in breakfast,dinner,eating out,lunch,reviews,silliness

Last night, I fell asleep sitting up in bed, computer on my lap and in full work clothes with make-up.  At 9:00pm.

Then I woke up at 11:22pm, feeling crusty, dirty and feeling so comfortable I didn’t want to move.  So I didn’t. I happily slept until 6:30am this morning.  Gross? Yeah, kinda. Restful? You betcha.

Since I arose earlier than planned, I had time for a lovely bath and a lovely breakfast…Tropical Oatmeal!

1/2 cup oats
1/2 cup POM Kiwi juice + 1/2 cup skim milk
2 tbsp. unsweetened shredded coconut
1 sliced banana
7 Nature Valley Roasted Almond Nut Clusters

Verdict on the POM Kiwi juice? FANTABULOUS.  Especially if you love kiwi (which I do).

Snacktime involved a decorated Easter egg apple

Did you know Mighty Maple PB makes an excellent decorative finish?

Lunch was from one of my fave Madison cafes, Sunprint.  That would be a roasted vegetable + mozzarella panini and oven-roasted potatoes. And yes, it could have been toasted longer.

There were also definitely more potatoes before I ate them all on my walk back to the office.

Afternoon snacktime (the marathon metabolism is still kickin’!) was supposed to be yogurt, but instead, my lovely co-worker brought me 1/2 of a chocolate brownie.  I didn’t object.

Look at those chunks of nuts.

Wait for it…

…wait for it…

TWSS. Ah yes, you knew that was coming.

Since I fell asleep last night and didn’t get anything done (besides apply for another part-time job, *crossing fingers*), I have to skip yoga tonight to get it all done.  The sacrifices I make.

What I don’t sacrifice for? Food.

Those would be Dominex eggplant vegetarian meatballs dipped in lots of BBQ sauce alongside broccoli also dipped in lots of BBQ sauce.  A snackplate a certain Snackface would be proud of.

And a new yog mess inspired by Angharad

1 cup Stonyfield Lowfat Vanilla yog
1/3 cup sweet potato puree
cinnamon, cinnamon + cinnamon
1/2 sliced naner
voluptuous drizzle of PB

I didn’t hate it.

Off to be productive!  I would tell you what I am going to do, but everytime I do that, I never get anything done.  So instead, I am just going to do it, then I can brag tomorrow about how efficient I was.  How does that sound?

If it sounds horrid, I updated my About Me page as well as received the Kreativ Blogger award from this gal (I think I got it from some others too – let me know if you did!  I am horrible at keeping track of these thangs!)

Apparently, I need to tell you 7 things you don’t know about me.

  • My parents’ names are Barbie and Ken.  (Yes, as in the dolls.)
  • I am a descendant of Princess Diana’s family.  (This was probably obvious seeming as we look so much alike.)
  • One of my pet peeves is big globs of ketchup.  (It grosses me out.)
  • My dream job is to host my own show on the Travel Channel.  (Discovery – CALL ME!!!!)
  • I didn’t talk until I was 4 years old. (Shocking, I know.)
  • I am obsessed with ballet flats. (Which stems from a childhood embarrassment of always being tall.)
  • In my former life, I am convinced I was a Russian ballerina.  (Don’t ask.)

If that’s not enough, look at this awesome picture I took of my co-worker trying to hammer with our boss’ vase of fake flowers…

Twas’ hilarious.

Alright, this post has reached MONDO status.  Am I trying to procrastinate from doing real work much?

If you so are interested, I am thinking of doing a Q&A.  Send me your burning questions about your neighborhood Healthy Everythingtarian in the comments section if you so choose.

Speak now or forever hold your peace!

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) October 8, 2009 at 6:10 pm

First comment, boy I am lucky today :)

I made Tropical Oats and posted it yesterday. Great minds think alike!

Glad to hear you’re on the mend.

And that brownie…can I have a bite ? :)

Sarah @ The Foodie Diaries October 8, 2009 at 6:14 pm

Ugh I NEED a Travel Channel show! Discovery, if you read this, CALL ME, TOO! Hahaha, wishful thinking.

I’m mildly in love with the fact that your parents’ names are Barbie and Ken.

Jenna October 8, 2009 at 6:25 pm

first of all i must say your pics are incredible, i love your bowl it is super cute!
your tropical oatmeal looks yummy, so creative. and i can’t wait to try POM juice.
eggplant vegetarian meatballs looks delish!
and OMG that yogurt mess, words can’t even describe how incredible that looks!

Evan Thomas October 8, 2009 at 6:29 pm

I’m super jealous now. Not for any of your eats, but for getting to bed at 9. I would do that tonight, except then I’d miss the big Office Wedding(!!) and I clearly have to have priorities.

Maggie October 8, 2009 at 6:34 pm

I used to crash like that all the time – now, not so much. I almost miss waking up in the middle of the night all crusty on my couch with my computer.

I am gonna have to be careful about the big ole globs of ketchup I put on my squash fries. Maybe I will take pictures pre-glob for you :D

Mmm mighty maple.

Marisa (Trim The Fat) October 8, 2009 at 6:35 pm

I love those Dominex Eggplant Meatballs! They are so delicious; I like to make a meatball sub with them topped with marinara and mozzarella!

Whit October 8, 2009 at 6:36 pm

OMG, I am about to pee my pants at that pic of your coworker! :D

Kathleen October 8, 2009 at 6:45 pm

Question: What marathon training plan did you use? Any tips for actual marathon day?

Yo thats a BRILLIANT method of eating an apple. Might have to steal that idea..

K October 8, 2009 at 6:50 pm

Ready for the most obnoxious comment on the blogs?

That apple? So fun.
That sando? So yum.
That brownie? So amaze.
That photo? SO HILAR!

Grab your tissues – ten minutes ’til our hubby weds (well an hour and ten for you ;) )!

Jenna October 8, 2009 at 6:59 pm

That apple w/ pb is so adorable!

The brownie looks semi like a killer brownie from Lunds and Byerly’s which are pretty much lethally dangerous they are so good.

Allison (Eat Clean Live Green) October 8, 2009 at 7:08 pm

Love the Easter egg apple! I’d love to know how you got into running/how long you’ve been running :)

Rosey Rebecca October 8, 2009 at 7:32 pm

I think everybody should decorate apples like that. This post is awesome!! Love your co-worker hammering with the vase!

Maya October 8, 2009 at 7:33 pm

Is the sweet potato puree something you make yourself? Or can you find it canned? I’d love to use it (for yogurt, oatmeal etc), so I’d like to know!

April October 8, 2009 at 7:45 pm

Are your parents really named Barbie and Ken??

I’m loving that yogurt mess! I need to find canned sweet potato.. what section is it in?

And I’ve definitely slept in my clothes before. In fact sometimes I’m too lazy to get up to pee.. probably TMI but whatever! Lets just say I have to go super bad in the morning!

Matt October 8, 2009 at 7:46 pm

Haha. Nice pic of the coworker!

Jess October 8, 2009 at 7:47 pm

J @Whole Body Love October 9, 2009 at 12:11 am

Love the decorated apple! Your parents’ names…really?

sophia October 9, 2009 at 1:20 am

Holy cow, you sure got some amazing eats! Haha, I love how you even decorate a simple apple like that to make it look so freaking cool!

Question for your Q &A: What is one fruit/veggies you absolutely would NOT eat?

And what is the weirdest or freakiest stuff you’ve ever eaten?

Gab* October 9, 2009 at 4:27 am

I can’t believe you fell asleep in your clothes (and weren’t drunk!!) – you must be so tired! The apple looks so cute.

Taylor@Joy of Food October 9, 2009 at 5:12 am

Those meatballs look amazing. I’m off to check out your About me page now :)

Emily (The Experimentarian) October 9, 2009 at 6:14 am

Those eggplant “meatballs” look tres interesting! Where or where did you find them? (If it’s not whole foods, I am out of luck!) Soy-free?

Courtney F October 9, 2009 at 6:20 am

How in the world did you manage to go about eating that egg…..I mean apple. I would’ve gotten PB goodness all over my face!

Kristin @ Iowa Girl Eats October 9, 2009 at 7:31 am

THAT APPLE!!! Love it!! Hope you have a faaaaab weekend lined up :)

Low October 9, 2009 at 7:47 am

LO-HOVE that apple! I’m picturing you eating it now with pb all over the place. Love that even more, haha.

Figures that you’re a descendant of princess Di, you just have that air of royalty about you ;)

Question: What food/foods do you dislike? Seems like you’re a pretty open-minded eater – but you’ve gotta hate something?!

Angharad October 9, 2009 at 8:16 am

Hurray for me-inspired yog messes! And hurray for your tropical oats! Do you know that I still have that bottle of POM you gave me about 18 months ago? True story. I’m waiting for the perfect time to use it. Or, I’m forgetful.
I like that you fell asleep at 9 in your clothes. Waking up at 6 and having a bath is NOT a bad way to start the day in my opinion! Love you lady! Have an ace day! xxx

Madeline @ GreensAndJeans October 9, 2009 at 8:31 am

That picture of your coworker reminded me of when my friend Kellyn brought over a bottle of wine as a housewarming gift and we couldn’t find my corkscrew so we used a screw from one of my new IKEA bookshelves and a pair of pliers to get the cork out.

Erica October 9, 2009 at 8:33 am

Why hello there! I am loving your easter egg apple that cracked me up. What a great panini- I’m all for anything involving veggies and moz cheese.

I think its so awesome that your parents names are Barbie and Ken…did they ever dress up as them for halloween? They totally should have.

I want to know what 5 foods you couldn’t do without, what your favorite meal to COOK is, what your favorite meal to EAT is

Dawn (HealthySDLiving) October 9, 2009 at 8:46 am

Those meatballs looks delicious and I’m loving the apple decor! :)

brandi October 9, 2009 at 9:24 am

I love that you fell asleep like that :)

If you could live anywhere for the rest of your life, where would it be?

Favorite animal?

Peanut Butter Bliss October 9, 2009 at 9:40 am

haha I love how you smeared the nut butter on the apple! I have to admit I have done that before.

mmm that roasted veggie sammie looks fantastic

Priyanka October 9, 2009 at 10:08 am

I am stealing that PB decorated apple.

Morgan @ Life After Bagels October 9, 2009 at 11:33 am

I love that photo to BITS!

Jessica @ How Sweet It Is October 9, 2009 at 11:53 am

Mmmm I want some tropical oats NOW!

Megan (The Runner's Kitchen) October 9, 2009 at 1:07 pm

Are you really a descendant of Princess Diana??? I was obsessed with her (and Prince William) back in middle school…

Love the brownie. Definitely a deserved post-marathon treat :-) Is it from Au Bon Pain, by any chance?

janetha October 9, 2009 at 2:16 pm

ahhh i HATE falling asleep in my clothes. i get real bad anxiety when i wake up. i think i am getting anxiety just thinking about it! your easter apple is so artsy! love. good luck with the PTJ! i cant believe you didnt talk until you were 4. maybe that is why you had so much to say in this post? ;)

Faith October 9, 2009 at 2:23 pm

Wow, I’m definitely going to look for those eggplant meatballs…yum! I can’t belive you’re a descendant of Princess Di’s family, how cool! Happy Friday!

Katie October 9, 2009 at 2:35 pm

I love that decorative easter apple! But what I love MORE is reading your 7 things and laughing at the picture of the flower vase hammer. Hilarious. Totally made my Friday. :-) Have a good one, Girl.

Susan October 9, 2009 at 3:29 pm

Funny, I was wishing for Easter the other day… Obviously, I needed to just have a decorative Easter apple!!

I’m obsessed with ballet flats too! I’m only 5’7″ but I’m convinced any sort of heel turns me into a giant.

emily (a nutritionist eats) October 9, 2009 at 3:35 pm

where did you find eggplant meatballs?!?!?! i want some!

Jenny October 9, 2009 at 4:16 pm

did you eat that bowl of oats under a palm tree with your toes in the sand? if not you totessss shouldve. If only… if only..

I hate you for your PB art skills .. hate you in the sense that I wish I had ’em! teach me your wayyyys.

love love love you! xo

Kristie October 9, 2009 at 6:06 pm

Wait, did you actually just decorate an apple with a peanut butter design?! Forget Russian ballerina, I think you were Einstein in another life. Or maybe some really famous deceased culinary genius would be more appropriate?

I know I’m ridiculous and way behind the game but I think this is the first time I’ve ever read your blog. I dig. A little too much. I have to know though, your parents are SERIOUSLY named Barbie and Ken? And you’re SERIOUSLY a descendant of Princess Di? Or just a big time jokester? If those are true then you’re pretty much my new idol.

Special K October 9, 2009 at 10:46 pm

You have such a creative spirit and I am super impressed by your photos…
Maple Peanut Butter? Hmmm….I had a mariyln’s butter with fennel last month and it was AMAZING. Try out NUTTZO!
