So, after The Cumin Situation of yore, yours truly made it safe and sound back to Minnesota without any further mishaps. When I arrived in the land of 10,000 lakes, I promptly hit the hay in preparation for The 20-Mile Run.
Before I start, I need to thank you ALL for ALL your well wishes and positive thoughts on the run – you seriously helped pull me through!
To fill you in on my marathon training, this was/is the longest run before the big marathon day (which is exactly 3 weeks from today! Eeek!). In preparation, I Map My Runned the route for the first 12 miles, then my girl Angharad mapped out the last 8 miles for us to run together. She is the best, seriously.
Soooo…how did it go you ask? Well, a little something like this…
I felt awesome and in the zone almost the whole time. Even some hills near the end couldn’t get me down (mostly because Angharad picked me up. I would not have made it through without her :)).
However, it was 1:30pm when we got back to her house. Something didn’t quite make sense…I left at 9:10am which would have calculated out to 4 hours and 20 minutes for the 20 miles, for about 12:00/mile. Now, I’ve been training at a 10:00/mile pace and usually don’t go much above this. I know Angharad and I walked a mile or so back to her house, which shaves off 20 minutes, but it still didn’t make sense…
But the wedding was at 2:30pm, so I really didn’t have time to think about it. I raced back to my friend’s, showered and showed up 5 minutes late to the wedding looking like a drowned rat.
Conclusion of the story shall commence after the wedding photos below…
I am a sucker for a good first dance photo :).
The picture above was clearly the best picture I took all night. You will also have to excuse my tomato face, which is what you get when the sunscreen melts off your face from sweating buckets during your run.
The wedding was fun – Megan and I a.k.a. “The Two Grandmas” left the wedding at about 9:45pm. I had the run, she had been up since 3am. We left before all of our friend’s parents (awesome), and you know what? We liked it that way.
Back at Meggy Moo’s casa, I had to go back on Map My Run and check this route out again. Something was not right.
Final Route Mileage: 22.24 miles
Final Pace Time: About 10:00/mile
Moral of this story? Listen to your gut! I ran more than 22 miles, and you know what? I am 10X LESS scared for the marathon! However, I wish I had known this because then I most definitely would have had a second slice of cake, haha!
This morning, Megan, Ashley and I grabbed brekkie then took a nice 5K (3.2 miles) walk around the lake…
Medium nonfat latte + Spinach Cheddar Omelet on a whole wheat bagel
Then, I visited my Grandpa and hit the road back to WI…
Car snackage – Newman’s Spelt Pretzels, KIND Walnut Date Bar, Naner + Braeburn Apple
A trip to the co-op was most def in order because my kitchen was barren. These were my two best finds of the day…
One of these were morphed into this…
bed of organic spinach
1 chopped carrot
2 chopped Roma tomatoes
1/4 cup diced onion
1 crumbled Barbecue Sunshine patty
drizzle of Trader Joe’s BBQ sauce (spicayyyy!)
FSTG Potato Chive Chips
Stonyfield Oikos Plain Greek yog
1/4 cup Dylan’s Sunflower Almond Chia granola
1 packet Justin’s Maple Almond Butter
drizzle of maple syrup
Excuse my language, but this was the shit. The good kind of shit. Okay, so that didn’t come out right…
Justin’s Maple Nut Butter? Goooood. Dylan’s Chia Granola? Goooood. Yog mess overall? The shit.
Alright kiddos, that about wraps it up from Everythingtarianville. This gal needs to go on a cleaning spree of the flat and then catch-up on her life (and with all you who have blogs!). However, to help me along, I DEMAND (yes, demand!) you all answer me this really deep question:
If you had to choose one color to wear the rest of your life (and ONLY that color), what color would it be? Call me depressing, call me boring or call me classic – but I choose to wear black!
