this week i…*

by Holly on May 15, 2011

in dinner,randomness,silliness,weekend

(1) Spent good quality time with my girlfriends. Dinner parties. Brunch. Bridesmaids. Dancing. It was all very Sex and the City of us.

(2) Devised get-rich-quick schemes so I can attend both my best friend’s wedding in London AND my other friend’s wedding in Nairobi, Kenya this year.

Yes, I realize my friends are really cool.

(3) Wondered why I don’t eat more fish. This pan-seared tilapia {breaded in Italian panko crumbs + parmesan cheese} was dynamite.

(4) Ate lots of zucchini fries + jalapeño jack SunChips.

(5) Hung out with some seriously cute kids.

(6) Tried to ignore the fact I am pathetically behind on responding to blog emails, posting reviews for products I was sent months ago, writing guest posts for people that I promised them weeks ago, finishing the Travel page and writing well-thought-out blog posts.

However, I couldn’t ignore it so I made a blog schedule for the week.

Dweeb, I know.

(7) Am obsessed with Turquoise + Caicos Essie nail polish and completely not obsessed with the fact I had to wear tights out last night, because it was 41 degrees in May.

(8) Realized my life is seriously comedic. If I don’t have a best-selling memoir in 20 years to recount all the ridiculous things that happen to me on the regular {that, sorry, I can’t currently share on my blog}, I’m really gonna be pissed.

*inspired by my lovely friend Angharad

Fill in the blank: This week I _____________.

Holly, I’m starting to believe that you’re my bizarro twin. I also had dinner and saw Bridesmaids with my girlfriends, ate a boatload of SunChips, and am wearing Turquoise and Caicos on my fingers right now. Weird!

Katie May 15, 2011 at 1:53 pm

That little girl is so dang cute! I want to fluff her hair…and kiss the chubby little cheek. I also always wonder why I don’t eat more fish, it is always so good when I do.

This week I had a baby. :-)

My mom sponsors a child in Nairobi, Kenya! You make that budget of yours work!

This week i… had too much to do and way too little time to complete it.

Alex @ IEatAsphalt May 15, 2011 at 2:34 pm

Returned to Philly for the first time since moving, went back to my old house (still vacant), reunited with best friends, and didn’t even cry on the way back.

This weekend I stayed out until 2 dancing and was introduced to someone I think I might like. Why don’t weekends like this happen more often?

Lauren http://theclimbingchef.blogspot.com/ May 15, 2011 at 2:42 pm

This week I was very productive with preparing for my return back to school! This week I also spent a lot of quality time with my dog :) She is the sweetest, even if you don’t like dogs, you’d love her :)

Sounds like you had a great week even if it was a bit crazy! Hang in there my dear :)

xoxoxo

I’m sorry, I have no idea what I did this weekend because I can’t stop looking at the child in this post. I want her. She is the very vision I have always had for my daughter. I’m serious.

This week I hung out with the boys and remembered why sometimes they’re my preferred company… but not always.

Also, Nairobi is *meh* but Kenya in general is amazing (really, anywhere in Africa is pretty awesome). If you can only go to one wedding, it should be that one (and make a decent holiday out of it).

This week I celebrated my 23rd ! wee! Ah your friends are getting married in such cool places! I am considering starting weekend bake sales to fund my travels.

Averie (LoveVeggiesandYoga) May 15, 2011 at 3:19 pm

This week I: became a contributor on the website of the guy who won Top Chef Masters, I celebrated my 10th wedding anniversary, I came to Aruba (here now), and I got published in Women’s Health Mag.

Not all weeks are like this.

In fact, none are! But since you asked :)

I love that you’re going to London & Kenya! And I love the zucchini fries + jalapeño jack SunChips. Nice

Have a great week Holly!

I eat fish a lot, but I don’t know why I never make it. Mark Bittman had an article in the NYTimes magazine about a month ago about 12 ways to cook fish and it was fabulous. I tore it out, and will get around to it… some day…

Adam Deane May 15, 2011 at 3:19 pm

I would definitely read a HealthyE memoir… You never know, you could already be a best-selling author for 15 years by then! I bet you will. This weekend I may have landed a job that will mean I pick up my life and move 3000 miles in 3 weeks.

Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table May 15, 2011 at 3:22 pm

YOu have to most awesome weeks. I love reading about your comedy-life. :)

This week is didn’t rest for a minute. But I did go to FLA, work tons of hours, run a lot, cooked for a hosted a wedding shower, had a cookout, and played 2 ball games. Word.

Priyanka May 15, 2011 at 3:29 pm

I love snapshots of little kids like her eating something…they look so cute!

This week I ran my first 5K and I am so thrilled :)

Erica May 15, 2011 at 3:29 pm

Sounds like a good weekend to me :) I can’t wait to see Bridesmaids- that looks seriously hilarious. jalapeño jack SunChips? I must find these. This week I took a little time to myself- it was wonderful!

Mallory May 15, 2011 at 4:02 pm

got my master’s!!!!!!!!
but i wish i did it whilst wearing that nail polish. love.

…and *also* ate jalapeno jack sunchips. i need more jalapeno in my life… preferably fresh, in delicious mexican food, sitting next to a cold pacifico and/or margarita on the rocks. in temps that are above 52*F thankyouverymuch.

ps if you don’t have a memoir in 20 years i think a lot of people are gonna be really pissed :)

Mary @ Bites and Bliss May 15, 2011 at 4:08 pm

Soundslike you had a good week. :) Spending time with friends is always nice. And that;s exactly what’s on the agenda tonight! :)

VeggieGirl May 15, 2011 at 4:27 pm

This week I (well, last night I) wore all white when I usually wear all black. Check Facebook ;)

Gretchen May 15, 2011 at 6:39 pm

That tilapia looks really tasty! and I’m sure if you put some ridiculous anecdotes into a book, it’d be pretty great :)

This week I bought a new (actually fairly old) car after my old car got into a fight with an SUV last month and am sad that I no longer drive a stick shift for now, buuut I’m happy to have a functional car again so I’ll get over it.

grace b May 15, 2011 at 6:41 pm

a) Graduated from college

This week, I finally stopped just talking about it and started a food blog of my own.

Pure2raw twins May 15, 2011 at 8:04 pm

Adorable kid–aww!!

I wish I ate more fish, too!!

Evan [chocolateandchaturangas] May 15, 2011 at 8:51 pm

Sounds like an epic week, Holly! And I’m intrigued by your friends’ international weddings…maybe a daily lotto ticket habit will come in handy?

This week I ate at Ron’s House (McDonald’s) for the first time in 8 years, watched my little sister graduate college, and did the safety dance with a bunch of moms at a college bar. Hey, I’ll take it.

katie May 15, 2011 at 9:44 pm

Megan (Braise the Roof) May 16, 2011 at 1:45 pm

Wow, your friends ARE way cool. My friend is getting married in a corn field in the middle of Iowa this summer. That’s cool, too, right? ;) I’d buy a copy of your memoir- get on it!

Sarah@The Flying ONION May 16, 2011 at 4:24 pm

Your nails are lovely! And as much as I would also hate having to wear tights in the middle of May, I am totally digging your outfit. :D

This week I….ran my first half marathon! And still floating on a cloud about it.

Natalie May 17, 2011 at 3:12 pm

I…attended a breast cancer awareness function. So awesome!

Love your blog Holly. And your nail polish. And well, everything (no pun intended) =).
