I Don’t Mess Around

by Holly on November 5, 2009

in dinner,eating out,lunch

Not this week at least. You give a girl a midnight bedtime FOUR days in a row, and things are bound to get ugly.

Breakfast was a PB+B quesadilla + Haralson apple eaten at 6:15am this morning while writing this morning’s blog post (from yesterday’s eats) and finishing up some freelance work.  That’s what happens when you are exhausted and pass out in your bed due to one too many glasses of vino antioxidants.

To redeem myself, I decided I wasn’t going to mess around with lunch.  Sunprint Cafe salad bar it was!

The mix contained:

  • spinach
  • beets
  • raisins
  • red onion
  • chickpeas
  • 1 hard-boiled egg
  • broccoli salad
  • pico de gallo
  • cucumber
  • carrots
  • green peppers
  • sunflower seeds
  • cucumber yogurt dressing

Yeah that’s right.  Don’t mess with me and my junk salads.

And DON’T mess with my carbs: all hail the Sun Bun!

That would be peppers, jack cheese, onion and spices in one heavenly hunk of deliciousness.  I only wish it had been as big in real life as it looks in the picture. TWSS.

Snackage was another Haralson apple

Twas’ another crazy day at work.  Thankfully, this week shall be the last crazy one until at least 2010.  I wouldn’t mess around about that.

Dinner was the requisite yog mess

1 cup homemade Greek yog
1/4 cup Dylan’s Cranberry Walnut Chia granola
1 smashed naner
1 tbsp. Bee’s Knees PB

Thankfully, I actually did not need to stay at work super late and instead, my new workout bud Steph and I headed to a glorious 75-minute Power Yoga class.  I am talking crescent lunges to airplanes to needle back to crescent followed by multiple flows.  Needless to say, I am glowing in happiness right now.  Our teacher Karen – she doesn’t mess around.

My vinyasa flow of happiness continued on my walk home where I caught up with Daddy Everythingtarian via the cell and proceeded to find this in my mailbox…

AHHHHHHHH! Somebody who knows I have been desperately searching for Celestial Seasonings holiday tea is NOT messing around here. And she goes by the name of Alison (a.k.a. Mother of the Weeds).

To top it off, she even had Miss Ava draw me a picture…

Grapes, lettuce, carrots and brownies – oh how well she knows me ;). I am pretty sure this is the cutest thing ever and is staying on my fridge permanently.

Thank you SO much Alison!  You have know idea how much this brightened my chaotic, busy week!

Now, I am going to continue to not mess around by eating some Coconut Bliss, doing the dishes and getting to bed early. Tomorrow is Friday – THANK the sweet heavens above!

Did you floss today? (I have!) Have you done your 3 days of yoga yet? (I am 1/3)

What are your plans for the weekend? Mine are to sleep, launder, clean and do whatever I want!

Katie November 5, 2009 at 9:54 pm

Oh man, that bread is making me drool – as is the salad above it.

I haven’t flossed yet today, but I will in T-30 minutes or so!! Happy FINALLY FRIDAY tomorrow!

Jessica @ How Sweet It Is November 5, 2009 at 9:56 pm

Sarah @ The Foodie Diaries November 5, 2009 at 10:00 pm

I’ve been a MALO flosser :( But I promise to try to be a better woman, er, flosser; forgive me?

Allison (Eat Clean Live Green) November 5, 2009 at 10:14 pm

I can’t wait for the weekend! SLEEP!

BroccoliHut November 5, 2009 at 10:50 pm

That salad looks AMAZING. I like the sounds of a Sun Bun:)
So jealous that you found the seasonal teas–I can’t find them anywhere!

Megan (The Runner's Kitchen) November 5, 2009 at 11:34 pm

Love the junk salad, sun, bun, sugar cookie sleigh ride tea (!!), and yoga.

Don’t love the late nights at work. My boss just told me to “be prepared to stay veryyyy late next week”. Approximately ’till the 10pm hour. Double Ugh.

Junk salads and yogurt messes shall get me through! :-)

Whole Body Love November 5, 2009 at 11:35 pm

We are heading up to Mallard’s hometown. We will be visiting a couple who have been “together” since they were 12 and are now married and expecting their first child!

Chelsea @ (Chelsea's Chew and Run Fun) November 6, 2009 at 5:57 am

That sun bun looks like a roll of fun.

Alright, now that I’ve gotten my Dr.Suess rhyming tic out of the way…have fun decompressing from the week!

I’ve flossed and done one bout of yoga this week. Methinks I will catch up with the other two classes this weekend.

Madeline @ GreensAndJeans November 6, 2009 at 7:08 am

good gravy, that sun bun looks insane. I’m enjoying a cup of holiday tea right now! so good! if only I could be drinking it out of a red starbucks cup, than it might as well be christmas!

Emily (The Experimentarian) November 6, 2009 at 7:41 am

Dang girl, you’re eating just about as many apples as I am these days. Ah, tis the season right? I am doing excellently on the flossing challenge and pleased to hear you’re succeeding as well. Happy Friday! xoxo

Andrea@WellnessNotes November 6, 2009 at 7:53 am

Awesome salad! I haven’t had a really good salad in a while. I have had good salads, but not really good ones…. Must change that.

We are all fighting a cold, so I’ll just try to get as much rest as I can over the weekend.

Enjoy your weekend! :)

Courtney F November 6, 2009 at 7:57 am

That Sun Bun looks A.MA.ZING!!!

Low November 6, 2009 at 8:24 am

K November 6, 2009 at 8:31 am

Holy hell that sun bun looks like so much carby joy!

Hope you get some sleep. Actually, I DEMAND that you get some sleep :)

Anne K. November 6, 2009 at 8:38 am

Ugh, I hear ya on the sleep deprivation. I only got 5.5 hour last night and I’m dragging! The salad looks delicious, and I love that tea!! That and pumpkin tea are my absolute faves. The sun bun looks delish, too. My mom’s coming to visit this weekend, and I’m super excited :)

April November 6, 2009 at 8:43 am

That little roll looks so good! Those cheddar biscuits from Red Lobster are always so addicting.. I think any flavored bread is actually!

I flossed yesterday! And I attempted yoga but that was pretty much a failure!

Evan Thomas November 6, 2009 at 8:56 am

There is no messing with that salad, it looks like pure goodness!

Jessie (Vegan-minded) November 6, 2009 at 10:01 am

happy weekend lovebear! xo

Susan November 6, 2009 at 2:26 pm

I want your junk salad and sun bun pleeeease. Thnx :)

I have been sucking on the flossing. Will step up my game on that one. However there will be some sweetsweet living room yoga happening tomorrow :)

I’m working all weekend, with a little yoga, running, spinning and reading in between. Nothing overly exciting. Hope you get to rest up from your crazy week! xo

Angharad November 6, 2009 at 2:59 pm

Heavens above – thank goodness for the existence of amazing salad bars like that! And delicious yoga! I hit up class #2 for the week this morning and it also featured lots of crescent moons to airplanes. Niiice.

Love that yog mess. Just about to go and make meself one with a warmed Haralson. Forgot to tell you that they are also my NUMBER ONE fave apple. Word.

This weekend is gloriously unfilled so far! Tonight I’m going to the Timberwolves game but apart from that – hitting up Dick’s for some running apparel to get me through winter (!), maybe hitting up H&M because I can’t help myself, and hopefully working on some house shiz, definitely making the most of the 63 degree sunny weather promised tomorrow! Oh and BAKING.

insideiamdancing November 6, 2009 at 3:49 pm

Holy smokes, that lunch looks awesome. Hope you get so much deserved rest this weekend- sounds like a crazy week!

My weekend: tune harp, again, buy a heater (I have no heat in my apartment and it is freeeeezing), see my dad, sleep… I am so tired this week. I think my body is going into hibernation :P Oh, and baking muffins is a MUST this weekend!

Faith November 6, 2009 at 3:55 pm

I don’t know which part of your lunch looks more incredible — that salad or the gorgeous bread! What a cute drawing, I love kids’ artwork!

Dawn (HealthySDLiving) November 6, 2009 at 4:51 pm

OMG that bread looks amazing!! I cannot find that tea ANYWHERE! :(

Katharina November 6, 2009 at 5:04 pm

After entering this comment I will do a bit of yoga :) Get in my practice. You really don’t mess around girl. And that Sun Bun.. it reminds me of delicious fresh garlicky cheese biscuits! Soooo fluffy and when you pull it apart all the steam comes out.

I LOVE Sugar cookie tea.

p.s. I dug the zucchini loaf :D If you want, I can send ya some! I also want to make some other goodies as well. Goshhh the season of giving is here ;)

Katie November 6, 2009 at 5:28 pm

Kailey (SnackFace) November 6, 2009 at 7:26 pm

Oh I want that salad and roll thing. Amaze.

I’m not messing around by picking out every single chocolate chip out of this darn trail mix. I don’t need the nuts, just the chocolate, yo.

Ummm I have neither flossed nor yoga-ed. But I am getting ready to go out. Because I don’t mess around either, boo.

Have a lovely, relaxing weekend! Love you!!
