in life,randomness,week in review

As I sat sipping the most delightful mimosa this morning, I realized it was the first time in my 26 years of life on Earth that I’ve actually relaxed, enjoyed a leisurely brunch with friends and curled on the couch to watch four hours of Beverly Hills 90210 on a Saturday afternoon.

My first reaction was: why the hell haven’t I done this sooner?

My second reaction was: Dylan McKay, will you marry me?

Luckily, I have this thing called this blog, and I can go back to read the exact reasons why I haven’t been enjoying the dramatic ups and downs of these West Beverly High kiddos.

(1) Apparently, I am too busy spending money on half-marathon registrations.

(2) De-seeding pomegranates and turning my kitchen pink is a time-consuming task.

(3) I spend way too much time on Kayak researching cheap flights + dreaming of traveling to exotic destinations around the world.

(4) I am also committed to family holiday shenanigans involving bananas, clementines, Just Dance 2 and amazing homemade truffles.

(5) I spend half my days trying to invent new uses for the million gallons of homemade marinara sauce I currently have sitting in my fridge.

(6) Trying to take healthy eating advice from your own blog isn’t as easy at it seems.

(7) Spending time with friends who are moving away is a must.

(8) I never would have imagined eating whole bars of Salty Dog Chocolate would take that little time…apparently, only one whole night of time.

And that’s why I’ve been so busy and unable to watch Kelly and Brenda duke it out over Dylan.

Dylan. oh Dylan. I LOVED him. I would secretly watch 90210 when my mom would leave the room because she didn’t want me watching it. ha!

hehhehe. I remember having a huge crush on both Dylan and Brandon Walsh. Glad you had such a fabulous day. We’re doing brunch tomorrow…I can’t wait ;)

Well, now instead of “Why the hell haven’t I ever done this before?” you can say, “Why the hell don’t I do this more often?” Sometimes you have to have to-dos on your list that most likely don’t lead to productivity, but rather recovery from life ;)

And mimosas and “The Peach Pit” are mandatory.

This weekend has been full of nothing but unproductiveness. I’m okay with it.

you’ve gotta come to LA and watch 90210 with me – it’s a whole new experience when you recognize the locations!!!

Susan January 8, 2011 at 8:50 pm

I was always a Brandon girl myself ;)

I think we are total opposites Holly. Because I have a tendency to stay in drinking and watching 90s drama WAY too often. That’s why I heart ya <3

oh yeah bringing back my old school days : ) loved 90210 and of course the men on the show ; )

I pretty much relaxed all weekend, and finally took the christmas tree and decorations down : )

Love ya Holly! xoxo

How amazing are mimosas and brunch?! Such a perfect match!!

Mary @ Bites and Bliss January 8, 2011 at 9:16 pm

Glad you were able to spend a leisurely breakfast with friends! But at least you’be been staying busy with productive things and not just sitting around doing nothing. :P

Your day started off great…mimosas!!!!!

I hope it ends just as well…maybe a mimosa with a de-seeded pomegranate or something while you watch Dylan and gang.

Mimi (Gingersnaps) January 8, 2011 at 9:50 pm

Mimosas rock! One of the few alcoholic drinks I like. Sounds like you had a lovely day!

I’m loving London so far! Still branching out. Any places you’d recommend in the Angel area?

Katie January 8, 2011 at 10:25 pm

You’ll have to fight me for Dylan. Loser gets Brandon. Ready, set, GO!

Living in NYC there are sooooo many wonderful brunch places! I make it my duty to try them all! (ahh life is hard) haha

Glad you got to sit back and relax!

Why do half marathons have to be so darn pricey?

At first, I was trying to find one based on how exciting it seemed. And then I started trying to limit it to a few nearby locations. And *then* I realized the price, and now I’m driving just a bit further to get a more affordable deal. I think actually finding a fun, exciting, affordable half is going to be more difficult than the actual training…ha!

90210 always reminds me of staying up late to watch it with my babysitter. I was such a rebel.

Amy B @ Second City Randomness January 9, 2011 at 10:12 am

Ah Dylan… every morning for an entire summer was spent with the kids of 90210. Although I’m pretty sure Dylan, as hot as he was, was a good 10 years older. Which sort of makes him a creeper… in theory.

Diana @ frontyardfoodie January 9, 2011 at 11:16 am

I’m relaxing today because of a bad cold and watching cheesy shows while eating junk and drinking coffee. It’s amazing.

Jessica @ Dishin' About Nutrition January 9, 2011 at 11:18 am

Ugh Dylan, how dreamy….haha

Lisa @ Thrive Style January 9, 2011 at 2:46 pm

I love mimosas—yum!

I used to watch 90210…way back in the day. I think your reasons for not tuning in all the time are great—it’s real life instead of observing fake lives! Still kinda fun to watch sometimes though :)

Your pics are seriously ridic lately. Like, stunning, crisp, beautiful, magic, print-so-I-can-buy-on-etsy ridic.

lalalalove you!
