Wrap It Up

Who else isn’t quite sure how it is Friday already? The past couple weeks have floowwwnnn by!

I almost forgot about our sweet monster vs. salty beast battle on Tuesday (sweet won hands down, by the way).

Remember Wednesday?  That’s when we all shared some killer food photography tips, including:

Caroline, who recommends using lots of color in photographs;
Alison, who reminds us that pictures that are blurry are just capturing real life;
Susan, who suggests taking lots of pictures so that when it comes to blogging, you have lots to choose from;
Cindy, who says to avoid sticky-fingered toddlers so the lens stays clean;
and, Morgan, who suggests clearing the background of clutter to the food is center stage.

On Thursday, my favorite Michael Pollan stopped by (kind of) and reminded us of the greater issues surrounding food. Everyone had some AMAZING things to say – I suggest you all take some time to read them!

Alrighty, on to today’s eats!

I went straight-up K-style with Reese’s oats this morning. Amazing.

1/3 cup oats
1/3 cup water + 1/3 cup organic skim milk
pinch salt
3/4 banana
small handful dark chocolate chips
hearty drizzle of peanut butter

Chocolate + peanut butter = one of the best combinations to hit planet Earth ever.

For a mid-morning snack, I busted open my free Bare Naked cereal sample that came in the mail yesterday.  No worries – you can ALL get one by clicking here.

It was good, but for me, there were too many ingredients, too much sugar and most likely, too pricey.

My friend Brett and I declared Friday our lunch date day at the Indian buffet.  Yeah, that’s right.  At the Indian buffet. It is dangerously amazing territory for two reasons: (1) Indian is my fave food, and (2) it’s a buffet.  Nuff’ said.

veggie salad in yogurt dressing
black bean daal
chana masala
chicken tikka masala
aloo gajar (potatoes + carrots)

Sorry for a case of the blurrs – it was dark in the restaurant, and I was salivating over my plate too much to actually take the time to take a proper picture.

My boss told me to leave early today – woowoo!  So I was home by 4pm, where I proceeded to enjoy this rainy, drizzly day by watching Wednesday night’s episode of Glee (LOVE this show) followed by two episodes of The Office (obv).  I heart rainy days.  It gave me the excuse to not run 3 miles and instead, let me enjoy a football team’s rendition of Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” and after, let me stare at John Krasinski for two episodes.

Part of dindin was a quick snack plate: orange pepper, zucchini, TJ”s mini pitas + hummus.

Now, I am munching on trail mix and realizing I need to be productive before the big wedding tomorrow (yes, another one).  List includes:

  • Clean the kitchen + bathroom
  • Order wedding present online
  • Look over insurance papers
  • Yoga stretches
  • Phone calls to some of my ladies
  • Put paper bags over parking meters (to reserve for the wedding tomorrow)
  • Look for a weekend/part-time job
  • Get up at 6am and run 8 miles

I love making to-do lists yet hate them because I never actually accomplish them.  Yeah..I think we had this convo on Monday.

Alrighty kiddos, enjoy your weekend and see you on Sunday!

BroccoliHut September 25, 2009 at 10:31 pm

Holy delicious oatmeal!
Mind if I sneak a bite of that naan?

Katharina September 25, 2009 at 11:13 pm

WOW! Your oats look and sound so good. For real.

And Indian buffets are the best. They really are. They’re especially great if you’ve never tried Indian food, because describing what it tastes like is so difficult. You get to try all the different flavors and spices that goes into making one of the best cuisines that exists… okay.. THE BEST!

Cindy September 26, 2009 at 1:07 am

Holy Moly your pb and choco oats looks like HEAVEN

must make some!

Happy Friday and YES it FLEW!
shew, the weekend better not go so fast!

Jackie at PhamFatale.com September 26, 2009 at 3:14 am

There’s some good oatmeal going on… Have a great time at the wedding

Susan September 26, 2009 at 4:53 am

The swirling action in those oats look mind-blowingly good. Bear Naked won’t send to Canada – boo! I looked at the ingredients and agree with you though – too much sugar. In fact, I counted, 6 types of sugar to be exact.

Have fun running/wedding-ing today!!

Coco September 26, 2009 at 6:58 am

Mmmmm reeses oats sound soooo yummy. Especially with halloween right around the corner.
Indian food is one of my favs. Good job getting Chicken tikka masala hahah. Yummmmmm!

Lynn @ The Actors Diet September 26, 2009 at 1:39 pm

ahhh those reese’s oats are insane.

insideiamdancing September 26, 2009 at 3:28 pm

I end up renaming my “to-do” lists as “stuff I can’t be bothered with” lists. It’s working out well :D Kinda…

I LOVE Indian food (deja vu- we talked about this? I still love it so will keep saying it). Also a die-hard Bare Naked fan. Their granola is amazing. I typed that with major emphasis in case it doesn’t come across in translation.

I watched some of The Office for the first time last night on youtube! There is a video of just “TWSS” moments…made my night! Ha!

K September 26, 2009 at 4:37 pm

You are KILLIN’ ME with that bowl of oats!! Mmmm, Reese’s!

Those photo tips are great! The bloggies are so smart!

I need to try some authentic Indian food! I always say this whenever I see it pictured but hot damn, it looks good :)

Okayyyy that is definitely THE MOST gorg bowl of oatmeal I have ever seen!!! :)

And yes! That vegan indian buffet sounds amazing. My mom and I have a great one right by our house and they have the best mint-y coleslaw, spicy potatoes and NAAN BREAD! Love. We always go back for seconds, obviously!
