let the pictures do the talkin’…

Hope y’all are having a fabulous three-day weekend, because I totally have!  Since I’ve been jabbering away with words these past couple days, I thought it would be best to let the pictures do the talkin’…

Let’s pick it up post-13 mile run

Ezekiel pita + TJ’s Triple Layer Hummus + orange pepper + salsa

raw almonds + dried apples

Yeah, I said 13-miles, instead of the planned 14 miles.  The reason why I cut it short? A long overdue reunion slash pre-football tailgating with one of my BFFs forever.

My partner in crime, Diana Rae a.k.a. mi comisura
(which means “corner of the mouth” in Spanish).

The definition of class – beer + deep-friend cheese curds + Mardi Gras-esque beads.

The Wisconsin Marching Band doin’ their thang.

Love these peeps.

I don’t actually recall everything I ate, but I do remember walking home 3 miles buzzed, talking to this girl on the phone and finding myself smack dab in the middle of The Taste of Madison.  With two dollars left from the purchases of above and drunk food on the mind, this was in order…

I like their style.

I like the style of Mint Chip ice cream even better.

A glorious night of 8 1/2 hours of sleep later…

Savory Oats – 1/2 cup oats, 1 cup sauteed zucchini, pinch salt, grated parm,
1 egg + heap o’ salsa

…and a 2 hour drive back home later…

A heavenly yog mess – Chobani plain Greek yogurt, 1/4 cup Dylan’s Cranberry Almond
Chia granola, dried apples/raspberries + drizzle of agave

Reheated leftover veggie goodness.

…I arrived to the Everythingtarian casa!

Yeah, Barbie + Ken are pretty healthified and have good food schtuff at the house, which hence, is one of the reason why I get so excited to go home (because I steal food to bring back to my place…mu ha ha!).

Best.  Roll-up.  Ever.
(Flat-Out + Justin’s Honey PB + cinnamon + choco chips)

Magazine reading.  Grocery store run.  The Way We Were movie viewing (one of my faves!).  Grease moving viewing (another fave).  Baking time.

Yeah, that’s right.  Walnut Chocolate Chip Banana Bread.  Props to Granny for the recipe.

While the fam did their thang, I did my thang and yours truly whipped up dindin.

grilled zucchini, sweet potato fries w/ ketchup, slices French baguette +
Almond, Parmesan + Basil-Crusted Walleye

dessert: Edy’s Slow-Churned Vanilla Bean + 1/2 banana bread (see above)

not the prettiest picture, but in the words of my mom, “you’ve taken worse.”

After family game time, Mama + I worked it out…

Physique 57, which was made famous by this lady…

Verdict? Awesome.  I need to buy this DVD.  Mixing ballet, pilates and calisthenics, we were literally crying out in pain (in a totally good way).  Fifty-seven minutes of toning will definitely be felt tomorrow.

Alrighty dudes, I am off to finish watching Changeling…which is uber-intense in an also good way.

Hope you are enjoying your weekend…see you around soon :).

Oh my cute chica. I am so glad to come home from the bar to this post…drunk blog reading is the best! I was happy to talk to you in your tipsy state yesterday you little monkey…and I’m super glad you ate mint choc ice cream. I ate glorious food today…all in moderation…until we got to Grumpy’s and I ate my body weight in tater tots….ooops.

Love to you girlfriend. And love to those savory oats.

Caroline September 6, 2009 at 10:55 pm

Ah man, I was so close to buying the triple layer hummus on Sat…now I am regretting that decision!
I think would eat something at Sassy Cow, for the name alone.
Must try savory oats one of these days–why I am so afraid of them? Anyway, do you cook them in water or milk?

Whole Body Love September 6, 2009 at 10:56 pm

I love family recipes. I always feel a special connection when I use a recipe from my mom or grandma…especially when it’s something that has evolved over the years.

Katharina September 7, 2009 at 3:09 pm

Holla at the Edy’s slow-churned!

Savoury oats.. you know what? Your addition of zucchini made me want to try to make a zucchini bread flavored bowl of oats. I love going back home too! My parents have a selection of soooooo many freaking things. I often will steal some of their stuff, and the other day I was thinking about how I should’ve stolen that big ass bag of pecans. Soon… soon enough that bag will be mine mwahaha! Enjoy your Monday girlie ;)

Andrea@WellnessNotes September 7, 2009 at 3:34 pm

Looks like lots of fun! I see savory oats everywhere… I have to make some.

The ice cream sounds great. I need to find some high quality ice cream before the summer is completely gone…
