Summer, I bet you thought you had gotten rid of me with it turning September 22nd and all! Well you didn’t, so mother nature’s joke is on you. Because while it may officially be fall today, and I may be suffering from my first sinus infection of the season, I just couldn’t possibly make the leap into chilly October without just one last ode to your sunshiny warmth.

How nothing tastes better than an ice cold beer on a hot August day…

…not needing to wear bronzer…

…brightly-colored flowers that make the world seem just a bit happier…

…my wild trip to New Orleans in August for a bachelorette party that I didn’t blog about…

…being violated on the dance floor of a jazz bar…

…having a drunken man dressed up in a red dress attack my face in an attempt to make-out with me but instead, bite my lower lip, cause it to bleed and later call me a ‘heartless woman’ because I was talking to another guy (ummm, red dress man? I was unaware we were dating)…

…a pirate pub tour…

…being asked to model for a pirate calendar by the lovely people of Pirate’s Alley Cafe

…almost missing my flight on the way to NOLA and spending 28 hours – including an overnight stay in Detroit, run-in with Air Force One and a vow to never fly Delta Airlines again – getting back to WI…

…weddings…

…more weddings…

…more weddings in gorgeous Northern Wisconsin…

…boating on the lake without a cloud in the sky…

…not working out for two whole months (minus a stray yoga class here + there)…

..cheeseburgers right off the grill topped with mustard, sauerkraut, pickles, tomato & onion…

Paul Bunyan’s Cook Shanty

…looking up + seeing millions more sparkling stars than you see in the city…

…breathing in warm, salty lake air…

…breathing in the moment…

…breathing…

…I like breathing…

…and savoring the last moments of summer before pulling out the boots, tights and sweaters in preparation for cooler temperatures, the return of canned Libby’s pumpkin, hot apple cider, cinnamon candles, haunted houses, a trip to Europe and the possibility of stalking Pippa Middleton when I arrive in London in 39 days.

Fall may be my favorite season, but oh summer, how I’ll miss you.

What was YOUR favorite memory of this summer? Mine was either seeing one of my high school friend’s get married, Madeline’s visit to Wisconsin or the bachelorette weekend in New Orleans!
