OUR year

by Holly on December 31, 2010

in goals,holidays

I’ve decided that 2011 is going to be OUR year.

But not before I add one more goal to my list of things I will do in 2011.

I am not going to de-aril a whole pomegranate for the next 365 days.

Extra paper towels, surface cleaner, detergent and hand soap to remove stubborn pinkish-red stains are simply not in the budget.

Stay safe, have massive amounts of fun tonight and see you next year!

yeah. i think the extra $ to buy the pom arils already out is worth it. HAPPY NEW YEAR LOVE BUCKET!

Jess December 31, 2010 at 7:54 pm

Pomegranates are SO annoying to try and “de-seed.”

Happy new yearrrrr!!

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) December 31, 2010 at 7:56 pm

Lol on this one!

Stay safe, be happy, have fun..not just tonight, but all year :)

Hi Holly! Guess what? You too can de-aril a pomegranate MESS FREE, I promise! Check out my method outlined here:

Hate de-aril’ing poms!

Abby December 31, 2010 at 8:44 pm

I’ve never even had an inkling to de-aril anything, so maybe that can be my resolution as well. I feel very confident that 2011 will be de-aril free!

Happy New Year, Holly!

Mama Pea December 31, 2010 at 8:54 pm

It is OUR year. Preach on, Sister.

Low December 31, 2010 at 9:29 pm

Ugh, I only de-aril them at work. Yeah, kind of rude…

2011 WILL be our year. LOVE YOU!

Happy New Year, love pom seeds, hate the dye they leave :)

Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine January 1, 2011 at 8:16 am

Have you ever tried the bowl trick? If you do it all in a big bowl of water there’s no stains and all the icky white parts float to the top while the arils stay at the bottom…

Happy 2011 lovely lady!!

The teenager used to love to de-aril pomegranates when he was younger. It was always such a mess, but I wanted to be a cool mom who let him do it. I’m pretty sure I got prematurely gray hair because of it. So the toddler has never even seen a whole pomegrante. Bad mom. I know. But oh well. Sometimes being the second child has some disadvantages (but not often )… :)

Wishing you a healthy & happy 2011, Holly!

julie January 1, 2011 at 1:13 pm

I have learned that preparing before opening the pomegranate is key. I am a HUGE fan of that fruit and fully enjoy eating them any time I can get my hands on a good one but the work takes practice. One girl did her’s in a bowl of water…very smart.

Happy New Year Holly!!! Look forward to following your blog through 2011!

I once watched someone open a pomegranate and decided then and there that nothing can taste good enough to make that process worth it. I don’t care if they are free and taste like the best chocolate in the world, not worth it.

Listen to this emo-esque, teen-licious ditty:

P.S. Makes great treadmill music.

Happy New Year!

Thanks so much for the recs! They are saved on my email!

As for the pomegranite…never has paying to labor been so crucial for my sanity as buying pre-cut pom arils.

Kailey (SnackFace) January 2, 2011 at 8:03 pm
