two announcements {and a giveaway!}

Hey hey hey party people! What up with my home slices? My Everythingtarian readers?

Oh me? You want to know what up with me? Well, you know…I’m just sitting here on the couch, talking like a total white girl and eating stale chili lime tortilla chips leftover from a Concerts on the Square soiree I organized last night (read: lots of food + booze and minimal listening of the Madison Orchestra) because I’m too lazy to make anything of real substance.

If you follow me on the Twitters or the Facebooks (or any of the other million social medias), you know that I’ve been dropping hints of some exciting things poppin’ around these Everythingtarian parts. Take a deep breath, because none of this is probably going to be as exciting for you as it is for me, hence the I’ll make it up to you with a giveaway at the end of this post.

Big reveal #1…I’m taking a food writing course from the amazing Molly O’Neill!

This five-week seminar by the New York Times food writer extraordinaire focuses on food writing – from cookbooks to memoirs to non-fiction and writing for publications, it is a boot camp of sorts to explore food writing in all of its forms. There are lectures, writing workshops and assignments all in the name of loving, living, writing, tasting, seeing and experiencing through food. Yeah, you could say I’m excited.

This means I won’t be blogging as much because I’ll be furiously writing for the workshop, but hopefully it will make me a better writer so I can entertain you in new, exciting + TASTY ways.

Shocker #2…I’m quitting the Diet Coke!

Now, let me just say that this does not mean I am never going to have another Diet Coke ever again in my life. I’m an Everythingtarian – I don’t roll like that. However, after seeing the movie preview for Forks Over Knives last week (yes, just the preview, not even the movie), I’ve taken a good hard look at my eating habits. While I eat pretty healthily, I know that this summer has been extremely busy and convenience has often been more important than health.

Starting this month, I’m getting back on the heart-healthy, REAL food wagon…which means saying sayonara to my daily dose of DC. Instead, I’ve been drinking sparkling water by the 12-pack full. No really, I’ve already gone through three 12-packs.

And a giveaway…to the AMAZING online retailer Joss + Main!

In case you are unfamiliar with Joss + Main, they are an online retailer that offers amazing design + amazing designers at amazing prices. From kitchen goods to decorative items to furniture and interior design, they run special sale events featuring different brands that are marked down in price as a result of their strong relationships with the actual designers themselves.

Does that make sense? If not, just take a look at all the CUTE things you can get on there…

1. large pie dish in lemon / 2. prague 3. origo orange storage bowl / 4. storage bench in gerber surf / 5. rectangular dish in cherry / 6. seaside 13″ charger / 7. zen wall cock with pendulum / 8. daisy vases – set of 3 / 9. 2 pairs of chopsticks with rests

And for one special Everythingtarian reader, we have a FREE $100 shopping spree to give away!

Here’s what you need to do:

(1) Visit Joss + Main’s website and sign-up for member’s only access to these deals. It’s easy, it’s free, and all you need is an email to do it.

(2) Come back to this post, and leave me a comment letting me know you did so + tell me the first thing you would order if you win.

That’s it!

I will be announcing the winner on Sunday night.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a writing homework assignment to attend to…

Amy August 6, 2011 at 8:33 am

done and done…I stopped drinking diet coke in May. It is STILL difficult to not have it in the house. My husband HATES me because I won’t allow it near me. I still have to get a large with extra ice from McDonald’s here and there. I can’t completely cut it out. The other night I was driving by McD’s and was going to stop and then really felt I needed a large glass of ice water instead, so slowly but surely the craving is going away. Good luck to you!
AND oh my. I would get a new set of bamboo sheets since I LOVE to sleep!
