onward and upward

There is only one way to go after suffering from a life setback.

It’s onward and upward.

Thank you so much for your sweet comments on my last post! I am still not sure if I will get to keep my job or not, but I am hoping with every ounce of my Everythingtarian heart and appreciate all your good vibes. Luckily, I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, so I am just going to impatiently wait and see where life takes me next.

But let’s not dwell on my job sitch, mmmkay?

Let’s go onward, upward and onto my third and final product review of Schwan’s new Chef Jet Asian cuisine line

In case you missed it, I reviewed the Chicken Lo Mein and Salmon Teriyaki first before finally getting to the Cantonese Steamed Cod with Ginger and Soy.

So far, my only major gripe has been the sodium levels in these products. I mean, as much as I like to look three months pregnant after eating a meal, I’d just rather not in case Jake Gyllenhaal is nearby and ready to propose marriage to me or something.

The sodium on this is actually on the lower side of the products I’ve reviewed thus far…

Despite its talented ability to cause extreme bloating, I have to say it was my favorite dish out of all the ones I’ve tried. It was light, fresh and incredibly satisfying. The subtle hints of ginger and fish sauce melded perfectly with the cod, broccoli and rice.

Twas’ quite lovely.

Topped off with two handfuls of my favorite candy, Bit O’ Honeys (another reason why you should call me G’ma Everythingtarian), this made for a delectably delicious dinner.

Tomorrow morning, I am heading off to San Francisco for the weekend to attend the 2nd Annual Foodbuzz Blogger Festival, where I am going to be surrounded by hundreds of people who love blogging about food as much as I do. Trust me, it’s gonna be a raging good time. How can you not have a good time when all you have to worry about for three days is consuming as much food as you can in one of the U.S.’s top foodie-friendly cities?

In honor of the occasion, I thought it only proper to spiffy up my newly-grown nails

That would be You Don’t Know Jacques from OPI.

On my way home from the nail salon with a belly full of food court Chinese food (a good idea in theory but not in practice), I received my invitation to my sister’s wedding. As if getting proposed to by a male nail technician who speaks minimal English, eating mall Chinese food by yourself and possibly losing your job doesn’t make for a sad week already, a wedding invite with an open-ended guest policy will definitely seal that deal.

Yes, that says possible guest.

And yes, my sister thinks she’s funny.

In my personal opinion, I think she’s trying to rub my status as 25 and single in my face. Just to spite her, I may bring a random male stripper or something to her wedding. Revenge is a biatch, Katie.

Until we meet again in San Fran, check these links out…

Onward, upward and off to San Francisco!

You are one of many 25 and single, not to mention fabulous. And yes, your sister is funny. Thank you for a great read- and I am so glad my friend recommended your site.

Holly, I will say a little prayer for you and your work situation. You’re right, everything happens for a reason and we can trust that god is in control even when it doesn’t feel like it or look like it.
Anyways, I hope you have a great trip and I look forward to seeing your posts from the event!

For this line, I love you. Your ability to laugh at and make fun of yourself will take you far. You know this already, though. Keep on keepin’ on, enjoy the weekend, and deal with job realities after you get back. Live it up in San Fran, okay?

25 and single ain’t nothing. Single is the new married, didn’t you know that? (That’s because I just made it up…shhhh)

I won’t dwell on it, but i was so upset to hear that things didn’t exactly go your way (or a lot of other people that you work with apparently)! You are obviously meant for great things, which is pretty evident and shines through your blog like crazy! I wouldn’t be too worried if i were you, i bet something will come along when you are least expecting it (i know this is cliche, but with you i truly believe you are going to stumble upon something you absolutely love and find tremendous success!) I wish i could have somehow graduated earlier / payed more attention to becoming part of foodbuzz and blogging more. Your trip sounds like a ton of fun, enjoy it! :) And if you decide to forgo the male stripper idea and want to spite your sis by bringing a 22 year old fitness trainer, pretty sure i know a dude who is always up for a wedding ;)

Oh, sisters. Hey, at least she gave you a +1! I was invited to a wedding this summer and I didn’t get one…and the couple had met my boyfriend! Cripes. Have so much fun on the west coast! I’ll be here enjoying the cold midwest weather for you, don’t worry.

Have a great time at Foodbuzz!!!!

Megan November 5, 2010 at 3:51 pm

Have you heard of Shellac nail polish? I hadn’t until last weekend. I’m big on painting my nails and then falling asleep and smudging them all over my pillow. Select nail salons (a few in Mad-town) have it. It’s a UV nail polish that stays perfect for 14 days and dries in like 5 min. No smudges. I couldn’t believe it. Definitely a great nail biting deterrant. My friend Sara and I had it done last weekend and so far so good!

BroccoliHut November 5, 2010 at 4:47 pm

Have fun this weekend–wish I were going so I could meet you!

Mallory November 5, 2010 at 7:12 pm
