwwwwwww! Such a fun meet up. Makes me want to come out and visit you right this instance. Love the greens portion of your meal- a unique salad for sure! All of the clothes are SO cute. They have the best dresses. I drool over them online all the time. Enjoy the market and the rest of your weekend <3

Hey Holly. :)

I’ve been reading your blog for a while now, and just have not commented yet. Shame, shame. I know. :(
But, this post surprised me…I never knew that you have a love for Argentina! I am with you, sister! In fact, I will be traveling there this June for 5 weeks. It will be my second trip there and I am more than excited! I will be staying with my sister, Mili (aka: the girls that I hosted this past September). Our school does an exchange with a small school in Venado Tuerto (a city about 4 hours from BA). Two summers ago, after their visit to my town, I went to Argentina for a month and stayed with a family, went to school, etc. Then, this year I hosted Mili and now I will be returning in June to live with her in BA while she is in college.

Argentina is such a beautiful country. I cannot wait to be there. Mili told me that we are going to be visiting some great places, like La Boca. I learned some Tango while I was there two years ago – it was tough, but so much fun! OH, and not to mention, the food in Argentina is fantastic too! I was worried about the food and what I was going to eat while there this summer when I was vegan, but now I consume dairy, eggs, and fish as well, so I shouldn’t have a problem!

How did you get interested in Argentina? Tell me your story. :)

Peace always,

Kristie May 22, 2010 at 7:17 am

Tick tock, you’re not a clock you’re a time bomb baby a time bomb baby ;).

Have we ever talked about Argentina? Please, tell me we’ve talked about Argentina. And now this post just makes me that much more excited to meet Madeline!

Jenna May 22, 2010 at 7:26 am

What a fun blogger meet up :)

Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) May 22, 2010 at 7:27 am

Oh Anthropologie…you summed it up perfectly. If I could blow my budget on a clothing store, I do believe that would be on my list of places to go. ;)

You girlies look like you’re having the most positively perfect time! Love it! :D

Katie May 22, 2010 at 7:51 am

Haha, I LOVE her description of Anthro…so cute it hurts. Perfect. I feel the same way about William Sonoma kitchenware and dishes.

You are both so dang adorable, and I’m glad you had such a happy day. Enjoy your weekend, love!

Jessica @ How Sweet It Is May 22, 2010 at 8:33 am

I’m jealous of your blogger meet up! You both are darling!

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) May 22, 2010 at 12:36 pm

First the MAdeline meetup. I love her and she has been my Rock! in Phoenix. AMazing human and friend. Love her!! So glad you two could meetup!

The food looks great and CHEESE CURDS being a MN girl, that’s a staple of my childhood. Staple. They even sell them at the Mall of America at the MN State Fair “restaurant” so all year you can partake in fried cheese. God, it’s the simple things.

The Anthro trip. What a fun time!

Next time I need to be with you two on your adventures!

Evan Thomas May 22, 2010 at 12:40 pm

Madeline - Greens and Jeans May 22, 2010 at 4:38 pm

Time to start coordinating my room. We can eat cheese curds and scones every day and have fashion shows. Okay? Done deal.

runnerforever May 22, 2010 at 7:10 pm

I love those dresses. If only anthropologie was not so dang expensive! Have a great 10 miler!

Low May 22, 2010 at 8:05 pm

I’ve never been to an Anthropologie. Or eaten a cheese curd. Clearly I have not lived!! The salsa outfit was absolutely fabulous.

Yay for H & M adventures! Can’t wait for part 2.

Ilana May 22, 2010 at 11:36 pm

This is a meetup I want to be at! Cheese+Anthro? sounds like a winning formula to me!!

Mimi (Damn the Freshman 15) May 23, 2010 at 12:38 am

Glad you had a fun outing! I nearly died of laughter–I tried on that exact same Anthropologie skirt. Looove that store. Though I only buy something when my mom’s with me. She’ll be honest if it looks good or not, and I’m not shelling out my mortage on something that’s less than ravishing.

Alison May 23, 2010 at 8:45 am

what a fun visit!! I recently ate at the old fashioned for the first time – once for lunch and a few days later for dinner :D Yum! FYI their wisconsin beer soup is good. But the cheese curds were fantastic! Close to state-fair-mouse-house good! MMMMM

Katie May 23, 2010 at 9:10 am

You guys are so cute! I love when you just click with someone. And I totally hear you on Anthro. Everything in there is so perfect… my mom actually described it as being “disgustingly cute.”

Lynn @ The Actors Diet May 23, 2010 at 1:11 pm

i love seeing you and madeline together! i might have to make a special trip out to visit you ladies because it looks like too much fun.

Whit May 24, 2010 at 7:23 am

that salsa outfit = perfection. you must buy. if I were not a broke a$$ b! I would fund that venture.

Dawn (HealthySDLiving) May 24, 2010 at 11:32 am

Oh my goodness…LOVE it! You girls are too cute and I am obsessed with Anthro–just not the prices! :(

Allison May 26, 2010 at 11:49 am

OMG The Format!! I <3 The Format. I heard about them way back in my days at St. Thomas (weird, I know) and have gone back to them time and time again. Clearly, I'm way late in reading/commenting on this, life has gotten in the way of my blog reading (life has got some nerve, I tell you). Anyways, yay for The Format!
