Ladies’ Night

I have the most genius secret.

Wanna know what it is?

Is that a yes?

Good, because I can’t not share this. I mean, it’s the most simple, brilliant recipe I’ve ever come across.

And delicious!

Did I mention delicious?

Because it is.

Take 3 cups of flour (I used spelt), one tablespoon of baking powder and a generous pinch of salt.

Then, take a bottle of your favorite yeasty brew and add it in…pour by pour…

After some gentle folding, it will look a lil’ something like this…

Knead several times on a generously floured surface.

Roll out with a a rolling pin (or can of black beans, in my case).

Top with EVOO + fresh garlic.

Par bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees.

Add a Pomi crushed + strained tomato base (spiced with 1/2 T Italian seasoning + salt), zucchini, fresh basil, spinach + white cheddar cheese. Bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Start singing the “50 States” song in honor of your U.S.-shaped pizza.

“Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut and Delaware…”

Take a luxurious moment to admire your spelt flour crust…

…thank my friend Steph for this GENIUS recipe…

…and finally, host a ladies night to enjoy said pizza!

Let’s be real, ladies’ night is all about the food.

Start with some edamame drizzled with low sodium soy sauce…

…continue the fun with a low cal veggie soup…

…and end with pizza.

Always pizza.

Don’t forget el vino, because that would quite frankly be a terrible tragedy.

If you have a wine oxiginator on hand, it would make things taste even tastier.

Taste even tastier?

Don’t judge me…I am two glasses down writing this post.

Teen Mom premiere on MTV anyone?

Yes, Teen Mom. After all, it IS ladies’ night.

Don’t forget to enter my Oikos Chocolate Indulgence giveaway!

Looks great! I have never tried spelt pizza crust, but I need to ;)

Abby July 20, 2010 at 9:20 pm

I want to come to your Ladies’ Night! Now that song is in my head and I might just have to start dancing around my living room by myself (and I haven’t even been into the wine.) Hmmm…maybe this is why I’m not invited to Ladies’ Night more often? ;)

Amy B @ Second City Randomness July 20, 2010 at 9:24 pm

Ok. Beer dough?

Genius. Seriously. You’re my favorite person right now.

Jackie @ TriToLose July 20, 2010 at 9:28 pm

Oh. My. Gawd. I love beer bread and I never thought to put it to use as a pizza dough! You’re a genius.

My favorite beer to use is Lenie’s Red. For some reason, it just tastes awesome. I haven’t tried Spotted Cow yet!

Erica July 20, 2010 at 9:39 pm

Beer pizza??? I think my husbands head may have just exploded. What a great creation. I love trashy tv- so I would never judge :)

i miss beer bread soooooooooo much. :(

Diana @ frontyardfoodie July 21, 2010 at 6:37 am

Whoa! That IS a genius idea! I know my husband will have a renewed sense of respect for me and my pizza baking if I can do a beer bread crust! Not to mention, it’s a great way for a major preggo to get some beer. It’s a crime that I can’t have wine.

Lauren July 21, 2010 at 7:28 am

Did you seriously just make Beer Bread Pizza? That IS a genius idea!!!!! :)

Kacy July 21, 2010 at 7:43 am

Holy Moly, I COULD DO THAT! I’ve always been terrified of pizza crust, but I will have to try that. You rock.

Girls night looks amazing!

brandi July 21, 2010 at 7:54 am

Wowza. I’ve had beer bread before, but never beer pizza dough! What a great idea!

I’ve been thinking of doing a sourdough pizza dough, but keep forgetting!

Maura July 21, 2010 at 8:01 am

Hahah Teen Mom! I’m soo happy I’m not the only person in the world that watches that show. I heart Maci. She’s my fav..a.lthough baby Sophia is a close second. Farrah’s mom is a crazy biatchhh. OK – I really need to get out more!

PS. Beer pizza dough?! Girlll you are brilliant!

Jenna July 21, 2010 at 8:16 am

I’m slighlty obsessed with beer bread, so beer pizza dough would suit my fancy just fine. :)

Katie July 21, 2010 at 8:27 am

GENIUS! I LOVE when I have all of the ingredients needed for a simple (and fabulous) recipe… and I’ve been craving pizza like whoa, so this must be a sign. Thanks!

Catie July 21, 2010 at 9:05 am

Katie July 21, 2010 at 10:44 am

Oh my word! That pizza crust is seriously genius! It can’t really get easier than that!

Also, I love the 50 states song. I teach it to my kiddos every year, and as a result, it is stuck in my head from January – March…and I still love it.

April July 21, 2010 at 11:10 am

Haha, I love the idea of that pizza bread! I’m sure my boyfriend and his roomates would be all over that.. too bad they eat too much or I’d make it for them! (I’d probably have to make like 10 of them)!

Ally (Sweet & Savory) July 21, 2010 at 12:51 pm

I’ve been making beer bread for years…but never thought to make it into pizza dough!

tanyasdaily July 21, 2010 at 12:55 pm

That crust looks GREAT, my fav part of the pizza!

Megan (Braise the Roof) July 21, 2010 at 1:02 pm

I may be making pizza for dinner tonight. Using that exact recipe. Maybe my blood sugar is low because I haven’t eaten lunch yet, but holy cow that pizza looks SO. GOOD. :)

Rachael July 21, 2010 at 1:26 pm

The epic quest to include beer in as many food forms as possible is noble indeed. Carry on, soldier.

Lindsey @ Foodie on the Rocks July 21, 2010 at 1:49 pm

Say what?? Goodbye yeast. Hello bread pizza crust!! You’re my hero.

Angharad July 21, 2010 at 2:07 pm

Jenny July 21, 2010 at 6:20 pm

I love the fact that I can’t legally eat that pizza. (and by love, I mean hate).

I totally missed Teen Mom last night and watched Book of Eli instead. Where are my priorities?

Jess July 21, 2010 at 7:05 pm

I LOVE teen mom, it’s my guilty pleasure :D

That dough looks amazing!!

Danielle (Runs on Green) July 21, 2010 at 7:12 pm

Enjoy ladies night!

Andrea@WellnessNotes July 21, 2010 at 10:59 pm

Your pizza looks great!!! I haven’t made pizza in ages… It’s about time… And it’s a great excuse to drink some wine… :)

andi July 26, 2010 at 1:19 am

apparently I only comment on your blog when you post pictures of Spotted Cow (apologies in advance). I am jealous!! my girlfriend and I are road-tripping back to your lovely state in September. we tell ourselves it’s for a concert (which it is), but our main goal is Spotted Cow and Trader Joes. win? probably not. haha. but once we have replenished our stock, we will be trying this beer pizza recipe for sure. :)
