The day marking the 25th year of my birth started out with a lil’ bit of this…
1/3 cup oats
1/3 cup organic skim milk + 1/3 cup water
pinch of salt
1 tbsp. shredded cranberry chipotle cheddar cheese
sprinkle of more cheese + salt
That would also be a morning cup of coffee with the new maker. I am in love.
I wish I could say I felt infinitely more intelligent and wiser upon waking this morning, but alas, I felt like my normal self (a.k.a. the maturity level of an 8th grader). Seeming as I had mondo blog reading to do, I did it at work. Yep, I figured if out of any day I could rationalize getting paid while not actually earning my paycheck, it would be my birthday.
Lunch was a huge 2nd floor potluck, which went unphotographed, because I did not want to field questions should the 50+ people in the room catch me mid-shot.
However, dessert (well, more dessert) was chocolate cupcakes my lovely co-worker Natalie baked in honor of my first quarter century on Earth…
I had two – one with pink frosting and one with teal.
Mid-afternoon, I took a 10-minute nap which I am blaming on the obscene amount of sugar eaten at lunch and post-lunch. Major. Sugar. Coma.
When I arrived home, I found THREE packages with my name on it.
From the beautiful Gliding Calm, who sent me some lovely chocolates in a figure skating-covered box (awesome)…
Heather (formerly known as Be Well and Take Care) also burned me the Glee CDs, which means I have three copies of Volume #1 and two copies of Volume #2. Have no fear – all extra copies will find lovely + appreciative homes :)…
And the lovely April sent me some baked goods – including banana bread, M&M oatmeal date cookies + a dark chocolate brownie mix…
I’ve said it before, and I will say it again: I am a lucky, lucky gal. Thank you ladies!
Then it was time.
Time for what, you ask?
Time for CHUCK E. CHEESE!!!!
Where every kid one is a winner, because nowadays kids don’t know how to lose. And I hate to lose. So, it’s all good.
Because you are never too old, you know we were all up in that gaming action.
And let’s be real, you are never too old for pizza + pop.
And well, you are never too old to hang out with friends either.
Grabbing your balls and going for the win? Never. Too. Old.
One thing you are never too old or too young or too anything for: being hugged by creepy, fake animals you are afraid are going to feel you up at any moment.
But one thing you can be too YOUNG for: Better Than Sex Cake.
I guess being 25 years old does have its advantages ;).
