You’re probably thinking…

You’re probably thinking…pancakes?  Again?

Yep, that’s right.  No shame.

Another batch of Kath’s Whole Wheat Yogurt Pancakes…with a twist!  Can you guess the twist?

If you guessed PUMPKIN…bada bing bada boom, you win!  I substituted 1/2 cup of yogurt for 1/2 cup canned pumpkin.  Not only did it make for a pair of jaundiced ‘cakes, but with the addition of cinnamon, almond butter + syrup, these were EVEN BETTER THAN LAST TIME.  No lie.

You’re probably thinking…what the heel is on that wrap?

The simple answer to that: almond butter, cinnamon, carob chips + raisins.

All wrapped up + microwaved for 45 seconds.  Plated with some cheetahs + BBQ sauce.  Lunch is served.

You’re probably thinking…what else did you eat today?

(Perhaps you are not. I just couldn’t think of a better question.)

3/4 cup Yoplait Strawberry Mango Pineapple frozen fruit
1/4 cup organic plain yog
1/2 cup organic skim milk
1/2 small banana
1 handful (about 1 cup) baby spinach

You’re probably thinking…but Holly, how could you possible make a homemade green smoothie?  You don’t have a blender!

Au contraire my dear bloggy friends, au contraire.

The lovely people over at My BlogSpark sent me some goods to promote the new Yoplait Frozen Smoothie blends, including a single serve blender (!!!)…

Thank you so much My BlogSpark  and Yoplait for providing this gift pack (including the blender and coupon) – you have no idea how happy this package made me, especially because I have been yearning for some kind of blender!

I chose the strawberry-mango-pineapple blend, which was delicious.  My only issue with it was it had sucralose.  I don’t care it contained artificial sweeteners (reference my last two posts), but it was just TOO SWEET.  Plus, there was nonfat milk powder added to it as well, and the whole thing tasted just a lil’ funky.  However, definitely not funky enough that I didn’t guzzle down that sucker.

You’re probably thinking…but how was the blender?

Perfect.  Just perfect.

You’re probably thinking…did you do anything else besides eat today?

Why yes, yes I did.

I re-watched Sasha Cohen yet again fall apart in the U.S. championships, cozied up to watch An American in Paris at 4:30am this morning (with my cross-generational eternal love Gene Kelly), did a killer 60-minute Dave Farmar yoga podcast, went grocery shopping, cozied up yet again to watch Last Chance Harvey (adorable!) this afternoon, took a bath, finished some freelance writing, cleaned some thangs up, ate dinner…

You’re probably thinking…what is this classy dinner spread before us?

Well, I am glad you asked!  That would be 1 cup broccoli slaw + drizzle of ranch dressing, carrots + baba ghanoush alongside a blueberry Chobani + whole wheat graham crackers.  Slightly random, yet totally delicious.

You’re probably thinking…when is this lady going to shut up once and for all?

Right now.  Promise.

After you answer perhaps a question or two?

What was the highlight of your weekend? ANTHONY BOURDAIN.  I love him even more now.  I didn’t think that was possible.

Pancakes or French toast? As much as I love pancakes, I love French toast more.  It happens to be one of my top 3 fave foods ever.

And perhaps stay tuned tomorrow for just maybe a giveaway or something…ya know…just sayin’…

Matt January 24, 2010 at 9:10 pm

There is nothing wrong with eating pancakes. I could eat them everyday!

j to the anethaaaaaaa January 24, 2010 at 9:11 pm

katie January 24, 2010 at 9:17 pm

hmm thats a toughie!! i love french toast! especially on sourdough bread.. YUM!!! i always love your posts :)

Jenna January 24, 2010 at 9:20 pm

Ahh holly you make me laugh!
Pumpkin pancakes look delicious!
That’s a toughie- I like pancakes, French toast, and waffles ;)

Megan January 24, 2010 at 9:26 pm

Okay. Where to begin. Oh dear.
a) I also had pancakes today, as well as yesterday, but mine had apple instead of pumpkin. Yours look delish!
b) I recently found the cheetahs recipe on snackface and now cannot stop stuffing my face with those delicious orange pieces of heaven.
c) I was given that EXACT same blender for christmas and am currently working up the courage/balls to try out a green monster.
d) Sucralose irritates my stomach to the max.
e) I just bought graham crackers and am now SO pumped to crumble them into yogurt tomorrow.

Re: your actual questions:
f) My highlight was perhaps this post?! I’ve never had so much in common with a bloggie before! :)
g) French toast all the way… over the holidays I made pumpkin-french-toast for my famjam. Foodgasmic.

Apologies for writing you an essay! ha ha

daintyvegan January 24, 2010 at 9:35 pm

French Toast definitely owns Pancakes, there’s just something about them. Mmmmmm.

The highlight of my week was probably.. my sushi and movie date with my sister. :D Even if it resulted in the loss of my beautiful car keys. :(

Jess January 24, 2010 at 9:36 pm

Awesome blender!! And for free? You lucky, lucky girl. That smoothie looks delicious!

Pumpkin whole wheat pancakes? SCORE!
<3 jess

elise January 24, 2010 at 9:46 pm

dayammmmm…i cant even TELL you how jealous i am that you saw anthony bourdain. my fave top chef eps are always the ones hes on…he seems like hed be SO cool to hang out with. and if anything, he is DEF the #1 everythingtarian…would you be daring enough to eat some of that crap he tries on his travels? blech. i realllly dont think i could!

anyways, sweet score on the blender! the best part of my weekend was watching all the fabulous sports that were on – australian open tennis and football. amazing.

Alison January 24, 2010 at 9:56 pm

ah your day sounds fabulous :D I love that chobani with whole wheat grahams. Must get me some and pronto! I am all about vanilla chobani + frozen strawberries from the summer and a graham cracker on top would make it even better :)

Madeline @ GreensAndJeans January 24, 2010 at 10:29 pm

Free blender? You’re living the high life lady! I am so solidly in the pancake pack. I like french toast, but I would marry pancake in a heartbeat. The highlight of my weekend was going hiking! The lowlight? Being SO JEALOUS of you getting to see Anthony Bourdain!

Erin January 24, 2010 at 10:57 pm

The highlight of my weekend was my new heart rate monitor! I’m totally a waffle woman…pancakes never really appealed to me until recently. But I’ll still take waffles over pancakes, anytime, anywhere!

Erin January 24, 2010 at 10:59 pm

I totally left out the following sentence. “Just can’t do French toast…something about dunking bread in egg just doesn’t seem right to me…”

Molly January 24, 2010 at 11:21 pm

I’ve died and gone to heaven reading your post today. As I sat eating my bland oats (curse japan for not having agave nectar or some decent sugar sub…or curse that I can’t read), but anywho- I dreamt I was actually tasting your pancankes…I’m usually more of a french toast girl and i’m right there with ya, definitely in the top 5 for me of all-time fave’s. highlight of the weekend—finding apples on sale at the grocery store. I wish i could send you Japanese apples. You’d never want another one from the U.S. again. I’ll be sad when I leave here.
And P.S. You should see It’s Complicated if you haven’t already. Kind of cute. I had a few laughs! Take care Holly!

Mama Pea January 24, 2010 at 11:59 pm

I AM thinking that every single thing you ate today looks A-MAY-ZING. I’m also thinking you are my sister and we were separated at birth.

Kailey (SnackFace) January 25, 2010 at 12:00 am

Nooo!!! I never want you to “shut up.” MamaJ never let us say that when we were growing up. It still feels odd!

Blenders=life. If only I could get a food processor or VITAMIX.

Hmmm highlight of the weekend was eating Pizza Hut and meeting dads. Hahaha.

Oh! I am ALL ABOUT French toast! It’s so luscious and amazing.

LOVE YOU!!!! We must gchat soon :DDD

Lexi January 25, 2010 at 4:20 am

I’m a pancake girl for sure! French toast is good, but not as good as flapjacks!

Love your eats!

Chelsea @ (Chelsea's Chew and Run Fun) January 25, 2010 at 5:37 am

“jaundiced ‘cakes” I love your brain.

Delicious eats for the day! That dessert-ish wrap looks crazy good and I bet was just the right amount of melty. Yum!

Gene Kelly is the reason I’ll never be 100% satisfied in a relationship. Why is that? Because no man can ever be him. *Sigh*

Jessica @ How Sweet It Is January 25, 2010 at 5:46 am

French toast! I love it. And your smoothie does looks SO good.

Lauren January 25, 2010 at 6:08 am

I will never get tired of seeing your cakes! ;) I actually think that is how I stumbled upon this lovely little blog of yours. After doing a search for Apple Cinnamon Pancakes and I saw your recipe. It was fate! The pancakes brought us together! ;)

Love you girl!

Megan (The Runner's Kitchen) January 25, 2010 at 6:26 am

I think a single serving blender is genius! If only they could make a self-cleaning blender….

Love your eats today – especially the pancakes with all the toppings! Normally I’m more of a waffle or french toast kind of girl, but your creation looks ahh-mazing.

Glad you had such a productive weekend (and still so jeals of your encounter with Mr. Bourdain).

Happy Monday :-)

Killian Fallon January 25, 2010 at 6:41 am

The highlight of my weekend? Uhmmm….actually, it was probably my breakfast today haha. 3 weetabix with a cup of natural yoghurt, pom seeds and 25g hazelnuts chopped. Twas nom.
Whether I prefer pancakes or french toast? Hmm…I think french toast. Simply because pancakes to me are “fat food” and french toast with honey and banana=maja gasm!

Emily (The Experimentarian) January 25, 2010 at 7:16 am

Um pancakes. But that’s only because, like oatmeal, they were always one of those things that were disgusting until I learned how to make it myself. Much better! But ya know what I love even more than pancakes or french toast? YOU! Have a great week babe! xoxo

K January 25, 2010 at 7:37 am

I’m probably thinking that your meals are perfection! I can’t even begin to tell you how much I wish that I had that wrap/cheetah combo in front of me right now.

FRENCH TOAST!!! Like the song ;)

Gracie @ Girl Meets Health January 25, 2010 at 7:38 am

pumpkin pancakes are BOMB, in the best sense of the word. They’re so dense and filling and deeelish. Over the fall I made one huge pumpkin pancake literally every night for “dessert.” Why did I get out of that habit?!

ellie January 25, 2010 at 7:46 am

Yay for the blender! I have a “smoothie maker” blender that I picked up at a yard sale- I’ve never used it! I think I might need to whip up one of my homemade frappuccinos…been way too long.

What was the highlight of your weekend? I had the most relaxing weekend ever, after a rough week so just doing pretty much nothing was a highlight. Also a new snack I tried, LOL (fwiw: 14 cup muesli microwaved with 2tbsp water to soften, cook until absorbed and stir while hot into Greek yogurt….I DIE!)

Pancakes or French toast? Toughie. I LOOOOOVE challah french toast, but if it was regular french toast, i would go with pancakes. With real maple syrup and sliced banana (on either). Yum.

crunchy granola gal January 25, 2010 at 9:44 am

free blenders? dang girl, you are too good.

i’d take pancakes over french toast, but to be honest, i have little patience for extravagant breakfasts. i guess it’ll have to be pancakes for dinner…

Lauren @ Eater not a runner January 25, 2010 at 10:20 am

Good work on the free blender! I’m impressed!

Cindy January 25, 2010 at 11:04 am

I try and not eat them anymore but french toast is my most perfect happy food EVER.

(well almost)

how cool you have a blender to play with. I am still trying to get my hands on a dehydrator or a spiralizer (or both)

Denise (the apple hill adventurer) January 25, 2010 at 11:17 am

yummy eats as always
i dream of vitamix blenders ..

Susan January 25, 2010 at 11:18 am

I’m actually thinking that your eats on this day = a dream day of eats for moi.

Pancakes trump french toast but oatmeal rules my world. Oatmeal pancakes are even better.

Maya January 25, 2010 at 11:26 am

I know I am definitely thinking your breakfast looks amazing!

Traci January 25, 2010 at 11:35 am

Hey there! Weekends are great huh? Best thing about this past one besides just hanging with friends? A totally rocking Bikram class yesterday. Worked harder than ever and my muscles are actually a little sore today! Such a great prize for hard work.

Love pancakes and french toast equal! So hard to choose but if I HAD to would go with pancakes, blueberry. Yum.

Evan Thomas January 25, 2010 at 12:15 pm

I’m probably thinking I’d have pancakes all the time too if oats didn’t occupy that place in my life
I’m DEFINITELY thinking you’re one of the funniest and creative bloggers out there

Angharad January 25, 2010 at 1:22 pm

So exciting that you got a blender! Rock it out sister. You have also flashed those pancakes around enough that I may finally have to visit the recipe and make some of those suckahs.
Love you! xx

Therese January 25, 2010 at 2:16 pm

I have about 15 No Reservations episodes built up on my DVR. I want to just go to some foreign country and get drunk with him. Wanna come?

Where on earth can you still find canned pumpkin???? None of my stores are carrying it anymore :(

BroccoliHut January 25, 2010 at 4:03 pm

Right now I am thinking that your random dinner is completely perfect: broccoli slaw, Greek yogurt, whole wheat graham crax (MiDel brand?), AND baba ganoush? Perf.

Heather McD (Heather Eats Almond Butter) January 25, 2010 at 4:11 pm

Where are the Greek boobies? ;)

I’m a pancake girl myself, and your jaundiced cakes look delish as does that wrap. Bet it was amazing with the carob all melted and gooey!!!

Susan January 25, 2010 at 5:08 pm

I totally knew there was pumpkin in those pancakes before I scrolled down!! They had that orange tinge to them ;)

Definitely a french toast girl here too. I honest to goodness had french toast every single morning in my senior year of high school. No joke – every day. I don’t eat it much anymore though because my protein pancakes are just more filling. While I’d love to eat four slices of toast at once, I’m trying to do that whole “balance” thing ;) Luv ya!!

Katie January 25, 2010 at 5:29 pm

Mmm that wrap with the pb looks phenom. and whohoo for the blender! Also, I love broccoli slaw so much, I just bought 2 bags at the grocery.

1. Highlight: discovering protein brownie batter, a la Foods of April.

2. Mmm, toughie…can I have both?

Michelle January 25, 2010 at 5:41 pm

DAMN i like the looks of your jaundiced pancakes. I would have them ANY DAY!!! I’m definitely a waffle person though….and french toast is up there, but my bar for french toast is so high no toast has ever reached it. UGH it’s annoying. I picture the perfect toast to be crunchy on the sides, thick and soft and moist on the inside, but SUPER cinnamony. And somehow, my life is messed up and I haven’t gotten that perfect toast. :( I somehow believe that the Everythingtarian kitchen is able to create such a toast…right? :)

Jenny January 25, 2010 at 7:48 pm

I guessed pumpkin because the pancakes were so deliciously orange ;)

And I like pancakes more, I think I’m just a “basic” type of girl. And blueberry or chocolate chip pancakes are amazingggg!

Jenny January 25, 2010 at 7:54 pm

look at you miss cleo – whippin on the mad physcic skills. Now i’m thinking i’m awfully hungry and lovez you like nobody’s biznass!

Low January 25, 2010 at 9:18 pm

Love love lovin’ the looks of those flap jacks. Can I call them that, or does there have to be something special to make it a flap jack?

Anywho, yay for new appliances and green smoothies!

Can you believe I’ve never had french toast? So I’m gonna have to go with pancakes :)

Rebecca January 25, 2010 at 9:54 pm

You make me want sweet potato pancakes. mmmmmm

Sarah (Finding My Balance) January 26, 2010 at 2:55 am

–wait–out of that whole post, one things sticks in my mind: you were watching an american in paris at 4:30 in the morning?!?!?! WHY???

the pancakes look great, and hooooooray! for the smoothie/blender! i miss having a blender sooo much. (i was going to bring my own, plus a transformer because they’re ridic expensive here, but i didn’t have enough room in my suitcase…)

Faith January 26, 2010 at 6:45 pm

I {heart} Anthony Bourdain too! And oh wow, that warm chocolate/nut butter wrap sounds soooo gooood!

Megan January 31, 2010 at 11:52 am

Just made your jaundiced version of the pancakes. Holy yum!!
