in dinner,giveaway,randomness

I can’t talk right now.

It’s not because my loud mouth doesn’t want to.

It does.

It really, really, REALLY does.

But there’s too many thoughts jamming up my Everythingtarian head. My synapses don’t want to fire. My neurons are impossible to make connect. My brain’s using every ounce of nutritional value in the huge junk salad I fed it for dinner not to just type sldfslajdinsdfsd through this entire post.

2 cups mixed greens
1/2 cup sliced yellow bell pepper
1/2 roma tomato, diced
1/2 avocado, diced
1 Mexican Black Bean Burger
1/2 cup mashed sweet potatoes
sprinkle of nooch
1/3 cup salsa

Life. I don’t have time to do more. I can’t afford to do less. But something somewhere in my life has got to give, has got to break. This really gets to my overthinking Sagittarian brain.

And when it does, nacho cheese soy crisps + Trilogy GT Kombucha help just a bit. That and watching Tim Riggins in episode after episode of Friday Night Lights.

I mean, do you ever just feel like a small little wheatberry in a big ol’ pile of wheatberries?

{see me? I’m the wheatberry in the upper right corner tucked below the 312 other wheatberries}

I told you I have a lot of my mind.

Based on’s choosing, the winner of the Tropical Traditions coconut oil giveaway is comment #13 from Rosie, who said, “first thing i would do? SWEET POTATOES OR KABOCHA WITH COCONUT!” Congrats! Send your name + address to, and we’ll get that right out to you.

Sending you positive vibes. If you need to bitch and let it out, just holler.

Amanda (Eating Up) February 2, 2011 at 9:43 pm

Friday Night Lights is my FAVORITE show. Ah, I love Tim Riggins!

Ashley @ 365 things February 2, 2011 at 10:08 pm

oh you poor thing! lol I feel your pain. Sometimes it’s sooo hard to slow down. I bet a couple of beers might help a little. :)

Kaleigh February 2, 2011 at 10:37 pm

I know EXACTLY what you mean! And I am completely obsessed with that kombucha too! Do you drink it all at once? I’ve only had it a couple times and the girl at the store told me not to drink it all at once.

Christine @ Merf In Progress February 2, 2011 at 10:38 pm

I’ve been searching everywhere for that kombucha and can’t find it. UGH!

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) February 2, 2011 at 10:39 pm

“Life. I don’t have time to do more. I can’t afford to do less. But something somewhere in my life has got to give, has got to break.”–

Sorry that things are….this chaotic.
My life is the SAME! FT Job, husband, child, supporting the family…I totally understand Holly. Totally.

Hang in there! :)

Katie February 2, 2011 at 10:51 pm

Sounds like you are doing exactly what you need to do. Good night!

Adam February 2, 2011 at 11:11 pm

You need to vent? I would rec doing what I do when my brain is jumbled but I am guessing that singing Outkast at the top of your lungs doesn’t work for everyone… If you need someone to talk to, I like to think I am a pretty darn good listener… except for when I simply do not care. But I assure you, that only seems to happen every once and awhile ;)

dana @ my little celebration February 2, 2011 at 11:41 pm

I don’t know what’s on your mind, but if I had that for dinner too I’d probably have trouble forming my words as well. Because it, looks, AMAZING.

I’ve been looking for a good, simple veggie burger recipe and I think this might just be it. Can’t wait to give it a try. Thanks friend!

Lauren February 3, 2011 at 5:40 am

Hope you are able to relax and clear your thoughts. You know what usually helps me? Coconut cookie dough ice cream. It’s a natural cure. Try this, please! :)

Amber February 3, 2011 at 6:21 am

Sometimes I feel like the wheatberry that fell on the floor and was stepped on from the pile of wheatberries.

Eliz@The Sweet Life February 3, 2011 at 6:46 am

Hang in there-deep breaths!

rebecca lustig February 3, 2011 at 7:17 am

hopefully you were able to find some peace in that delicious dinner….

your light box is the COOLEST. and that black bean burger is calling my nameee <3

Stephanie @ Thorns Have Roses February 3, 2011 at 11:21 am

Brush that crap off your shoulder and perk up buttercup! I love it when you’re loud (I mean..I can’t *hear* it…I can just *feel* it) it makes me feel sane with my own out loudness. ;)

Kristie February 3, 2011 at 12:11 pm

Breeeeeeathe. And scream into a pillow. It helps sometimes too ;)
It’ll be okay!

Sarah February 3, 2011 at 12:14 pm

I totally get that. Sometimes I DO feel like one little wheatberry in a sea of wheatberries.
It’s hard to write what that really feels like/ what to do in words. But keep writing if you can. Your readers care about you. It’s ok to vent and sort life out here.

Erica D @ Gratitouille February 3, 2011 at 12:55 pm

Every time I get really stressed out, I think of this song and end up at least feeling romantic about it:

Katie February 3, 2011 at 12:58 pm

Oh Holly, I feel ya! I wrote a post last year about the EXACT same feeling, I actually think it was called “something’s gotta give” – and you know what? I don’t know if it was a mental switch or of I just got better at managing my life – but a year later, I feel absolutely nothing like that. Maybe something “gave” – but I didn’t notice, and my life is better and calmer and I feel more in control. Here’s wishing you find the same! Big hugs.

emily (a nutritionist eats) February 3, 2011 at 1:37 pm

Exactly how I have been feeling! Breathe Girl!

Madeline - Greens and Jeans February 3, 2011 at 4:44 pm

Tim Riggins makes EVERYTHING better. Especially shirtless in cowboy boots.

Diana @ frontyardfoodie February 3, 2011 at 10:25 pm

TAKE A BREAK. You know, a couple vacation days, with hot chocolate, Sex and the City and a shitload of potato chips!

Ashley February 4, 2011 at 7:57 am

Hang in there, hot stuff! Cut yourself some slack….take a long bath, get a good nights sleep, and have a large glass of wine/pint of beer :-)

cailen February 4, 2011 at 1:50 pm

that looks so good! i LOVE black bean burgers (i actually made black bean bakes not too long ago but i must say your burger looks better…)

i’m in the beginning stages of collecting healthy recipes for a new cookbook venture “Vegetables & Vodka”. i’m including many healthy, veggie-based dinner recipes (and low-cal cocktail recipes) – would you be interested in contributing?

if so, email me at or message me via my blog : ) if you have any foodie blogger recommendations about who i should contact, that would be great too!

happy weekend!

Lorna February 4, 2011 at 3:44 pm

Accckkk, thanks woman, now I’m craving a kombucha (guava goddess) too! That Mexican black been burger looks to die for, btw. Must go prowl kitchen now….

Jess February 4, 2011 at 7:41 pm

Mmmm, this post made me especially HANGRY!!

Eden February 5, 2011 at 12:44 am

I think this is one of my favorite posts. It has honesty written all over it…along with l;sagljsglja

Mackenzie @ Whatever, Gatsby February 5, 2011 at 8:37 am

oh darlin, i can totally relate. for me, this is when i really have to plan something exciting. something that doesn’t have to cost money or take up time. or maybe it does, but put it in the future to look forward to. a little quick trip to target (dollar section woo!) or a pedicure, or a wet doggy kiss. or a good movie at the dollar theatre. stuff like that. i hope you feel better soon, soul sister. you got this <3

Christine February 6, 2011 at 6:22 pm

Just discovered Friday Night Lights a month ago, and I’ve been staying up way too late watching Tim Riggins on Netflix ever since.
