No, Jake Gyllenhaal didn’t propose a lifetime of eternal, undying love to me…yet.
And no, the Travel Channel still hasn’t called about hosting that show. Damn you Samantha “I-get-paid-to-travel-the-world-and-attempt-to-be-funny” Brown.
So, what could this exciting bit of news be?
Well, I made a new killer recipe for starters…
But that still wasn’t the best news. And I would share this delectable egg dish with you, but it’s part of a top secret project I’m contributing on. Nobody likes a tattle.
But trust me when I say, everybody loves some spinach, sundried tomato and goat cheese.
I bought some delicious, crunchy red grapes!
Nope. Not the best news ever.
Could it have been a delicious tupperware concoction of Saturday’s leftovers of the brown rice, braised cabbage and honey sesame tofu variety?
No, no and no. In fact, I realized cabbage (ahem, Brassica oleracea Linne) gives me horrendous stomach pains, nausea and the acid reflux of a 55-year-old, 300-pound man who just downed 12 chili dogs, a 1-liter of Coke and several whipped cream cherry pies at a cutthroat eating contest.
Why was I in so much pain post-run on Saturday? The cabbage. Why did I want to keel over on the dirty carpeting of my office several times today? The cabbage. Needless to say, I don’t think that’s a coincidence, so I’m laying off that cruciferous vegetable for awhile.
These both made me feel better…
…and that was good news, but definitely not the BEST news.
Brett + I ran NINE MILES tonight, setting a new distance PR for him! While I am so proud of this amazing feat no doubt, it’s still not the best news ever.
Neither was this smoothie…
1/2 cup organic skim milk
1/2 cup frozen raspberries
1 T vanilla brown rice protein powder
And neither is me posting this picture for the entire World Wide Web to see. I pray no creepers read my blog and use that as their new desktop background, more for their sake than my own.
Sometimes, I seriously wonder what goes through my head.
While an impromptu trip to Whole Foods with my girl Ilsa certainly brightened my evening, along with buying an overpriced copy of Food + Wine’s new Travel Issue, kombucha (mango, per this gal’s advice), Larabar and bag of Newman’s spelt pretzels (zee best!)…
It still wasn’t it.
However, Whole Foods was where I received my BEST news.
Are you ready to find out what it is?
Are you sure?
Do you want me to stop asking you pointless, redundant questions?
Well, do ya?
The Best News is this…
OUR WELL IN CAMBODIA IS OFFICIALLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION (!!!)
For any new readers or to refresh your memory, instead of asking for gifts for Christmas last year, I asked for donations to help build a clean water drinking well in Cambodia. After having the amazing chance to travel there, I saw first-hand just how many people lack basic access to this necessity (2/3 of Cambodians to be exact).
I hoped to raise $1000 (which covered the cost of everything) – thinking I would perhaps get around $500 in donations and take care of the rest myself. Between family, friends and Everythingtarian readers, we raised $1,145 for the materials, construction and labor of a new clean water drinking well.
And here it is.
While it isn’t finished, and I don’t have specific details on everything yet…it truly IS the best news.
