Top 5: Current Obsessions

in top 5

I get obsessed with things easily.

Grilled cheese. Friday Night Lights. Kombucha. You name it, I’ve been obsessed with it.

In the vein of sharing is caring, here are five things I am L-O-V-I-N-G lately…

Gwyneth Paltrow. Let’s see…she’s gorgeous, an Academy Award winning actress, smart, funny, star of a food TV show, writer of a fantastically lovely newsletter called GOOP (check it out), guest star on Glee, loves food and has her own cookbook? Biatch. If it wasn’t for that decadent-looking Fudgy Chocolate Brownie (they’re vegan!) recipe in her book, I swear I’d hate her.

The dress I couldn’t afford but bought anyways. I found this gem of a sale (which was still *cough* more than $100 *cough*) at a random boutique in Appleton, WI (if you don’t know where that is, look here) and could not be more in love with the brown velvet draped top, tweed skirt and bright citron ribbon belt. Le sigh. It’s okay to wear velvet for a June wedding, right?

This cheeseburger. I can’t tell you much other than (a) this perfectly sweet + spicy burger was concocted for a freelance project and (b) the recipe is coming soon. Very soon.

Red lipstain. I don’t know whether it’s because it makes me feel très Parisian chic or just because I just never wear make-up (so when I do, it feels extra special), but this Maybelline Cherry Pop Lipstain is one of my best purchases as of late. In fact, when I wore this the night of the bachelorette party, I collected several numbers. No shame in my lipstain game, people.

Nutella. I am so obsessed with this European wonder, in fact, that my friend Matea and I are planning a Nutella-themed brunch we’ve deemed, “Jeffrey’s Brunch.” Yes, The Barefoot Contessa is our idol. And yes, we hope Jeffrey loves our brunch as much as he loves overpriced, ugly furniture.

What are you totally loving right now? Something, anything…share!

You 100% just convinced me to get that exact stain. No joke. I am buying it immediately.

ahh I’m with you on Nutella—you need to check out my post from yesterday! :) http://www.thesweetslife.com/2011/04/almost-no-bake-nutella-pie-with-peanut.html

I am currently obsessed with…..my new haircut, iced coffee, and spending time outdoors because lately the weather has been beautiful where I live!!

jeri April 28, 2011 at 5:50 pm

you can definitely pull off the red lip stain. I can NOT. And confession…. I’ve never tried nutella……. :/

I know…. I know….

But part of me thinks that’s for the best….

Megan April 28, 2011 at 10:00 pm

I’m living in Appleton now, where’d you find that adorable dress? College Ave has a lot of random boutiques :)

Lenna April 29, 2011 at 12:13 am

My current obsessions would be zumba, overnight oats, parsnips, Lush cosmetics and sun:) In no particular order:) Your dress looks great!!

Mimi (Gingersnaps) April 29, 2011 at 1:58 pm

That dress is gorgeous. It’ll pay for itself in all the free drinks dudes will buy for you!

I’m happy to see Paltrow with a cookbook…perhaps that’s a sign she’s not still on Tracy Andersen’s cray-cray starvation diet?

I’m still loving London! I got up to Edinburgh to visit a friend. Aweeesome!

Sarah (Running To Slow Things Down) April 30, 2011 at 7:31 am

Your new dress is adorable! Sometimes those kinds of splurges are totally necessary. ;)

I’m lovin’ almond milk, which is a totally new discovery for me. That and the gorgeous warm weather and having plans to go to my cousin’s b-day party tonight (complete with limbo, cake and hoola hoop contests…woot! )

Hope you have the loveliest of Saturdays, Holly! :D

I’m totally loving my plans for life. Or just senior year. The world is my oyster, and I feel so grateful to be young and (mostly) free!

Jess April 30, 2011 at 8:16 pm

I’m LOVING kale chips..had them for the first time tonight! Why did I wait so long?!?

Frances April 30, 2011 at 8:27 pm

sometimes life is hard, and nothing makes me happy– even the things that normally make me ecstatic. right now i feel like i’m in one of those slumps, where the bad attitude is incorrigible and stubborn…but that doesn’t stop me from seeking comfort in the best of ways:

–bike rides. hours at a time, multiple times a day, before work, after work, back and forth with refueling stops at coffeeshops.

–cafe au lait…with soymilk!

–the new sneakers i just bought, literally, 5 hours ago. they’re Simple shoes, black, with babyblue laces, and they are pretty kickass.

-bananas with almond butter and nutritional yeast. totally weird, yeah. but delicious and satisfying. although i think 4 a day might be making my stomach knot up. ouch.

Jessica May 1, 2011 at 3:55 pm

Kombucha! Oh wow I forgot about the joys of that odd, delicious drink. After 4 months without, I think I deserve to splurge on a few bottles of it, no?? ;)

And I need that burger recipe asap. Pepperjack is obviously my favorite cheese, I eat avocado on the daily, I can always appreciate a good veggie boig, and I usually love just about everything you love! Obviously.

What I’m loving: this San Diego weather! High 70’s all week! So spoiled.

megan @ the oatmeal diaries May 1, 2011 at 5:29 pm

If Gwyneth and Jake had a baby, it would be sickeningly perfect.
Lately I’ve been loving dried figs with almond butter! Such a perfect combo.

Teri [a foodie stays fit] May 1, 2011 at 10:07 pm

I’m completely obsessed with Bischoff Spread right now. And Love Grown granola. And using witch hazel as a toner. And

Teri [a foodie stays fit] May 1, 2011 at 10:08 pm

Amy May 2, 2011 at 8:42 pm

NCIS..always ;)

Laura May 6, 2011 at 9:21 am

I’m loving your blog! That dress is so cute…in which boutique did you get it ’cause I live in Appleton and would love to check it out! I’m (re)currently obsessed with Kombucha. It comes in cycles and I’m loving it and telling everyone I know about it!

Colleen May 25, 2011 at 1:13 pm

I’m currently obsessed w/ all things Gwyneth right now. I have her cookbook, read GOOP, bought all the magazines she’s featured in (promoting the book), AND her trainer’s workout DVD. Jeesh. I think I need an intervention.
