Wins and Losses

At this exact moment, I am eating another sheet pan of garlic parmesan kale chips, re-reading yesterday’s post and wondering what the heck was I thinking while writing it?

I guess ya can’t win ’em all.

But…you can win breakfast with The Best Pumpkin Oats Ever.

1/3 cup oats
1/3 cup water + 1/3 cup skim milk
pinch salt
1/3 cup pumpkin puree
1/2 smashed banana
drizzle of Xagave
cinnamon, ginger + nutmeg
dollop o’ Mighty Maple PB

But you can’t win with some uber-foamy nonfat chai lattes.

Not my favorite chai I’ve ever had.

However, you can win with POM.  POM Nectarine Spritzer anyone?

Tart, sweet and yummy, with a side of pictures from Southeast Asia and a box of cane sugar.

Overall, I did not win this day. I am meh at best right now.  However, YOU can win today.  That’s right, if you read my girl Janetha’s blog, you know where this is going…

That’s right, one of you lucky readers will be the recipient of a bottle of Xagave, the natural sweetener made from both blue and white agave, as well as a cookbook utilizing this wonder sugar replacement!  It’s organic, low glycemic (doesn’t raise the blood sugar) and tastes good – it doesn’t have that weird aftertaste I have found with some agaves.

Here’s whatcha gotta do:

(1) Leave me a comment telling me your favorite use for agave syrup. If you haven’t tried it, tell me
the first thing you will use/make with it.

(2) Link back to this giveaway on your blog, and leave me a 2nd comment letting me know you did so.
If you don’t have a blog, just leave me a 2nd comment and tell me something random about yourself.

(3) Vote for me in the Foodbuzz Blogger Awards (no shame, no shame) by clicking on that link, then leave me a
3rd comment letting me know you did so.  If you already voted for me, make it known!

You have until Sunday at 9pm to enter – the winner will be announced bright n’ early Monday morning.

Off  to cross my fingers that my 2-3 day (2 wins, 3 losses) evens itself out to .500 soon…

What a delicious giveaway! I always use agave when I am creating my own variations on Gena’s Banana Soft Serve. However, it would be fun to have a cookbook full of even more ideas.

E.S. October 15, 2009 at 6:55 pm

Oh and the random thing about myself is I love any color of pink… :-)

alyssa October 15, 2009 at 7:45 pm

I’ve never actually tried agave syrup, so I’d love the chance to test it out!

PS. Odd question, but do kale chips taste like kale? Or does the bitter-ness leave after baking them… I’m curious!

Jess October 15, 2009 at 8:37 pm

I haven’t tried it yet so I will definitely first try it with pancakes, then oatmeal, then in recipes! Haha :)

Thanks so much!!

I’ve just started using agave instead of sugar for my baked goods. I want to try making a raw pumpkin pie with it.

Kimberly October 15, 2009 at 10:19 pm

Never tried it…but I bet it would be an awesome addition to my morning oats!

Melissa October 15, 2009 at 10:51 pm

Mary October 16, 2009 at 5:20 am

Would use it instead of sugar in baked goodies :D

Jesse October 16, 2009 at 9:11 am

I use agave to sweeten apples when I microwave them! (I mix them with cereal and yogurt in the morning for a very FALL breakfast!)

Emily (The Experimentarian) October 16, 2009 at 11:01 am

Cellabella October 16, 2009 at 12:08 pm

I’ve never tried it before, but the first thing I’d do is add it to my morning oatmeal. I’ve heard good things about Xagave, I hope to sample it!
