Two words connected with a hyphen that perfectly describe my weekend: jam-packed.

I kind of feel bad for y’all this week. Now that I am a two job workin’ woman trying to fit in a yoga + flossing challenge on top of adult responsibilities, there is a serious lack of hilarious, random non-food pics of yours truly and her life.

Wait a sec…

Two words connected with a hyphen that perfectly describe me right now: uber-narcissistic.

Who am I kidding? It’s all about the food!

Yesterday, after cleaning like a mad woman, I rewarded myself with a trip to the Dane County Farmer’s Market where I found these little guys…

Ummm…how cute are these mini butternut squashes?  WAY CUTE.

I had big plans to take gloriously gorgeous pics of the farmer’s market since the weather was so nice.  However, instead of worrying about documenting every little detail, I just enjoyed the experience. What a thought, huh?  Taking some time to actually enjoy the sights, sounds, smells and beautiful produce…we should all do it more often.

When I arrived home, this goodie box from a certain Experimentarian was waiting for me…

Gingerbread Chai tea?  Pumpkin spice salt water taffy?

One pumpkin spice truffle + gingerbread truffle?

Tea exchanges rule.

Emily…thank you SOOOO much!  The package was wonderful, and your note was so sweet.  Your tea delivery shall be on its way tomorrow!

I then yoga-ed for 60 minutes with the help of Dave Farmar before heading to work at the PT job again.

This morning, I had an 8:30am quarterly staff meeting to discuss the chaos that is holiday shopping at the PT job.  In order to fuel up for the inevitable annoying group role playing, question answering and watching of obnoxious videos from 1989, I stocked up my belly with some Apple Pie Oatmeal.

1/3 cup oats
2/3 cup organic skim milk
splash of vanilla extract
1 medium Haralson apple
lotsa apple pie spice
sprinkle of almond meal
drizzle of maple syrup

Since I am without nut butter (ahhhh, the horror!), this protein-lacking bowl only lasted me a couple hours.  I noshed on some emergency dried apricots, a banana + trail mix granola bar while inevitably role playing how to sell dinner wear to someone while pimping out the store’s credit card.

I got home from work starving, so I immediately broke open my last bag of Food Should Taste Good chips – this time in good ol’ corn flavor!  Paired with salsa, you can’t not love.

If you don’t remember, the lovely peeps at FSTG sent me their products to review awhile back.  Yes, it took me two months to dive into the yellow corn. Verdict? LOVE ‘EM.  Crunchy, salty, corny + delicious.

Followed up by all 10 pieces of pumpkin spice taffy sent to me from Emily.  Yes, all 10.  Yes, pumpkin spice salt water taffy is the new pink.

Then, I ran 3 1/2 miles with my friend Chris while my lungs burned incessantly.

Dinner made up for it thankfully.

That would be 1 Sunshine Falafel patty with BBQ sauce, kale chips with parmesan and balsamic-roasted cippollini onions. I really want dessert, but since I did scarf savor each individual piece of that saltwater taffy, I am going to try and hold out.

Off to do laundry.

Two words connected by a hyphen that perfectly describe my mood: dread-filled.

What’s the most exciting thing to happen to you in the past two weeks? Since I am way behind in blog reading, catch me up on your lives yo!  My most exciting thing: the giveaway that is happening on da blog tomorrow!

Jenna November 8, 2009 at 6:13 pm

dinner looks fab!

Evan Thomas November 8, 2009 at 6:17 pm

2 weeks? You are behind :-) I think the most exciting thing for me in that time was walking right past emma watson wearing a full chicken suit on the day before Halloween. You can’t beat those moments in life.

Katie November 8, 2009 at 6:26 pm

Those roasted onions look unreal! I love when they get caramely and sweet like that. Yums.

Good luck with your week! I am going to see the play Wicked on Thursday, and I am super excited about it – I can’t remember anything in the past 2 weeks…I’ll just look forward. :-)

Jessica @ How Sweet It Is November 8, 2009 at 6:35 pm

Pumpkin spice taffy sounds pretty darn good. And the tea sounds yummy good, too. You have been super busy – I think its great you just relaxed at the farmer’s market. :)

Faith November 8, 2009 at 6:40 pm

I’m glad you decided to enjoy the farmers market instead of worrying about photographing everything…I’m the same way, sometimes I get obsessed with pics, especially when I make a new recipe I feel like I have to take pics of the whole process and somewhere along the way it feels more like a chore than stress-reliever! What a great goodie box, I could go for a cup of gingerbread chai right now!

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) November 8, 2009 at 6:49 pm

Wow: Gingerbread Chai tea? Pumpkin spice salt water taffy?

One pumpkin spice truffle + gingerbread truffle?

I need to open my mail and see that in there. All I get is bills or protein bars. Not that they arent great but ummm yours mailbox is better :)

Good job on the Yoga w/ Dave!

glidingcalm November 8, 2009 at 7:15 pm

Kate November 8, 2009 at 7:34 pm

On Saturday I did a starlight trail race with my husband- I think that’s the winner for me!

Alison November 8, 2009 at 7:34 pm

I could NOT figure out what those onions were at first. I thought they were snails!

Wait – you did something or went some where and didn’t take pics for the blog? BLASPHEMY!

Madeline @ GreensAndJeans November 8, 2009 at 7:35 pm

that tea looks ridic! I had my first blogger meet up today, so that was pretty exciting!

Jenny November 8, 2009 at 7:53 pm

that package makes me want to whip out my NSYNC christmas album and cuddle up near the fire :) with you, obvi.

I loveeee corn chips — prob. due to the many days I spent ODing on fritos. Oh elementary school…

the most exciting thing in my life was Ginge coming home this weekend and eating pudding pie — is that pathetic?!

xoxo to you muffin!

Matt November 8, 2009 at 8:20 pm

Two weeks behind? Damn you must be busy! It is pretty much the same old same old for me. Just trying to be by…

Katie November 8, 2009 at 8:27 pm

Man my life is so boring! Nothing exciting! I wish our Farmer’s Market was open still :/ Sounds like a busy fun weekend!

I’m so ready for Xmas good food and family :)

Jess November 8, 2009 at 8:35 pm

That tea exchange is so cute!! That toffee sounds fantastic!
<3 jess

Tay November 8, 2009 at 9:05 pm

That looks like an awesome package! Anything pumpkin – oh man oh man. I bought some of that saltwater taffy here recently and it’s sooooo good. I’m sad I’m out of it :-(

Mimi (Damn the Freshman 15) November 8, 2009 at 9:17 pm

Most exciting thing? My life is dull! I did get a pedicure though, so my feet had an adventure.

Oooh, I want to try that apple oatmeal!

Megan (The Runner's Kitchen) November 8, 2009 at 9:17 pm

Hmm, most exciting thing to happen in the last 2 weeks? I think today’s weather (70 degrees in NYC!) + 12 mile long run + amazing yoga class were the best part of the last 2 weeks….Now I just have to prepare myself for a hell-ish week at work. Eeek!

Love your apple pie oatmeal. Keep up the hard work lady!

Jenny November 8, 2009 at 9:19 pm

O.M.G. I must have “lost” your blog over the past week or so!!

I was wondering to myself…”what’s happened to the healthyeverythingatarian?”…and low and behold, you’d escaped my google reader!!

So I guess I have to say that RE-discovering your blog is the most exciting thing to happen to me lately ;)

Anne K. November 8, 2009 at 9:33 pm

Wow, that’s like the best present ever! All those Fall goodies look fantastic, especially the pumpkin taffy and truffles. The apple pie oats look delicious, too. The most exciting thing was that my mom came and visited this weekend, and we did a TON of stuff–went to botanical gardens, restaurants, a park, shopping, got massages. It was really fun :)

Andrea@WellnessNotes November 8, 2009 at 9:51 pm

You actually went to the Farmers’ Market and didn’t worry about taking a million pictures from the best possible angle while dropping all your purchases on the ground and spilling coffee over yourself and some random person? And you enjoyed the sights and sounds and smells without documenting them? And you didn’t stress out over “the missed opportunity”? Hmmm. Sounds interesting. ;)

I hate to report that there is absolutely nothing exciting happening in my life (other than that I’m still kind of sick; but that’s just annoying, not exciting).

Have a great week! :)

Chelsea @ (Chelsea's Chew and Run Fun) November 8, 2009 at 9:56 pm

Most exciting thing that happened was easily last night’s dinner (Craftsteak) followed by a play starring Matthew Broderick. My friend and I did up NY fancy style!

Sorry to hear you’re flummoxed with busy bee-ness, that can get stressful. However, I think that’s where pumpkin spice taffy (along with those other yummy looking goodies) come in handy.

Kailey (SnackFace) November 8, 2009 at 9:57 pm

Ha, Andrea’s comment above is actually very interesting. Sometimes I need no-camera days!

The past two weeks have been busy and crazy. But I like to think about how in exactly two weeks, I’ll be in da cityyyyyy. GAHHH.

Oh! I know what hasn’t happened in the past two weeks! Any contact with that guy I told you about. Forgetting about him forever.

Not forgetting about you and your crazy week ahead of you! I wish you luck, lovepie!! xoxo

Devan Geselle Newan November 8, 2009 at 10:11 pm

sophia November 9, 2009 at 1:00 am

Most exciting thing: FOODBUZZ FEST!!! OH MY GOD the BEST event EVER!

Mama Pea November 9, 2009 at 1:05 am

I got a cold. The girls are in their swimsuits 24-7. Gigi has had a few “accidents.” You know, the usual.

Those onions look awesome! I must try.

Diana November 9, 2009 at 2:21 am

Nothing realy exciting happened, which is kinda sad I know. :|

Susan November 9, 2009 at 5:13 am

Aww, I’m sorry you didn’t get much of a relaxing weekend! If it makes you feel any better, the time before Christmas always FLIES by, so the madness should be over soon enough :)

I usually don’t take pictures at the farmers market either. It’s always super crowded and stressful, I just want to get my food and get out!

Abby November 9, 2009 at 6:45 am

Gotta love training videos circa 1980 with cell phones as big as a VCR making an appearance…

Anyway, can’t wait for your giveaway! Mine just ended, and it was neat to hear from all those lurkers that never leave comments. I found so many new blogs to check out!

Aside from the great weather yesterday, nothing super exciting… I mean, TONS of great stuff, so you should read all about it on my blog :)

Emily (The Experimentarian) November 9, 2009 at 7:15 am

Yaaaaayyyeeeee!!! So glad you got your package! And you photographed it so pretty, too :) You will die when you eat that pumpkin truffle. Die. I almost forgot I am getting a package, too. Now I am excited all over again! oooh, and those onions look like the bomb. dot com. for real. Love yoouuuu! xoxo

insideiamdancing November 9, 2009 at 8:00 am

Yay farmers market…and no worries. Just being in the moment is a-okay! Awesome package from Em! She’s fab :) I really really hope you replenish your nut butter stash soon. I am starting to worry :( :P

Most exciting thing in the past 2 weeks…well since you cheated and said something that isn’t happening until TOMORROW, I am saying something that is happening on Thursday :) (job interview…no biggie)

Mellissa November 9, 2009 at 9:26 am

All of that food looks amazing! It has been a good two weeks, I just got back from San Fran and am heading to Rio in less than two weeks!

Angharad November 9, 2009 at 9:44 am

That was indeed a jam packed weekend! Your package is way cute (twss) you lucky girl! How ridiculous was the weather this weekend?! We bbqed! oh, and i STILL have the fstg coupons that i have yet to redeem..bah…laziness trumps cheapness! haha

Catie Cummings November 9, 2009 at 11:18 am

I’m with you on the laundry thing. I don’t remember when I last did some … sigh. I just know that it’s been long enough that I’m wearing underwear I don’t like.

And I love zhena’s tea–never tried the pumpkin chai. You’ll have to say how you like it!

Kaytee November 9, 2009 at 12:26 pm

I need to make kale chips… and I need to track down those falafel patties. Falafel is one of my favorite things.

naomi(onefitfoodie) November 9, 2009 at 1:47 pm

Low November 9, 2009 at 3:24 pm

That package from Emily is super fab!

Love the mini bnuts! Anything mini makes me swoon.

Those onions just melted my heart. I. want. them.

Michelle November 9, 2009 at 3:52 pm

yayy thank you for thinking of us Holly!! If I had this whey protein, the first thing I would do is bake it into my granola. I’ve gone one a huge granola kick lately, so I’d dissolve a pack into oil and honey to coat the granola with and then make it in the oven… just to give it that extra kick of protein and flavor!!

Michelle November 9, 2009 at 3:54 pm

Totally love your flossing challenge cuz i’m applying to dental school, and that is the one thing even I get super lazy about doing!

Your beautiful onions are making me salivate…why didn’t I ever think of that?!?!?!? Oh wow, those butternut squashes are TEENY. :P

clay November 9, 2009 at 7:05 pm

This weekend I took down the biggest pancake breakfast in South Florida… the first person to have ever done it.

In hindsight, it might not have been the best idea. I think next time ill just opt for a short stack at Ihop… but most likelt make my own.
