Twas’ a rainy day in America’s Dairyland.
However, instead of curling under the covers and reading a book while sipping a steaming mug of tea, I worked. For 10 hours. It’s a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it.
Breakfast this morning was completely unfilling and uninspired: Kashi Heart2Heart Cereal + skim milk + sliced naner. Taken with a flash nonetheless, because it was that dark out at 7am.
Naturally, this held me over for like 2 hours, 3 at best. Then I snarfed a jolly handful o’ trail mix: almonds, pistachios and raisins, oh my! And dried cranberries too. The mix was almost as good as the ones concocted by the trail mix queen herself.
Lunch was quick and filling.
Adding black beans to the frozen mix was genius. And filling. Did I already say that?
Did I also already say that party treats were also brought into the office today? Puppy Chow. My kryptonite.
And unpictured Chex Mix (mixed with M&Ms nonetheless). Whitney, do either of these count against me in the No Sweets Week? Being as competitive as I am, I never feel good about blowing a challenge on the first day.
However, my late afternoon snack redeemed me: Oikos Plain Greek yog, kiwi, raspberries + Dylan’s Sunflower Almond Chia Granola. A hot cold mess.
I finally got out of work at 6:30pm, then headed straight home to go run. Since my motivation to run was flagging and the skies were getting dark and scary, I recruited a big, strong man to accompany helpless lil’ ol’ me.
Just kidding. This IS the 21st century: I am not little nor helpless. And I stopped by Walgreens on my way home.
4 miles, 32 minutes, 8:00/mile. The most glorious feeling run I have had in awhile.
Dinner was quick, slightly rando and half-eaten by the time it was photographed: 1 grilled patty pan squash + 1 grilled zucchini topped with chunks of pepperjack cheese. Plus, more unpictured pepperjack for munching purposes.
Alright, I am a sweaty beast who needs to shower, look over her insurance coverage, do the dishes, watch an episode or two of “The Office,” respond to some e-mails and perhaps read a chapter or two.
Two q’s to keep you on your toes:
What is your favorite rainy day activity? Look at the top of the post for mine…
Are you a sweet monster or salty beast? I am 100%, hands down a full sweet monster. Chips & salsa, pretzels, French fries…meh. Pastries, ice cream, candy, chocolate…you name it, I eat it.
