It’s a Britney Spears sex riot.

Please tell me you watched Glee tonight.

It’s the only way you’ll understand the title of this post.

Not to alienate the non-Glee watchers or anything, but when Sue uttered the words, “It’s a Britney Spears sex riot!” I about fell on the floor with a collapsed lung from laughing so hard. That show makes me want to relive my high school days, bring back my wardrobe of uber-flared jeans + Abercrombie & Fitch clothes, re-highlight my hair an obnoxious shade of blonde and join glee club.

My high school didn’t have a glee club, but that’s beside the point here.

Anyways, I am not really sure how to segue between Glee, Britney Spears sex riots and this blog (Kailey, help please?), so let’s just say I had a big ol’ bowl of Three Sisters Sweet Wheat cereal with skim milk and a banana this morning…

In case you’re wondering, Three Sisters sent me three of their healthy, sustainable and environmentally-friendly (made from wind energy!) cereals to review for the blog. I reviewed the Marshmallow Oaties last week before breaking open this version of “healthified” Frosted Mini Wheats.

The two main ingredients: whole grain wheat + evaporated milled sugar.

The verdict? Deliciously crunchy, not too sweet and a hefty six grams of fiber per serving…

I give it the Everythingtarian stamp of approval.

In honor of Glee (see above), my friends + I have designated Tuesday night Glee parties. Yes, Glee parties. Tonight, I arrived at Steph’s house ready to sex riot, and she had already laid out cinnamon sugar roasted chickpeas as a healthy yet delicious appetizer…

Then, taking my culinary prowess and a too big butternut squash (TWSS), I took the advice of Madeline from my last post and whipped up a batch of Butternut Squash + Apple Soup and pepperjack cheese-topped spelt English muffins

Perfection…on both accounts.

But can you really go wrong with a side of cheese + carbs? I think not…

I deemed it a Glee party success.

And, speaking of successes…

A bit better from last week, no?

At this granny-like rate, it will take me another month of resisting to chomp on my fingernails before I actually feel confident enough to venture to the nail salon for a sassy red manicure without fear the nail ladies will be making fun of me for my stubby fingers behind my back the whole time.

Before we part ways…

  • Have you liked me on Facebook yet? Please like me. I like you. I do. I really, really do.
  • Have you seen my new Best Of… page? I promise you only the best.
  • If you’re a blogger, have you booked your ticket to the 2010 Foodbuzz Festival? If not, you should because I would love to meet you there! That’s right – I decided to take the foodie (and financial) leap and attend this blogger’s festival. Well, that is after I make sure I can get off work. Minor detail.

Are you a Gleek? If so, who is your favorite character? If not, what’s your favorite show on TV right now? My name is Holly, and I am a Gleek-aholic. My favorite character is Brittany (aka ditzy cheerleader), followed closely by Kurt and Sue. My fave non-Glee show is The Office, mostly because John Krasinski is a close second to Jake Gyllenhaal in my heart.

Evan Thomas September 28, 2010 at 9:24 pm

I am not a Gleek; your reference goes lost on me :-(

Obvs I’m most excited about Grey’s Anatomy. Bring on the drama; bring on the trauma.

Erica September 28, 2010 at 9:27 pm

ahhh I totally missed Glee tonight. I will have to catch up. I was super excited about this episode too. Um- I’m a huge mini wheats fan so I totally NEED to try this cereal. Mini wheats make me loose control :) Great soup. Looks tasty friend. And sweet roast chickpeas? Deliciousness. I totally want to go to the festival but ahhh the $$

Angharad September 28, 2010 at 9:30 pm

You are talking gibberish to me. But that’s ok. I’m obsessed with mad men and I don’t expect anyone else to understand my deep rooted feelings about Betty Draper, Don, and Joan.

Also, email coming soon.xxxx

Matt September 28, 2010 at 9:31 pm

Glee was AWESOME. No words.

Lyndsie September 28, 2010 at 9:56 pm

Brittany is also my favorite Glee character ANNNNDDDD I’m an Office fanatic. We’re obviously meant to be friends :)

Garet September 28, 2010 at 9:59 pm

My name is Garet. I’m a confirmed Gleek, and my favorite character is Artie. I love all of his solos, and I was very impressed by his rendition of “Stronger” tonight. I also think his glasses and ears are super awesome.

katie September 28, 2010 at 10:18 pm

i shall def like you on face book!!

hippierunner September 28, 2010 at 10:32 pm

AHHH! Not only has Glee not aired yet but I don’t even have TV so I gots to wait a few hours to catch it on Hulu! My fave characters are Kurt, Santana and Finn. And I second what you said about the Office! Jim gets cuter and cuter!

Kristie September 28, 2010 at 10:41 pm

So, I watched Glee for the first time tonight. Not quite a Gleek, but I did like it :). I love The Office, but have you watched Community? I

Katie September 28, 2010 at 11:36 pm

I’ve never seen Glee, but I just got cable on Saturday, so I’m new to this whole “tv” thing. I don’t even know what shows I should watch, let alone when they are on. So much to learn…

Lynn @ The Actors Diet September 29, 2010 at 12:35 am

i’m not a glee-k (ha ha) but i did watch tonight’s episode b/c i’m going to be mc-ing an event with the guy who plays the principal. and i AM going to foodbuzz – can’t wait to meet you!!!

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) September 29, 2010 at 12:47 am

Ive never watched an episode of Glee. Oh well..

“cinnamon sugar roasted chickpeas” = i was JUST going to roast chickpeas for the 1st time ever..tomorrow. I kid you not. If you have any tips on that, holla! Otherwise, I’ll wing it til they look like Steph’s, or maybe a lil lighter, I dont want any dark ones or Skylar will give me the evil stares.

Foodbuzz. I have a spot reserved. I dont have a ticket bought but I am thinking about going…Write to me..LMK where you’re staying, the info, deets, whatever you know, fill me in on it!

Madeline is amazing. She is just the best. Love that you used her suggestion. The soup and the whole meal turned out awesome!

Laura September 29, 2010 at 12:50 am

Glee is on tonight in Aus, can’t wait!!!

elise September 29, 2010 at 2:10 am

omg. Best. Episode. EVERRRRRR!! gah. I saved it and am going to rewatch it like four more times in the next 24 hours…

Little Bookworm September 29, 2010 at 4:50 am

Favourite show on tv right now…A Town Called Eureka, I think. Congrats on not biting your nails, and that ring on your hand is really pretty!

Lauren September 29, 2010 at 5:51 am

I love cereal but I love healthy versions of my favorite kid cereals even more. I need to find Three Sisters. :)

Just made the Pumpkin Spice Roasted Chic Peas the other day. Oh I almost forgot how good these little things are.

I am so friending you on FB!!!!!

Uncle Tommie Timbertoes September 29, 2010 at 5:56 am

When I saw the ring I thought you got engaged. I like Troy from Swamp People. Ya gotta watch that show. A Spike TV version of Glee.

Alex @ IEatAsphalt September 29, 2010 at 7:22 am

I died as soon as I saw the title of your post. I literally wrote that one every one of my friend’s walls last night. That episode was the single greatest thing that has happened to me in a long time. I think I’m still recovering from the excitement.

Mara @ What's For Dinner? September 29, 2010 at 7:36 am

Between that line and the one where the nerdy girl said “I wanna be that hat!!!!” I’m such a gleek…So proud of you with the nails. I quit biting when i was 11, then again at 16… Its SO hard!

brandi September 29, 2010 at 8:14 am

Great job with the nails so far, girl! :)

I flipped between Glee and One Tree Hill, but I’ll be catching up today or tomorrow ;)

Sami September 29, 2010 at 9:01 am

Not a huge fan of Glee. I tried to watch it online once, since I’m always in class on Tuesday nights, but I just couldn’t get into it? I love One Tree Hill & Melissa & Joey, though.

Liking you….NOW. :)

I WISH I could afford to book at trip to CALI for foodbuzz!

Susan September 29, 2010 at 9:37 am

Uh YES I watched Glee! Britt is also my fave. Best one liners plus she is BY FAR the most bitchin’ dancer on that show. Sue is a close second. Honestly I was hoping to like John Stamos more. Ah well, ya win some ya lose some.

Kacy September 29, 2010 at 9:55 am

Sue is hands down the reason I love that show. Hilarious! What I don’t love about the show? All the solitary tear-falls while singing. Enough already. It’s high school, nothing is that serious yet.

Still haven’t made the foodie decision of Foodbuzz Fest yet. I have a friend that wants to go to SanFran around that time and having her go would help me A LOT financially, but she’s being indecisive. And I have an event at work at that time and I’m not sure I can get off. But I want to go sooo badly, and I’m not ruling it out!

April September 29, 2010 at 10:40 am

You are too funny with Glee! I’m the same way with The Middle..have you seen that show?

Megan (Braise the Roof) September 29, 2010 at 10:52 am

Last night was the first full episode of Glee that I’ve watched- it was funny! I have to say, Sue’s a funny one. :)

That soup looks awesome- well done. And, say, we both had chickpeas last night!!

Megan (The Runner's Kitchen) September 29, 2010 at 11:43 am

Wahh, I love Glee, but I am so painfully behind on my TV shows it’s ridic. Must.catch.up.tonight. No excuses!

Those pepperjack cheese muffins look delish!

Madeline - Greens and Jeans September 29, 2010 at 11:56 am

Britney is by FAR my favorite Glee character so last night’s episode was pure bliss. Britt Britt plus Stamos? Perfect episode. Plus, I get to see you so soon!

Jessica September 29, 2010 at 12:04 pm

Ha! Ooooh my, oh my, oh my. Glee was so hilarious last night, and I freaking loved all the B-spears remakes. And Brittany! She’s probably one of my favorite characters too–poor girl has had to “traumatically live with the name of Brittany S. Pears her whole life”….hahah, too funny…really. And I probably quoted that wrong, but i’m sure you know the reference!

Loved this post and love your glee parties! No shame. I guess we have tv parties at the soror house every night too…excpet I rarely have time to make half of them! I’m also a big grey’s, gg and weeds fan :) Love youuuuu

Jenna September 29, 2010 at 12:15 pm

I’m not a Gleek. :( A lot of my friends are though! I’ve actually never watched an episode. My friend is trying to con me in to watching one by spinning it as a girls night with wine. Lol.

I love Parenthood, but I’m just cheesy like that!

Maura September 29, 2010 at 12:18 pm

Bahahaha, I looove the title of this post! I’m a total Gleek too. Fav Glee character: Mr. Shue.

Matthew Morrison is dreamy.

Other than Glee, Grey’s & Gossip Girl are my favs!

janetha g. @ meals & moves September 29, 2010 at 1:04 pm

Unfortunately, I don’t watch glee.. and don’t get the joke. But that didn’t stop me from reading this post! Good thing, too, or I would never have known about this enticing cereal that looks a lot like my beloved Frosted Mini Wheats! I wonder where I can find the 3 sisters stuff. Props on the nail progress! By the time we meet in San Fran I am sure they will be long and lovely. WOW. SAN FRAN. FINALLY GONNA UNITE!

Katie September 29, 2010 at 1:14 pm

I’ve never watched Glee, but was planning on it last night but got caught up in my book and before i knew it, it was 10pm! Oops. But I do love Rescue Me, True Blood, and Man V. Food! And Community. Joel McHale is HOT!

Nic September 29, 2010 at 1:34 pm

EEEKKKK! I can’t wait to watch Glee! I DVR it and watch it with a friend after our Zumba class on Friday night. I can’t wait for this episode! My favorite Glee character is Sue followed closely by Emma… she is so darn cute :)

Marci September 29, 2010 at 1:36 pm

Hooray for Foodbuzz! I’m going too! Bit the bullet and booked it, but haven’t met anyone before!

jeri September 29, 2010 at 1:46 pm

I’m a wee bit obsessed with Finn Hudson. Sweet jesus he’s a cutie. And I do love me some John Krasinski too, but the office has gone downhill imo. Sad face. :(

Justine September 29, 2010 at 2:24 pm

I was in show choir my senior year. I have no idea why I haven’t gotten into GLee yet.

PS- the butternut squash soup looks fantastic! Love the colour :)

Dana September 29, 2010 at 3:34 pm

Ah man! I already have plans November 5-7 and won’t be able to attend this year’s foodbuzz festival. BUMMER! Have you tried your skim/soy latte yet? : )

Sarah B. September 29, 2010 at 6:10 pm

I LOVE Britney too! Everything she says makes me laugh :)

Lorna September 29, 2010 at 6:34 pm

Although not a Glee watcher, I did like you on Facebook and catch up on how you got to be an everythingarian :) Great story btw, and your nails are looking good!!!!!!!

Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) September 29, 2010 at 7:03 pm

Not a Glee watcher, but I have friends who are obsessed—absolutely *obsessed*!! I may have to jump on that band wagon. :D

Megan @ The Oatmeal Diaries September 29, 2010 at 7:03 pm

I almost want to become a Gleek for the sole reason of having parties such as yours. If only I could get some friends who know how to make those roasted chickpeas!!

Amy September 29, 2010 at 7:55 pm

I’m definitely a Gleek…and if course Finn is my favorite character because he reminds me of the boy I’d want to date in high school :) Tuesday nights pose a large dilemma in our household though because NCIS is also on at the same time and we are IN LOVE with that show. I want to be Ziva~ If you’ve never watched it, it’s quite entertaining!

Great seeing you this past weekend!

BroccoliHut September 29, 2010 at 8:36 pm

Ah, those cheesy biscuits look phenomenal!!
Total Gleek here–I really like Emma, because well, we all know that I’m a little OCD too.

Monica September 29, 2010 at 8:39 pm

omgee, when I was in high school our dance team did “me against the music” at a pep rally and legitimately caused a Britney Spears sex riot. Parents called to complain, the principle yelled at us, and we were forbidden from doing the dance at any school function again. So, last night’s Glee totally brought back fond memories :)

(PS–I totally just delurked. I hate that word but love yo blog!)

Kailey (SnackFace) September 29, 2010 at 8:43 pm

“Though my school never had a glee club, I certainly have a breakfast club of my own. It includes me and a bowl of frosted wheat, which was basically a sex riot in my mouth.” Or something like that…

I about DIED when Sue said that. I don’t understand the people who hate on Glee. It is the most outrageously hysterical show out there! Can we create an online Glee club where we post videos of us singing to our favorite songs? Or is that just pathetic? I think I know the answer…

I need a damn Foodbuzz ticket. NEED.

Katie September 30, 2010 at 8:19 am

I just want you to know that I read this post last night, and then went and watched Glee on hulu for the first time in my life. It was hilarious. Thanks for the inspiration. :-)

PS. You’re nails are lookin good, girl!

Big hugs.

Diana @ frontyardfoodie October 3, 2010 at 7:19 pm

I tried to watch Glee once and it didn’t really do it for me like I thought it would. It’s SO close to hitting the mark though!

Leanne October 5, 2010 at 5:49 pm

I’m bummed about not being able to go to Food Buzz festival….but I love the looks of that soup.

Have a blast!
